Official Halo 3 Discussion Thread DON'T REPLY TO OTHERS

Its safe to say that this game is way DOWNGRADED from the trailer shown at last E3. Its not even close to looking like that trailer. The graphics look like Halo 2 in HD, so thats disapointing. The game play looks the same as Halo 2 also. This game is way, way, way over hyped. Maybe the most over hyped game of all time.tmac2gooden

To me this looks to be an extremely fun game. It's graphics are good, not exceptional, but they stick to the halo style, which I think is good. Let me just say this about the whole halo 3 thing: If I were to choose between a graphically amazing game like MGS4 complete with awesome story and all and everything everyone here seems to praise and halo 3 with less "wowing" graphics and less revolutionary changes, I choose halo 3 still. This game just looks like so much fun, and I quess we might be playing this for some years.

After all, however much SW doesn't like it, Halo 3 is in NA pretty much becoming the face of gaming. That's what gaming is all about for most people after all. After work just logging online and have fun fragging with each other with the usual smack talk involved. You can throw in as much 4d and revolutionary stuff you want with amazing graphics, halo 3 fills it role perfectly, and that's why it's such an amazing game. That's also why it's not only about the gameplay features and graphics, but more about online setup and balance. To most people things like the quick mute button, improved matchmaking, easy teaming up after matches, video recording feature complete with slowmotion, medals and slight balance improvements over the last halo don't mean much. You only notice the improvements when you're playing it the next few years.

BIG DISSAPOINTMENT - I expected so mutch more

Gameplay = Seems alot like halo + halo 2 witch is not a bad thing , just that after playing halo 2 , 2-3 years online i really wanted more innovation then 5-6 new weapons.

In same places it looks great but I would say that the overall look of the came is very disappointing. I really think they are rushing this game. Are you blind? The game looks very good so far and it's not even the finished product. Anyone who can't see how vastly different it looks is either crazy or a blind fanboy trying their best to bash how it looks to make themselves feel better in some creepy lonely sort of way 

First off anyone questioning the gameplay probably doesn't like Halo to begin with or played it.

anywho...does anyone else (who is not a blind fanboy like the many in this thread) notice how great the movement is compared to Halo 2? It looks a lot smoother, especially the end of the video I saw with people riding the Mongoose into the air and coming back down. The movement or animation looks way better as does the line of sight.

With the graphics you can notice the difference easily unless you're a fanboy and we're only at the beta testing phase. I doubt it will beat Gears of War but only fanboys or fakeboys think it will...

I can't wait for this game to come out. 2007 holiday season is going to be a huge one IMO. For all gamers

 I'm a lemming and I will be honest enough to say that I don't think the visuals look all that great. Why can't we have both amazing visuals as well as gameplay? I just dont see why we can't have BOTH with such an amazing and powerful system. If you want proof that the visuals don't look all that great, why don't you see what IGN has to say about the graphics.

Halo is no exception. The reason I brought that point up in Halo 3 is because their is not a big difference in Halo2 from Halo 3. Think Madden 06 from Madden 07? They really didn't change a whole lot from the two seasons, yet people just blindly bought the product because it was the new Madden. I'm not saying all Halo fanbase are ignorant. I'm saying Halo has a fanbase that consist of people who will blindly purchase without knowing what they bought. Most franchise does.

But, I would like to say. I was a non-believer, but gradually as time went on I started to get more and more pumped. Most probably because Gears is pissing me off. So many problems with that game that epic doesn't seem to be fixing, and from the sounds of things Halo 3 sounds perfect online starting from the beta.

One thing I need to know though is, will there be 16 player rounds during matchmaking? I want me some Killtacular. My Gamercard is Ichigo J. The one in my tag is only for E-peens.

They somehow implemented the gameplay mechanic, perfected it, threw it in a CGI commercial, and let the whole world see in 1 month? Honestly, developers aren't dumb enough to show off features which haven't been fully implemented into gameplay (aside from Lionhead...). You're honestly not thinking past the surface.

I think what people are missing graphically here is how sharp everything is. Halo has an art style. It's not supposed to look realistic. What they have done, is taken that art style and made it perfect. Just read the previews "the textures are absolutely razor-sharp". Everything is neat and perfect. You cant tell that from these gameplay videos.Ninja-Vox

Yeah glitches and bullet lag, coupled with host advantage make the game much less entertaining than it could be. No, from the information you saw on my Gamercard you've seen the single player that I've been doing achievements for. Which by the way won't play anymore 'cause my Gears disc is ****ed. I don't play ranked matches, at least not on this game, so you wouldn't be able to find any of my stats or anything like that. 

I'm sick of gears because I've been playing it straight for the past 3 months. Unfortunately, the only MP game I've got other than the ones I had rented.

Gears is better than Halo? That's your opinion and I won't question it BUT I will tell you mine. Halo looks to murder Gears, in every way possible. Sure Halo doesn't have shiny trees or lambent wretches, or teh omg rainz. It does however have, to me, more original environment, game modes, weaponry and seems much more abitious than Gears.

I can't tell you how restricted I feel in that game some times. I hope it'll be a more enjoyable multiplayer experience. Btw, it looks nothing like Call of Duty 2 and Halo doesn't need a cover system for the type of game it is. That's like saying Halo is better than gears simply because there are vehicles.

I gotta say Shungo, what seemed a fanboy comment you were able to elaborate on to bring up a valid point. I salute you for that. Yeah, to buy a game just on name alone is pretty foolish. And it's true that it does happen.

But have you considered that just mayyyyybe alot of the Xbox gamers are going to be getting because they know from experience how good it is? Even you, the shooter-hater, must acknowledge that the Halo series set a milestone for console shooters, with unmatched success until GeoW. Halo 2 has been played for a good 3 years with it's addictive multiplayer.

Then there's the continuation of the story. I'll be the 1st to admit, that Halo 1 was a pretty genereic "we must fight off the evil alien aggressors", but it executed that very well with amazing graphics for its day and solid gameplay schemes that made the whole experience very enjoyable. And as much as some people rag on Halo 2, for it's game length and the "to be continued" ending, it DID expand on the story. The Covenenant were more fleshed out and developed from a basic "alien bad guys" to a complex society with it's own inner strife of political and idealogical conflicts - making them not that much different from us. There was more of the mysteries of the massive Halo installastions explored and the ancient race that built them, the Forerunners. Basically it's expected this story will reveal ties between Humans and the Covenant and the developing story between two sworn enemies, Master Chief and the Covenant's Arbiter. A lot of people are wanting to find out what happens next.

I'm NOT trying to convince you shungo, of the greatness of Halo, nor am I trying to persuade you to like the game or shooters in general. I KNOW that'll never happen, lol. I'm just hoping that, while it isn't your flavor, you can recognize there's a reason for Halo's success and it's along those lines that people want this 3rd game, not solely the box with "Halo 3" on the cover.

You right, it is very limited. You know I don't like shooters, but I do know a thing or two about them (makes sense, right?). From the little that I saw, I was not impress graphically and gameplay. Not that it didn't improve, it didn't improve enough. If you want me to say good things about it I have plenty. The water effects was next gen. The bubble shield is a nice new tool. The physics are awesome. I didn't see any lag in the video, gotta say that's a very good thing. The movement was fluid. This is addition is very nice. However, the feel I get from it is still Halo 2ish nothing really pops out and say "WOW, this is Halo 3!" Now, you may be saying this is just the beta and I agree. Some how I think Bungie is happy what they are bringing now otherwise they would've never release the beta to public. Sure they will add improvements here and there, but the question is now how big will those improvements be?

Well you did make a more constructive post here than from your 1st. But COME ON... the ONLY reason Halo 3 well sell is due to IGNORANCE?? I realize shooters aren't YOUR thing, but even you have to realize they do have something to offer gaming as a whole.

Poor guy even bashing 360 fans...Anyways, It's ignorant to buy a product just off name. Madden, GTA, COD, Mario, and many more franchises has that fanbase with blind purchasing of their products. Halo is no exception. The reason I brought that point up in Halo 3 is because their is not a big difference in Halo2 from Halo 3. Think Madden 06 from Madden 07? They really didn't change a whole lot from the two seasons, yet people just blindly bought the product because it was the new Madden. I'm not saying all Halo fanbase are ignorant. I'm saying Halo has a fanbase that consist of people who will blindly purchase without knowing what they bought. Most franchise does.

But have you considered that just mayyyyybe alot of the Xbox gamers are going to be getting because they know from experience how good it is? Even you, the shooter-hater, must acknowledge that the Halo series set a milestone for console shooters, with unmatched success until GeoW. Halo 2 has been played for a good 3 years with it's addictive multiplayer.

Yes, Halo did bring new heights to console gaming. I 100% agree with that. Shooters was not even mention on console until Halo came along. Like any franchise, there is something that the game offers that no other game does. I know there will be people who can't wait to finish the Halo story, and enjoy the next-gen Halo. Master Chief will reign again. Just not in my living room.

Well, Sony online network was in development since the Xbox even existed, yet people give Microsoft the credit first of bringing online serivce to console(which is false). Also, Sony had the HDD install plan before Xbox was even existed, yet Xbox get credit for bring that idea to console first.

Yeah and a lot of games today are copying off of ideas that Duke Nukem Forever had:roll:. Point being they weren't the first to use it and ideas and thoughts are just that until they're realized. Sony had the idea but never exectued it. Not MS's problem. MS brought it to the console arena first and then Sony followed suit like they always do.

anywho...does anyone else (who is not a blind fanboy like the many in this thread) notice how great the movement is compared to Halo 2? It looks a lot smoother, especially the end of the video I saw with people riding the Mongoose into the air and coming back down. The movement or animation looks way better as does the line of sight.

With the graphics you can notice the difference easily unless you're a fanboy and we're only at the beta testing phase. I doubt it will beat Gears of War but only fanboys or fakeboys think it will...

I can't wait for this game to come out. 2007 holiday season is going to be a huge one IMO. For all gamers

I'm a lemming and I think the visuals aren't all that great. Heck even IGN made a comment saying that the visuals are Underwhelming.

I've experienced that very same problem too. Also with the word 'clas s' and even if part of 'clas sic'. Sometimes I can type the words normally, sometimes the forums won't accept them. Does ANYBODY know what gives with this? :|
