Yes, Halo did bring new heights to console gaming. I 100% agree with that. Shooters was not even mention on console until Halo came along. Like any franchise, there is something that the game offers that no other game does. I know there will be people who can't wait to finish the Halo story, and enjoy the next-gen Halo. Master Chief will reign again. Just not in my living room.

Actually I can fairly give credit that the 1st game to put shooters on the console map was Golden Eye on N64. Halo just came along later and outshined Golden Eye, taking the place as the Premiere console shooter. No differently than how Quake and Unreal surpassed Doom and Wolfenstein 3D on the PC.

In every genre there's always a game that is recognized as the flagship, but sooner or later another comes along that does it better and takes it's place. Until the next big one comes along and does to that game what it did to it's predecessor. It's an unending cycle.

And as for MC not reigning in your living room, I have the sure fire counter argument that will make you see the error in your judgement - CAAAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN :D :D :D ;)

the sound in that video especially, is amazing. the gunfights in the distance and echoed reload sound when he was in the building were very nice touches.

i want to know if you can search for customs games in the final version thats the only thing that sucked in halo 2 was that you could only play custom games with your friends, also zombies variant FTWsolidgamer

yeah i was pretty angry that it wasnt included in halo 2 aswell. i found it odd that bungie went out of the way to make such big customisable features then put a huge restriction on it. anyway i think they said on one of there weekly updates that it will be in so hopefully they stick to that.

That Kcpp2b is really at work, huh? trying to defend off any debate about Halo 3 with fake political and metrosexual pictures. Poor guy even bashing 360 fans...Anyways, It's ignorant to buy a product just off name. Madden, GTA, COD, Mario, and many more franchises has that fanbase with blind purchasing of their products. Halo is no exception. The reason I brought that point up in Halo 3 is because their is not a big difference in Halo2 from Halo 3. Think Madden 06 from Madden 07? They really didn't change a whole lot from the two seasons, yet people just blindly bought the product because it was the new Madden. I'm not saying all Halo fanbase are ignorant. I'm saying Halo has a fanbase that consist of people who will blindly purchase without knowing what they bought. Most franchise does.

Please pal....I defend against dumb statements like the ones being done a million times on SW yesterday. First off Halo 3 looks very very different from Halo 2 so anyone wanting to lie and pretend it looks just like Halo 2 I'm not gonna stand for cause it seems Halo is the most beloved game to be bashed on System Wars by far.

Now going to what you said. Please...Shungokustasu. We all know you said that "ignorance" line cause you're trying to belittle those who are getting Halo. I do agree sometimes franchise get watered down and sometimes they became more of a name etc... But Halo is on it's 3rd freaking game dude. If you wanna have a serious discussion about people buying brand names more so then the game then do it about Mario maybe or GTA or Sonic maybe... This is just it's third game and the game is just now becoming a trilogy. Maybe on it's fifth game you can start talking about people just blindly buying it....

I mean Halo 2 is where Halo kinda ruled in Multiplayer and all and that was the last game that came out.

I think you just pleasently love to overlook the fact, and many others do too, that Halo is a very very fun franchise with amazing gameplay. It is very very addictive to play the Single player alone on co-op IMO. I did that for 1 and 2 like hundreds of times with my brother. We love the game and enjoy it a lot. So when you say people will buy it out of ignorance on it's 3rd title for god sakes you obviously are taking an aim at the series and it's fans and you disrespect a very good game. You may not like it but it's still a great game.

I don't like Metroid Prime but I dont go calling it garbage like some other people call Halo or say people only buy it cause it's a rehash of an old title.

Also with Final Fantasy you can say your same thing about people buying it out of ignorance but I don't do that cause I'm not looking to bash something like you seem to be doing... I don't get that series and really don't like it's games, same with Pokemon but I don't go belittling those who may think it's freaking amazing and truly wonderful gameplay.

Any true lemming that thinks Halo 3 don't look great may be spoiled by the Gears of War's graphics and even so I think Halo3 for the size and enviroment looks better than Gears(even in Beta). I bet the Single player will blow your socks off.

As for cows talking about Resistance this Resistance that - give it up, REsistance was a total copy off of doom and Halo and had nothing original to offer - oh wait it had wacky weapons, so does some of the other insominiac games like HL2 with the gravity gun. Resistance is a half ass shooter and won't go down in history like Halo/Halo2 as one of the best fps games ever.

Halo 1 is up there IMO. The only shooter i've ever enjoyed more than Halo Combat Evolved was Half Life 1.

I love the smooth animation now, that alone is different and easy to notice. Looks great especially when driving the mongoose, gonna fun driving that and picking up people during capture the flag

They somehow implemented the gameplay mechanic, perfected it, threw it in a CGI commercial, and let the whole world see in 1 month? Honestly, developers aren't dumb enough to show off features which haven't been fully implemented into gameplay (aside from Lionhead...). You're honestly not thinking past the surface.

how many of you have actually played the beta? i have and all this crap i hear about bad graphics is completely unwarranted. the graphics are great. No, bungie doesnt have a john carmac, but bungie is about making a fun gameplay expirience first and foremost. the graphics are an afterthought. Halo has always been known for its great graphics, but they have never been the flagship.

Not just effects the final textures,lighting and water.But I say lets wait till it is released until we judge on graphics after all the beta isn't about the graphics anyway and I still say halo 3 at launch will look just as good as the first trailer.

Gameplay = This is a joke, right? I can't find one single difference in the way it plays or the game mechanics or anythinc except the new guns. I dunno if I'm supposed to laugh or cry...

Let's see, they changed the controls, added bubble shields, trip mine (not new), and portable grav lifts, they've changed jumping mechanics, added the spike grenade, added new vehicles +weapons.

Conclusion : It's called HALO 3, so it'll sell bilions of copies

I'm absolutely loving the beta at the moment. It's a little limited in terms of only having three maps, but they are excellent (apart from Snowbound, which is certainly going to be more of a Skirmish map). Valhalla and High Ground in territories are EXELLENT. Graphics-wise it's ok, nothing amazing but certainly very clean and sharp, and the sounds are absolutely superb. Distant gunfire never gets boring, I love it. I also enjoyed the leaves falling from trees on High Ground and Valhalla, and the footprints in the snow on Snowbound. Although appearing to be not as advanced as Gears, I much prefer the look of Halo 3. Gears appeared far too 'superficial' to me, and added nothing. It was far too boring, whereas Halo 3 has colour and, in my opinion, much more atmosphere. Starting a match on Valhalla really gives a sense of... 'woah' when you first start it up.

Weapons are great - the laser, whilst overpowered, is a pain to hit people with so balances it out. The Spyker isn't brilliant, but on a smaller map could be useful. The equipment is great fun, and really adds a tactical sense to certain battles - and balances things out if someone springs a surprise on you and you are low on shield. The bubbles shield looks brilliant, it refracts the world behind it and it's a brilliant sight to see an enemie morph through the walls of it, in an enclosed gunfight! The Mongoose is a lot of fun, and I love how it slows right down in water, and stops completely if you drive through a power drainer.

The sniper actually takes skill now - you really need to hit them in the head if you want a headshot. No random hitboxes anymore!

The party system was excellent before. Now it's tremendous. It's so clean and fast, easy to navigate and matches are up and running in seconds.

I love this game. It's only a beta, and I'm sitting at work dying to go home tonight and play it some more with the guys!

Halo 3 looks awesome!  i've only played Halo CE on my 360 and the framerate is horrible.  I'm thinking of getting Halo 2 but I'm worried about lag.  Has anyone else had problems with Halo on thier 360?Chaos_Daro

theres no framerate or lag problems with halo 2 the only annoyance is you cant hear people speaking through your headset so you need to have it come through your tv.
