An RTS is an RTS.He held it to PC standards..........he says scale isnt big.......well what do u expect its the 360, the framerate will suffer otherwise.
For the first time since I bought my Elite............I am questioning my faith.

Yeah, I'll still buy it at some point...

Worst game of this gen IMO. You are a brave man. But I'm one to talk. I have Monopoly for the 360.
[QUOTE="Flamestos"]My first expression was  because I thought it was a joke. I was seriously expecting AA for this game but A at the worst. This is why I don't depending on reviews. I enjoyed the demo and Halo Wars is still pre-ordered for me.Franko_3So instead of relying to gaming journalist, you rely on the hype and publicity made by M$, it's not better... Demo are only here to show the best part of the game so you buy it. Think Mirror edge.
The demo section for Mirror's Edge was not the best part.

I've always liked you bez, your a braver man for owning monoply. But Ya know to each his own. I actually really really enjoy AOTOne of the negative points on the game was that the Flood arn't playable at all? I don't recall Dawn of War being shunned because the Imperial Guard weren't playable. But anyway, I respect the guys opinion. I just disagree with it.Doom_HellKnight
IG were only in the first mission of space marines if i remember.
Props to GS for reviewing the game based on the standards of the genre, rather than the standards of the genre on consoles.
+10 critical integrity.
and -50 for a complete lack of consistency:lol:
I feel bad for the people whose first RTS will be Halo Wars. :(

Omg, I can't stop laughing. This is awesome. Tonight, it's gonna be similar to the TP floppage on Wii.
lems were the ones hyping it as though it could take on the big PC RTS :|He held it to PC standards..........he says scale isnt big.......well what do u expect its the 360, the framerate will suffer otherwise.

I don't even like the Halo series besides 1 and I don't like Microsoft either (My post history backs that up). I played and enjoyed the Halo Wars demo and therefore I'm buying the game it's as simple as that. Gaming taste is subjective and I'm going to go back my own opinion from my own personal experience with games.
Take the flop and leave it. Its not like everything Halo touches is gold.He held it to PC standards..........he says scale isnt big.......well what do u expect its the 360, the framerate will suffer otherwise.

I'd like to congratulate GS on setting a new standard for piss-poor reviews (and this is coming from a life-long PC RTS fan). Lets go through this cluster****, shall we?:
"Covenant not playable in campaign mode, Flood not playable at all"
Just like how their wasn't a German campaign in Company of Heores, PC GOTY 2006? Also, thank's for the spoiler, champ.
"Small unit counts and map limit the scale of battles"
That's the whole goddamn point of the game, to focus on small-scale battles. This isn't C&C. God help this guy if he gets his hands on DoW 2.
"In terms of churning out an army, you need to actually click on a building to access its build menu."
Just like oh, I don't know, the vast majority of RTS games!?!?
"Although you can set up global and base-specific rally points, you can't create them for different unit types."
See above.
"Halo Wars is desperately lacking more factions to choose from"
Again, see PC GOTY 2006 Company of Heroes. Both feature 2 factions with 3 specialized sub-sets each.
Wow. Just wow.
I feel bad for the people whose first RTS will be Halo Wars. :(

best post so far.
Has this really changed anyones minds if they planed to pick it up?

As did I. I thought co-op was a blast. I also liked the cover system and the fact that you could do blindfire and crap without having to actually stick to cover.

[QUOTE="Floppy_Jim"]I did not think this would flop. Especially after IGN's score. Ah well, cue the damage control.Aljosa23Oh my, it's going to be hilarious. It'll be even worse if a certain other game meets the hype
I heard this was supposed to be the best RTS for consoles.
I could tell though from the first preview of the game that this would be..."Small unit counts and map limit the scale of battles". I'm not surprised that this scored low. Sounds like they didn't do anything to improve the scale since the first video. The Halo name has been soiled. Pikmin 2 remains the best RTS for consoles and that was from last gen.
The review lead me to believe that it was a solid game that could have just more content, not a 6.5 title.WasdieEnsemble is pretty good at making pretty long RTS single players from my experience. I wonder if the closing of Ensemble caused the game to be rushed...
Good post..its more like this game was the reviewer's first RTS more so than the people that will actually buy this. He sounds completely lost reviewing RTS games.I'd like to congratulate GS on setting a new standard for piss-poor reviews (and this is coming from a life-long PC RTS fan). Why do we get these inconsistent reviews? Gamespot's still trying to prove they give the harshest reviewes, but with zero credibility under their belt they look even more of a laughing stock.
I love you Gamespot. Thanks for making me day hilariously awesome!
Halo Wars flopping horrible and Empire: Total War demo all in the same day, it's like Christmas!

I think it was the post that gave it away.
'Although Halo Wars can be rewarding and fun to play for a time, the short length of the single-player campaign and the lack of variety in the multiplayer ultimately leaves the game feeling unfinished and threadbare. It looks and sounds great, and it captures the essence of the series well, but there's not much else to keep you coming back once you've finished the short campaign and grown tired of playing multiplayer skirmishes between the two sides. It's good while it lasts, but it will appeal more to fans of Halo and casual RTS players than anyone looking for deeply engrossing strategy game.'
It sounds more like a 7.5 to me.
PS: Where's our Killzone 2 review GS? you must have had the game for atleast a month?

Nice. It is about time Halo got the flop score it has deserved. Great exclusive.
No thanks but I am enjoying House of the Dead Overkill and soon KillZone 2.
