Jesus, the end of chapter 6 is where this game starts to get ridiculous. Room after room, after room, after room of werewolves, those annoying ass snake skeleton looking things, and ninjas with exploding kunai. If that was not enough, once you finally get to Volf, he leaves you to even more werewolves and even more of those fast, snake skeletons. Then when you finally get to the Colosseum, the doors shut and you are bombarded with fireballs from those flying dragons with hardly any cover. Then finally the fight with Volf, who is not so bad, but after you beat him, the whole damn stadium full of werewolves attack you.
Now I am sure this was not a problem for a lot of you, however, my last save point before the Volf fight was with half a health bar, no ninpo, and no grains of life. So, after finally beating Volf with just a smidgen of health left, something just told me that the stadium full of werewolves were about to attack. Lo and behold, just when you though that you had been through enough insanity.....more god damn werewolves....uhhh.
Anyway, sorry about the rant, but I just had to say, I think that I have just screwed myself royally by not making 2-3 save slots. So let this be a warning to anyone who is just overwriting slot 1 all the way through. Turn on manual save and make a few saves per chapter with full supplies at different points. Otherwise, it will be a matter of time before you are in a similar dire situation like me, lol.
This game was smooth sailing for me up to this point, then all of the sudden the difficulty just ramped up to a "you have got to be kidding me" level. The reviews were not lying when they said that sometimes you will feel as if you have got the flow of things, only to be thrown a curve ball and have the difficulty jump up to a relentlessy ridiculous level. And yes, I have played and beaten the first one, but this one is definitely harder once you get to chapter 6, I do not care what anyone says.

Interesting impressions. Chapter 6 and Chapter 7 is actually when the game started really picking up for me.
Btw, for the warewolves after Volf, you're meant to use the Scythe that Ryu takes from Volf. I got through them using a mix of Lunar and Kusarigama since I didn't want to use a Scythe at only level 1, but I ended up getting a temporary loss in power (thanks random thunderstorms) before I saved so I had to do it again.
The second time against that group, I did use the Scythe and I tore through them with absolute ease, none of them hitting me at all. The Scythe is seriously a monster, even at its lowest level. Use if often, as it's easily the most effective "non-special" weapon in the game, and much like the Dabilahro from NG/NGB, it makes a great Boss Killer.
And as for the snake skeletons, I actually consider those to be some of the easiest enemies in the game. But maybe that's because I've had the Kusarigama at level 3 since I've gotten it, and it smacks them around quite well especially with its UT (second best UT in the game after the Scythe's with normal weapons). And the fact that those guys make up the majority of Test of Valor 4 has made that one by far the easiest so far.
And yeah, manual saves are the way to go. That was one of the very first settings I changed. It's worth it just for bosses. If you go up against a boss and you don't figure out his pattern until late, and you wasted some herbs in the process, the smart thing is to reload the save and use your knowledge to beat him more effectively now and save the health. Unless you farm essence, which is another way to go.
