Official October 2008 NPD Results

Wow, I'm just impressed with the Wii's momentum.  That's the highest amount it has sold this year in a nonholiday month.  I can't imagine how well it will do during November and December if it's selling almost a million before the big holiday season.

The 360 had a good month as well, but look on the bright side, the Playstation family sold 519k units.  That's more than the 360 and DS.

Why is the freaking PS2 selling over 100k?

That thing is a freaking juggernaut.

I'm betting 360 sells 900k - 1 million this month.

Next month I'm betting 1.4 - 1.5 million for Dec.

All 3 Sony products taken up the last spots. All feels right in the world when i see that.

Great software sales for the 360. 5 out of the top 10 with also the number one slot.

And dang the Wii it is just a monster with hardware. Funny some still call it a fad.

The Wii crushes and will continue to crush everything this entire generation. Cheapest 360 model $200. Cheapest PS3 model $400. I don't see how anyone could be surprised at the sells numbers. I am however shocked that gamers are passing up Little Big Planet it's this generations Okami/Ico/SOTC on a smaller scale..Flamestos

Price is obviously not the culpret, so you can nip that "360 is cheapest, so it sells most" b/s in the bud. 360 is cheaper than the Wii yet it still got destroyed in sales. What say yee now? Was price really t3h issue.

I know I was, don't know why it's not getting more love? The game is terrific.

Gratz lems on a good month.  X360 has the better up front price and for a lot of people right now that's understandably important; with everything that is happening in the economy, but PS3 is still the best value.

The Wii is worth the purchase.  It has many BIG NAME games that are already out.  What?  You expect people who are buying a new Wii to already have all its awesome games like SMG, MP3, No More Heroes, SSBB, Zelda, etc.?

I wasn't included the Wii obviously because nothing is touching it period. If the PS3 and the 360 were the same price I doubt the 360 would have that big of a lead over the PS3 if one at all.

Didn't you just say price wasn't the factor buddy? Fact is besides a few exclusives the PSE and 360 libraries are smiliar. The cheapest 360 is $200 and the cheapest PS3 is $400 so unless you just have to have Blu-Ray or Little Big Planet etc... it makes more sense to buy a 360. The majority of Wii gamers taste differ from PS3/360 owners so in that case the 360 being cheaper then the Wii isn't going to magically make it outsell it.

Considering that the Wii is selling a lot of software this gen, yes, that is fact.  Look at Mario Kart Wii.  It's been in the top 10 since it released 7 months ago.  These games are selling upwards of 7+ million copies and more.   Also, just because 360 and PS3 games fall off quickly doesn't mean that Wii games do the same.  There are many that have long legs and continues selling outside the top 10.  That's how the Wii continues to surprise with its software sales.

At least give credit to the creater of the gif at Neogaf. Anyway, LBP had about three days in Oct. whereas Fable had ten. Not saying LBP will ever pass Fable 2's lifetime sales but it will definitely have legs.
