Official "Now that the conferences are over" E3 Discussion Thread

Sony's first party showings is the only reason it was the best in my eyes. Killzone looked awesome!

Anyway I am dissapointed in all 3. M$ was a backstab to 360 owners b/c theyare porting Gears to PC so early. Nintendo was a joke especially the WiiFit and Sony was pretty boring but the MGS4 trailer and Killzone gameplay make up for it. All of them had their moments but I think Sony's was the the best (but still sucked compared to other years)

I can tell that most of the people here have never seen an E3 that didn't include a bunch of pre-launch console hype.

Sony did good with showing some actual game footage, and covering at least a little bit of a bunch of different games. The GT5 Prologue announcement was cool. Hopefully it will be a free download. The video of it didn't impress. It just seemed like more of the same. Cars can only look so good after awhile. The KZ2 gameplay footage was long overdue, although still doesn't look as good as the E3'05 stuff we were fed, but still looks good. The gameplay elements shown didn't reveal a whole lot of anything new. The one thing I did notice was that the big enemies with the chain guns apparently need to be shot in the back to kill them. I wish they had shown more of Little Big Planet, and less of Home. At least they revealed some good stuff on details about Home that we had not yet seen. I am still waiting for Cross-Game functionality though. New PSP version? Snore/ugh. You couldn't have done the video out on the original? Maybe you should have just held on to that idea for the PSP2 or whatever. You don't ALWAYS have to sneak in each new idea, thus marginally screwing over the existing owners.

Nintendo - Haven't see it, but have read quite a bit about WiiFit. This is decidedly a Nintendo venture. Metroid 3.... drooooool.

Microsoft - This could have been nothing but Halo 3 coverage and I would have been happy. So yes this made me happy. The special edition Halo 360 is kind of lame. Yet another SKU out there. 20gig but with HDMI? Didn't they say that the 120gig and HDMI went hand in hand when the Elite was announced? Is that not the case anymore? Reminds me of the N64 days when Nintendo started releasing 500 different colored versions of it. I have always thought this was lame. Leave the customization up to the end user... isn't this why we have faceplates? All these new versions of the consoles are starting to get out of hand. I remember back when the internet went up in flames the day MS announced multiple SKU's for the launch, and now BOTH have had at least 3 versions of their consoles, and Sony has multiple PSP's out there

In my opinion the best part about E3 is always the montages. I love em. Cram clips of 30 different games into a 2 minute montage, put it on repeat and I will buy stuff from you. I promise. All I want to see is video of games being played. That's it. If they want to talk about hardware a bit, then fine, but really I couldn't care less.

This E3 was definitely a disappointment. Sony's show I have not watched yet, but from hearing others talk, looks like Gran Turismo 5 was the only major new highpoint. Where were all the new games?! Nothing exciting, just big ticket titles we already knew about...

Oh well, off to play the Blue Dragon demo...

Sony was the best of the conferences because, unlike Nintendo and Microsoft, they focused on games, first and foremost.

That being said, I'm waiting to see what's going to happen on the show floor. That's where the real E3 takes place, not the press conferences.

- Awesome REAL-TIME MGS4 trailer.

Microsoft was boring. They showed no new interesting games, and new content on the previous games wasn't exciting at all.

Nintendo did alright, good to see Mario Kart. WiiFit looks weird, not sure if that's good enough for a purchase from me, but it will bring in more of the casual crowd. I hope we see more from Nintendo at TGS than we did here. There just wasn't enough content.

Sony wasn't Microsoft boring, but it wasn't Nintendo alright either. Redesigned PSP is little to be excited about, I don't know why I would want to use a TV to play a portable game (I feel the same way about Super GameBoy, GameBoy player, etc.), and Playstation 3 titles were either all shown at MS's conference, or shooters. I don't like shooters that much. LittleBigPlanet is going to be great, I alsocan't wait to see how the Sucker Punch! game turns out.

This years E3 was highly disappointing. All 3 companies didn't do well, but I think Nintendo did what they were trying to do - attract the casual crowd.

Nintendo definatly had the best conference. WiiFit looks increadible. I can't wait for Mario Cart and the Zapper is fantasic for only 20 bucks!

All of them were bad... Sony's was just, less bad. I was extremely disappointed in Nintendo.

Where was smash? Why didn't you show that AMAZING new SMG trailer? More on Mario Kart! Where's Disaster? What happened to Project HAMMER? Why didn't you announce Smash and BWii (confirmed online) in your online showing? Why not show something you have in the works for Wii Ware? Why not show 'Endless Ocean'? WHERE WERE ALL THE GAMES?

The conferences went as thus:

MS: Halo Halo Halo

Nintendo: Sales Montage Sales

Sony: Home Home Home

The big problem was that the "New E3" had nothing "New" in it. We had seen everything other then roughly one full game from each company (Viva Pinata minigame spinoff, Mario Kart Wii/Wii Fit, and Infamous). Nintendo barely spent any time on the games, MS showed only games we had already seen lots of, and Sony had no demonstrations at all, and barely spent any time on each game.

Worst E3 ever so far. All three conferences were just dire. Let's hope the show floor shows a lot more interesting stuff then green Xbox 360s from MS, endless pie charts from Nintendo and very slow walking in Home from Sony.

lol yeah I know but I've never been this much impressed by any other game in my life. And I'm not talking about this morning's trailer. I'm talking about the Sony Conference trailer (just in case you didn't know)

About UT3 on the PS3:

"when it is released later this year, and it will allow the importations of mods made for the PC version to the PS3".

Honestly, that is just something microsoft would never do without wanting to get payed for it. I think Sony really understood that they are in trouble and if they continue allowing mod imporations like this for free. The PS3 may well be a succes and Sony would be booming once more.

It doesn't seem like Nintendo and Microsoft took it seriously. Sony's was the best and most exciting, but also the most disappointing because they had the most to prove.. The new PSP was a total let down, they wouldn't stop plugging their other products (Spiderman 3, Blu Ray, Bravia, Ericsson), and it was quite humorous that they claimed games such as Madden and Guitar Hero as "exclusives". Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 stole the show for Sony, and saved it from being the most boring conference in the history of games.

Nintendo had some good announcments in between all of their talk about sales and expanding the market. They seemed very cocky, as if they could have a terrible E3 and still dominate the sales charts (which they probably will).

In all this is my evaluation of E3

Sony - 7/10 (not too many new IP's, but just showing MGS was enough for most along with Killzone which looks great graphically)

Nintendo - 6/10 (tried too hard to push their online which still is crappy...Mario kart looks the same as Double Dash?!? come on nintendo)

MS - 4/10 (Worst of them all, and i love my 360...but no Banjo? no Bioshock? thats my most anticipated game of the year...and Halo doesnt look too stunning)

Winner: Sony (by default though...Killzone pretty much gave them the win)

Loser: People who got excited for this...including me. Almost no new IP's announced from any company...basically just a rundown of each companies 2007 lineup...whooopie dooo im already excited for these games...show me something new to look foward too.

I thought this E3 was a steaming pile of crap and looks like next year its pretty much over...Extremely dissapointing attempt from all companies

I was VERY satisfied with this E3, but maybe it's because I think KZ2 is the most impressive game ever, both graphically and gameplay-wise (according to the trailers, of course)

Microsoft rule Sony was awesome Nintendo sucked.Better than 06 IMO except for Nintendo just yuck.

Oh do i get something for watching the rest of the e3 live?.Like a badge or something.Really I'm not interest in the rest of today events except for starcraft 2 but it was my lunch time.

I will watch the last event tho'.

Really 6 to Nintendo wow you must be a blind fanboy dude I'm glad the score was fixed but Nintendo score is still over rated by 2 points ;).

Also MS said they were multi-platform they just said they counted with a strong 3rd party support :| Sony did the same.

God of war Chains of Olympus,Silent hill 0,FF CC,Syphon filter LS,Castlevania Dracula X.IMO is better than what the DS is getting this year.Zelda is cool but thats it.I don't know if Dragon quest will hit america soon.

But yeah what the hell no second analog,I guess is just PSP lite then :|.Yet I'm impressed now you can play your PSP in the TV as well.Thats cool all handhelds need that,I think the GBA had something like that.
