forgot to add this to the THE FACTS YOU NEED TO KNOW: poor man's uncharted. lulz. seriously though hopefully its good and i think it will get a 8.0 on gamespot. one last thing check the link. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/381881/previews/tomb-raider-first-hands-on-with-laras-ambitious-reboot/ we'll say this: we don't know if the first two hours of Tomb Raider reflect the rest of the game, but we spent a lot of time crouching behind waist-high blocks of concrete, shooting at people. Weirdly, though, Lara will duck behind objects to avoid fire, but she can't lock to them - nor can she pin against walls or lean out from corners. So even though many set-pieces are designed exactly like a cover shooter, complete with conveniently placed chunks of scenery to cower behind, there's no cover system to speak of. It's almost as if Crystal Dynamics were trying to distance themselves from Uncharted, resulting in a game with something of an identity crisis. The open areas are better, with classic Tomb Raider-style platforming puzzles, and the island itself looks stunning. The rain-lashed temples and shadowy, torchlit jungles are brilliantly atmospheric, and the rusted remnants of World War 2 bunkers paint a vivid picture of its history. It's a fascinating setting, but we hope there's more freedom to explore it later in the game. Our biggest concern is that it doesn't really feel like Tomb Raider. It's a good action game, but that's not what we want from Lara Croft. We've yet to experience that feeling of entering a huge chamber and wondering how the hell we're going to reach the top, or being baffled by a complex puzzle. We encountered a few entertaining physics puzzles, but Lara's survival instinct mode, which highlights important objects with a telltale glow, made them too easy. It's an incredibly cinematic game, with beautiful animation - but sometimes it all feels a little too scripted, like all you're doing is moving a cut-scene on by holding forward on the analogue stick. In one scene towards the end of our hands-on, Lara has to climb a huge radio tower atop a blizzard-battered mountain. This would've been ripe for an awesome climbing puzzle, but instead you just hold forward and the game does the rest. There's no feeling of danger. we like the use of Metroid-style gear-gating the most. In those big hub areas, you sometimes come across obstacles that there's seemingly no way to pass. Then, an hour later, you'll return with a new tool you've unlocked and have a flash of inspiration. An early example of this are craggy rock faces that Lara can't grab hold of, but can be scaled as soon as you find the climbing axe. It gives you a sense of progress and rewards backtracking. That said, our first two hours with the game was a little disappointing, but only in the respect to how it compares to Crystal Dynamics' own (and Core's earlier) Tomb Raiders. It's a gorgeous, polished, well-produced action game, but there was too much shooting, too many scripted sequences, and not enough exploration and puzzle solving. But we have no way of knowing how reflective this is of the larger experience, so we're still remaining cautiously optimistic until its release on March 5.TheGuardian03
Yahooo! dat wall of text
If we go by what this preview indicates, me assumes it will get lucky to get a 8.5 here.
Anywhoo...Im thinking 7.0 throu 8.0 is what we could be seeing in GS.
Eh, it ain't that bad for the poor ma-......yada-yada-yada , you know the rest :P
[QUOTE="Jankarcop"][QUOTE="campzor"]7.5 cons: -Poor mans Uncharted -Unwanted QTE's -The need to protect her -Not tomb raidy enough -Breast size reduction Pros: GraphicsFrozenLiquid
I find her more attractive with the new breast size. Too large breasts can be unnapealing (like she had before), and studies have shown this. Her new perky ones rock.
They've always been perky, which is why women have been WTFing about her since the 90's. Big breasts don't look that good, ever. i agree, i dont like big breasts..but had to put in anywaysWhat the fvck? US doesnt get the art book? OFFICIALLY RAGING AT THIS DECISIONCapitan_Kid
Yeah, I'm pretty steamed by this as well. The lithograph looks nice and all, but a single artwork isn't the same as a collected works in a book :( Though I'll probably pick up my copy at Bestbuy for the Aviatrix skin and that comic book with the backstory (I'm guessing what takes place on the Endurance before the crash).

Problem with your poll there, Adobe. What if there aren't any longtime fans who got into the series rather recently with the newer installments? (Exactly my case here).nintendoboy16
Limited options and all. If there was the room, I would have included, "If Sniper gets this game, then I'm SOLD" :P

I'm not holding my breath, but I'll check the game out. If it ends up being poor man's Uncharted, I'll pass. Just like GRID which is poor man's Forza. You guys should stick with the originals that does the best.
I can smell a QTE fest from this one. But I may be wrong.
OP, GMG are doing an offer that includes the new Tomb Raider.

[QUOTE="burgeg"]Actually is trying to improve it for the Uncharted crowd but failing miserably for what we've heard.Focusing on the "cinematic" experience is not improving. The platforming and puzzles in Uncharted are utter garbage. The only reason the series is popular is because it looks pretty and has cool looking set pieces. So yeah, this game is doing that exact same thing. It seems to be doing things just as well as Uncharted on the presentation side too. This game isn't actually failing at what it's attempting. That's the problem.Where's the I'm a longtime fan and this game is dumbing the series down for the Uncharted crowd option?
kuraimen
But hey at least the combat side of the gameplay is an improvement over previous games. The only other improvements are visual and about the presentation.
I think the idea for the game is spot on, but do far the execution seems to be a bit all over the place. It's a bit too up and down looking and inconsistent. But that's judging from not playing so maybe I should hold off.
I just feel they will miss the potential and the execution of the ideas won't be what it could be.

Ah yes, Jenn Croft is an excellent cosplayer. Though my own favourite is Tanya Croft. She done literally every outfit from every game, but here are a few samples :D
Oh and I'm not gonna post em here, but if you follow the link to her Deviant Art page, be sure to check out the "TR legend Black" gallery. You will thank me ;) ;)
And she just recently did the new reboot Lara :)

I feel the same, I wish for the game to succed, but I have my share of concerns. Will let the reviews and community feedback decide this one for me...
Long time fan of the series and my hype is low, and diminishing every time they talk about the game. The Tomb Raider series always centered on platforming mechanics to solve large, unforgiving environmental puzzles, with occasional battles against creatures/baddies and the odd "Boss Fight" thrown in. This game seems hellbent on reversing that, with a much larger focus on battles (I swear if I hear the devs drone on about gunplay one more time I'm gonna cry), with precious little puzzle solving to be found, and often pushed to the optional small tomb you can discover while hunting/battling bad guys/QTEs.... Basically everything the series is NOT.
It's sad, because Tomb Raider NEEDED a reboot, a return to its core after years of tacked on extras, devolving controls, and storyline that grew increasingly absurd. Instead this game seems a Tomb Raider in name only. Instead of focusing on the core concepts of the series, they've chosen to take a "me too" approach of apeing the trendy concepts of modern gaming and slapping their name on it. Maybe it'll be a good game for what it is, but whatever it is, it ain't Tomb Raider.
...Great Job on the thread though! :)
Oh yes, I know her :P She has some amazing stuff too. My pick is still Dayna though :DAh yes, Jenn Croft is an excellent cosplayer. Though my own favourite is Tanya Croft. She done literally every outfit from every game, but here are a few samples :D
