Mario's mustache is a trademark, just as Dante's white hair. yes, all people play games to have fun, but characters are what makes a game as well. the greatest games in the world owe a lot to their characters. DMC was released 9 years ago. and people loved it. so much so, that it inspired games like God Of War, Bayonetta, etc.

anyone who onlycares about gameplay and nothing else is just absurd. there are alot of things that make a game great. you can't only rely on 'tight platforming' to make Mario a good game. that's why everyone identifies the original Mario stage music, because it's catchy and really good for its time. same thing with other games. audio, graphics, gameplay, etc. all play a part in games.

Why shouldn't I compare it? DMC is DMC, revamp or not. RE4 was still compared to RE3 and such and that was a revamp. As far as I'm concerned this is DMC 5, and this new look is how I would have pictured Nero when he was younger....

Oh and how should the look fit Dante in that surrounding? In that setting? In the story? Given he is also supposed to look younger and sport an even bigger attitude. Maybe, but that emo look isn't cutting it for me. I don't mind a different look, but I really hate how emos look, I would have preferred a biker look or something, emo annoys me.

Actually I do consider myself fan of the Mario. In fact, I'm such a big fan of the games that I'm willing to give each one of them a try no matter what changes they make to the franchise. I've bought every 3D Mario knowing that I'd most likely not like them and yet I still got them regardless so you can't tell me I'm not fan.

Also, I love how I said gameplay matters most than mario design and you bring up stuff like audio and graphics out of nowhere. I'd love to have the mario music in each and every mario music as well as nice graphics. I'm just saying that gameplay matters the most to me.

Perfect Example since I'm talking on the subject of 3D Marios. I love everything about the game, it's really a beautiful game and has an beautiful soundtrack, but I cannot get into the game at all. The gameplay just doesn't do it for me.

Hopefully you can surely understand what I mean by gameplay matters the most to me and try not to say that I'm not a fan.

Let me put it this way.. If they turned Mario into Sonic the hedgehog and passed it off as a Mario game nobody would like it. Nobody that likes Mario games that is. The same applies here.
