[QUOTE="Chris_Williams"][QUOTE="tagyhag"] I like Sony's method. Only problem is that the cable is f*cking short as balls.tagyhag
you can get a 10 feet usb cable on amazon for $2.00. I don't even wanna hear that excuse.

Ah that makes it okay then. Thank you Sony! Giving me the freedom to choose the length instead of packing it in yourselves!

You could use the same argument for 360 honestly, some here go "Oh you can just get rechargeable batteries, but that also required a charger and the purchase of the batteries."

I agree the usb cable is too short however, I hook that thing up to my PC to mimick my PS3 pad as a 360 controller for a ton of games, so I'm def going to go search for that longer cord.

Is there a good reason for this? My ps3 sixaxis in-built battery pack lasted since launch. Both controllers. That's 6 years already

For my 360 however, I had to buy rechargeable batteries and a charger. And AA rechargeable batteries have a lifespan of about only 1 year (sometimes less). Then it gets flat every 2 days. Then I resorted to buying non-rechargeable AA batteries because they don't suddenly get flat. And buying batteries over the course of so many years does indeed cost money.

It's 2013 and MS is still using this archaic method? And no, that bullshit excuse about having to replace the whole controller when an in-built battery pack fails, is no longer a valid argument. We have a precedent case, and that argument was MS's rubbish excuse. In-built battery packs lasts longer than the controller itself.

Your PS3 sixaxis has nearly 30 hours less play-ability than the Xbox 360 controller with AA batteries. Why do you think they are still using them for the Xbox one?

I have some rechargeables that I got with my first digital camera over 10 years ago that STILL work just fine. If your rechargeables are lasting a year or less there is something wrong with your charger or you.

WOW yeah, I didn't read his post. Something is wrong if his batteries only last a year max. You would think that at some point he would be smart enough to try a different brand, but I guess not. Every rechargeable batterie we have dating back to 15 years ago still work.

Xbox is more expensive. My situtation: Core 2008 xbox $300 wifi dongle $100. because M$ was prehistoric and didn't have wifi built in. Even the wii did  Xbox live for 5 years : $200. M$ is cheap and charges when you already bought their console and pay for internet Blu ray player: $200 Sony PS3 in 2008 was $500 and a better deal.

You're situation is fake with many problems and lol at the blu-ray player.

Joke post.

My PS3 controller has out lasted by a large margin every damn battery i havy bough for my 360,including rechargeable duracell ones,so yeah you may get a 20 hours more, but when those batteries are done is money spending time.

MS use those because they have something else to sell you on launch clearly at their over priced price.

A duracel Charger with 2 double AA bateries goes for like $14,the xbox 360 one was $20 on launch.

Ms is a greedy company just like Sony is greedy company but Ms should been putting the charge and play kits in with the xbox box but not a deal breaker at all. People that make it seem like gaming is some type of cheap hobby make me laugh cause paying 20 for rechargble batteries is pushing you to your financial budget maybe a 400-500 console isnt the best thing to buy at that point .

It has nothing to do with that and everything to do with MS ripping off people.

What can you spec from a company that want you to pay them for allowing you to use netflix on their console, when the rest of the world does it without extra charges.

The xbox one is already $100 more than the PS4 while been weaker, and while having every possible feature the unit has locked behind a damn paywall.

$20 more is a joke.

based of that 50 dollars for playing online when pc and wii U doesn't is a rip off as well. Yes the Xbox is 100 more but also has more features whether you like the features or not.

You guys love irony don't you?

Anyway I would assume this is just so they sell more accessories which is shitty for consumers. It's not like using batteries is a make or break thing though.

Am I the only one who prefers the AA batteries as opposed to the ps3 method? Plugging a controller in to charge sucks balls. Rotating ready to go battery packs is sooooo much better to me. TheEroica

Im sure there are another 12 of you out there somewhere.

My dualshock 3 starts blinking red when the battery gets low. I have a thin 10ft usb to min usb cable I got off ebay for like 2 bucks shipped, I plug it in, in less than an hour the thing is fully charged again while I am playing, I unplug and good for another 10-12 hours hours of play. I bought a ds3 when it came out and I still get around 12 hours or more of it in a single charge.

No extra weight from the batteries.

No need to spend money on buying new batteries, and no need to buy rechargeables and even have to replace them every year or so.

I've had my ps3 controllers since 2007 and they still retain charge just as well as the day I got them.

And they charge fast as well. Can't wait for the DS4, it looks awesome.

There are advantages to using AA batteries. Not only can you use a battery pack interchangeably (allowing you to switch out batteries for a charging pack whenever you want) but it allows the controller to outlive the battery pack. Personally, I prefer controllers that use batteries. Especially considering I have to throw out my PS3 controllers when they finally die.

Good ol' Microsoft working with the battery companies to milk more cash out of you. This is why other companies involved with gaming love Microsoft they know how to milk that cash not only into Microsoft's pockets but other companies pockets as well. A big example is Activision going to M$ and saying, " Hey you're making money charging for online, but most of your customers play our game Call of Duty so we want a piece of the pie" Did Microsoft comply? Hell yes. This is why I'm jumping ship I was with Microsoft the past two generations, but I'm tired of their money grubbing ways.

Hey like you said, it's only $2 right? So why can they be excused but I can't? Mass buying for them means it's even cheaper.

I rather have a longer cable than that cheap piece of sh*t "headset" that they're bundling with the PS4.

You could use the same argument for 360 honestly, some here go "Oh you can just get rechargeable batteries, but that also required a charger and the purchase of the batteries."

I don't think i'll be an early adopter this time either, the launch for both systems is looking fairly weak aside from KillZone shadowfalls bad ass graphics.

The good thing about using batteries is that once they die you just replace them and you're good to go. Whereas on PS3, for example, when your controller starts losing it's charge you have to keep it plugged in constantly or buy a new controller. I don't even disconnect my controller from my PS3 anymore because the battery doesn't last that long.

And you can still play with play and charge on x1 also.. so wtf is this thread for besides revealing the imbecility of the cow?

Except the batteries only last 3 days if you're a "hardcore" (I hate using that term) gamer you game a lot so you have to buy batteries every 3 days that gets expensive after a while. I bought the play and charge kit and after awhile you have to keep it plugged up just like you said you had to do with your PS3 controller. So at least with the PS3 you didn't have the buy the cord or worry about batteries in the first place. That's money saved.

I've never had any ps3 controllers battery go bad on me i still have my 1st controllers from my ps3 from 07 and they still work fine. It amazes me how many idiots on system wars don't realise you can buy a replacement battery for the ds3 for 6 bucks online lol. Microsoft should be ashamed for still using aa batteries but what do you expect from a company that said we don't need wi fi or hdmi last gen lol

And in some cases, 360 does things a tad better than PS3.

Am I the only one who prefers the AA batteries as opposed to the ps3 method? Plugging a controller in to charge sucks balls. Rotating ready to go battery packs is sooooo much better to me. TheEroica

yes, you are the only one.

You do know the xbox dOne controller is both wireless and wired now right? You don't even need batteries you can connect it through usb and it runs in wired mode.

It's funny. You can spot the people who honestly haven't used the 360. Unless you are using some absolutely bottom of the barrel rechargables, the 360 battery life IS way better than the DS3, and not by a couple hours. That also not counting that most of us have so many things that use AA batteries that you can use interchangeably with the 360. This is certainly a case where the proprietary method is NOT the better option. I can use my 360 controller wired with no battery, wireless with a battery charger, wired to charge the battery, etc etc. I can use the 360 in the exact same manner as the DS3(IE plugging the controller in to charge and play) with a cord that is long enough to actually use, OR I have those options.
