This is going to be just another sub-par Uncharted rip off...

I always saw it like that and IMO it doesn't look that bad, at least for what it is.
Oh...and the regen health is pretty stupid, it shouldn't be there.
I like 12-15 hour games. I don't have the time to play as much, so I prefer a compact experience as long as its high quality. ...save for Zelda, of course.Source

The games length, which will reportedly clock in at a respectable 12-15 hours.
12 to 15 + depending on your play style.
Whether or not Lara can swim. Hint: she cant. At least there wont be water levels.
Lara can swim, but just not in this game.
The game will most likely have a few references (and maybe Easter Eggs) to the first game.
Youll just have to wait and see.
The story will have plenty of twists, much like my favorite drinking straw.
We love twists here at Crystal D.
A sequel is definitely on the cards if the game does well.
Why of course.
Finally, the subject of health was touched upon. Lets just say no medkits will be found within the game.
Regenerative. No need for items.XVision84
So much for an open world survival game. This is going to be just another sub-par Uncharted rip off, I had faith in this but it seems like all the developers are interested in is cinematic flair. Seems like another case of style over substance.

I was going to post a thread but I would've probably not been taken seriously.
My friend playtested the game at Square Enix Montreal and he said it took him about 9 hours to finish. There's still a lot of polishing left, but its mostly for glitches and multiplayer balances, (yes there's multiplayer for hunters vs survivors).
There are only 5 weapons in the game, (pickaxe, bow, pistol, rifle (I believe? have to ask him again) and shotgun). All weapons can be upgraded (bow gets the zoom feature, pistol magically becomes a magnum by sawing off the barrel, shotgun becomes a sawed off, etc. Multiplayer is Bow focused cuz its OP.
If you thought the quick time events and Lara constantly squirming while platforming was annoying in the demos, its like that the whole game. He hasn't played Uncharted 3, but said that its way too over the top with how many times he got completely wrecked in the game and he only bruised her stomach after a series of tumbles. Not very realistic according to him.
He finished Uncharted 1 only since he only has a 360, but says that even UC1 is better. Would give it a 6 or 5 because the game is too repetitive and the survival sh*t (like killing animals to eat) you only really do in the beginning. He did say the story is good though. I can't spoiler tag, but if anyone wants to know about the environments, lemme know. It's very diverse from jungle to ... other stuff lol.

Now y'all don't have to believe me, but I believe him since I've known him for a while and he also told me valid info on AC3 before release since he playtested that at Ubisoft Montreal as well. I'm still going to get it later on, but I'm very weary on a day one buy now. It sucks since it's my most anticipated of next year.
Any questions, lemme know.

Really?:|
Might be false but if that's true then good god, why add something like that to this game? In all liklehood the game is ok but I doubt it's controls will be tight enough for a competitive MP side of things.
Considering the "source", I would take the multiplayer testimony with a pound of salt. Besides that, Crystal Dynamics never claimed this was going to be an "open world" game. Certainly not along the lines of Skyrim or GTA. It does have expansive open environments that afford exploration, but each its own space connected by a hub system.

[QUOTE="XVision84"]When was Tomb Raider ever about survival?I thought everybody was looking forward to a Tomb Raider with great survival elements and an open-ended environment. The whole survival aspect was a big part of past Tomb Raider games, they pretty much just reversed that and took away everything good. With the amount of hate cinematic games like Uncharted get here, I'm surprised to see people supporting it :P.
freedomfreak
Exactly. The original games were about exploration and adventure, featuring a capable and powerful leading lady. Those core qualities of exploration are still there, but the reboot also takes a new direction going back to the origins of an inexperienced Lara who still has to grow and develop her survival skills.

My hype was already at 0, so you didn't kill anything, and that means I won this bet!
Give me my prize!
Really? :|Why would anyone be hyped for a tomb raider game unless they're a sad virgin?
goblaa
I wasn't interested in Tomb Raider just because of Lara Croft, I was interested because I like Archaeology-Adventure stuff (like Indiana Jones) and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (GameCube) being one of my favorite games playing a factor as well.
And nothing has changed..freedomfreakwho is the babe you keep posting in the supergirl costum? I gotta know!! You have links?
lol ego. You cannot swim...SWIM in a tomb raider game...a surival based game...no swimming. automatic fail. even tho shes been shown countless times soaked in it.All you did was increase my hype, thanks TC.

He is right. game looks terrible cutscene game. if anyone getting this game just for lara then its sad. and I prefer playing as badass male characters like Riddick.SNIPER4321
You call others sad while constantly claiming you only want to play as manly men.
You are so insecure

Old Tomb Raider games didn't have health regen and had a lot of intense levels, especially some water levels. They got rid of that, and for a game that's all about a woman trying to survive on a remote island, it's pretty surprising seeing that she can't swim. They're just making the game more and more accessible adding in all this and QTE's.
Sounds bad.
If this is the case, I won't buy it.
Why would you ever need gameplay mechanics when you can have an epic and compelling cutscene/QTE like this?
When Legend and Underworld were released people were complaining that the games were still the same as the old games and that there was nothing new.
And now that they do change things people are complaining that the previous ones were so much better than this game.
Oh the irony

Ah the ignorance. Yes I'm talking about you. To say the Legend - Underworld games were the same as previous games in the series is beyond stupid. In fact people COMPLAINED THEY WERE TOO DIFFERENT. Me included. Those games completely changed the way Tomb Raider played. Some people thought for the better. Some people thought for the worse. Bottom line: You're completely wrong. Anyone complaining the Legend trilogy did nothing different to the previous games has never played a Tomb Raider game in their life.
The Legend backlash was actually pretty similar to the backlash of this game. Complaints at how linear it was compared to previous games. Complaints at how dumbed down and linear it was. Of course CD improved a lot with Anniversary and Underworld though.

Nope, people complained about how the combat system still wasn't any good. Making the combat more like Uncharted is a change for the better. The story was weak too, this game looks like it will have a far better story. Again a change for the better.
Change too much = people complain
Change too little = people complain
Same thing with Max Payne 3. It was a great game but still people complained because it wasn't exactly the same as Max Payne 1&2.
I enjoyed all the Tomb Raider games as well as the Uncharted trilogy. I will enjoy this game too so I'm glad to be ignorant like you say if it means me enjoying more great games :)
