If any game on XBL would have dedicated servers, I would imagine it would be this one.

Ok! I'm sure almost everyone knows this the game came out ages ago are you just trying to bash the 360 with all these threads you seem to be making. Check the date of the link its from 2007!!
It is sad that Sony provides dedicated servers to some first party games for free, while I pay for Live and get none
And yet it's the most played exclusive FPS on console and it's praised for its multiplayer. Cows are really digging hard, aren't they. 9.5 > 9.0's.

I don't notice any when on Warhawk's dedicated servers.
And I don't experience lag when I play Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4 on XBL. What's your point? Because I don't experience severe lag, does that mean lag doens't exist? Wonderful logic. You're getting worse. And yet it's the most played exclusive FPS on console and it's praised for its multiplayer. Cows are really digging hard, aren't they. 9.5 > 9.0's.

I too agree the TC was a bit silly for posting this. But the Lemming attack back? :| Nice one...
It's been known for years TC, and as stated, Halo 3 is still one of the most popular FPS online at the moment, so it really doesn't seem to affect it.

Why exactly is it peer to peer again? it's how microsoft is like. it is a good question for that. we are paying $50, 40 a month for a peer to peer connection.

Nope, just stating it like it is. We all know the infamous emotep (TC).

My point is that not every game has (noticeable) lag.AntiTypeDuring some time, there will be. Dedicated servers are not immune to such, they help reduce lag but lag will still -- and it most certainly does -- occur. There's so many variables that affect latency, most of which I won't waste my time explaining to you.

Well when you correct for inflation a 9.5 would be much more than a 9.5 today. I think it would be nearing 10...

True.
Is a dedicated server model vs a peer to peer model one if these variables?
Peer to Peer = Having a friend come over for dinner and cooking dinner for him/her yourself.
Dedicated server = Going to a restaurant for Dinner.
Xbox Live = Going to a restaurant for dinner, paying for it, but having to cook the dinner yourself and provide your own cutlery, plates and glasses. XD
I get 5 ping playing dedicated servers on TF2. P2P is the worst way to get a game going.clembo1990And I see other players which get in the 200 ping area -- the spot in which they're skipping about the map. Every tried killing a Pyro who's moving around like a stop-motion film?
not resistance 2/fall of man. idk what insomniac do there. it has 0 lag.SilverChimeraAnd let me guess: this is based off personal experience?
Stevo_the_gamerNo it's always super smooth for me. Plus I usually play as pyro and kill the laggy weaker classes.

read the review standard.....read how gamespot and many other websites base their reviews.......for example....a 10/10 game is an outstanding game compared to every other games Standards during that Time of the games release........meaning a game like mgs4 got 10/10, but if a clone of mgs4 were released today, and gave the exact same features, gameplay, visuals, fun, etc......it still wouldnt get a 10/10 now........argubly....2009....9....>......2007.....9.5Supa__Mario

But if you want to be totally technical about it, no lag will never go away.VandalvideoMost fail to understand that very fundamental -- and common sense -- principle. Nevertheless, how rare must these servers be? I've heard nothing of the such.

you do understand that xbox live does NOT use a p2p network structure right? P2P means that all clients that participate in the data exchange act as both client and server which means there is NO host. Games played over xbox live provides hosts and everyone that connects to them are the clients which meanas that unlike a p2p network they dont share their a cumulative bandwidth. Thats why the have something called "host advantage", also in order a p2p network would provide alot of hassle to those operating behind a NAT enabled router, whcih means everyone who wants to connect to a game would need to port foward etc
Most fail to understand that very fundamental -- and common sense -- principle. Nevertheless, how rare must these servers be? I've heard nothing of the such. Not entirely sure. All I know is my clan's sponsor gave us one. I'm pretty sure only richies and big clans have them.[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"]Once you get to LAN level, the only lag that exists is the lag based on controller input and computer power. Shooter standards haven't changed.
Halo 3 is still the #1 most played console exclusive.
