Unfortunately GeOW2 is destined to be made using the UE3 which is already showing signs of age this gen, and we're already seeing games that look better than those made using the Unreal Engine. Secondly, MGS4, GTA IV, & Resistnace 2 will all outshine Gears 2 I'm afraid. Hell, Alan Wake will outshine Gears 2. That's the game to be hyping for the 360. But neither of them are confirmed for 2008... so I'm not really sure what to look forward to on the 360 this year although I will look forward to both of those games whenever they are released.

Also, this thread reeks of fanboyism anyway considering that this website is the only one on which the PS3 does not have a AAAE. It's pretty well accepted that the PS3 has a very respectable library of great games at this point.

Hell i liked gears better than halo. I know that isn't the majority i'm just saying for the sake of it. I prefer the over the shoulder cam. I guess it's because there are WAY to many fps out there

But... Gears of War sucked! I think the last thing the Xbox 360 needs to liven up its games catalogue is yet another gun fuelled shooter. Especially the sequel to the "run to the centre and blindfire a shotgun" game/"characters with the least depth ever" game/"impcomprehensibly poorly structured and explained plot" game/"lag!!!" game.

I couldn't care less if Gears of War 2 came out this year, next year or 300 years from now (although the last one is preferable).

The first Gears was not bigger than Resistance. In all the comparisons, Resistance was the game it went up against at launch. And many publications such as gametrailers, XPlay, gameinformer, etc agreed that both games offered equally impressive gaming experiences. Resistance's online gameplay was universally viewed as being better than Gears... and that trend is certain to continue with 8 person co-op and 60 player squad based online. Gears was a great game. But you have to admit, once you got into it the best thing about it was its gore and graphics. There was not much new in the way of gameplay or design.

Who knows Gears 2 may push the envelop more, there's really no way to know yet, but I highly doubt it. And like I said, they'll still be using the Unreal Engine which is not making as many advancements as Insomniac's engine. Not only are they pushing graphics which may be unrivaled on any system (including other games on the PS3), but if you've been able to get a copy of the last Game Informer then you know that they are including gameplay elements that have never been done in a game before, ESPECIALLY in an fps... they are pushing games forward with Resistance 2. That's a lot for Gears 2 to try and match.

Well, I didn't think it sucked... it was just overhyped. People were hyped because the Unreal Engine was very impressive at the time and most of the hype was around the graphics. But it was a pretty standard action game, with somewhat lackluster online gameplay (considering Epic made the game). Gears has a lot more competition in today's environment though so I definitely don't think this is the game to be hyping for the 360. My vote would go to Alan Wake.... Too Human could even turn out to be a gem, although I still have serious doubts about this game. But regardless, the PS3 has a lot more to offer this year.

Except the fact us "Cows" are naming MULTIPLE games who all are great console-sellers (MGS4, Resistance 2, GranTurismo 5, Final Fantasy 13) And no I'm not even naming games like Killzone 2 and Little Big Planet yet because they need still need to prove they're system sellers. However they can all still easily kick GeoW2's bum so I have no clue what our so-called "excuses" are..

It's just an update to the same engine UE3. Most of the games we've seen this year have been made using updates to the orginal UE3. UT3 on the PS3 looks wonderful, but the engine is not the most advanced on the market anymore, that's all.

Well, to be fair, you're ignoring his point... the PS3 outsold the 360 with 0 AAAE (according to you). And regardless of the price drop, the 360 had a price drop as well and was still cheaper to purchase. And then there's the fact that PS3's NA sales are beginning to catch up to the 360 as well...
