How? Gears is bigger than resistance. Gears is almost on a Halo level.The first Gears was not bigger than Resistance. In all the comparisons, Resistance was the game it went up against at launch. And many publications such as gametrailers, XPlay, gameinformer, etc agreed that both games offered equally impressive gaming experiences. Resistance's online gameplay was universally viewed as being better than Gears... and that trend is certain to continue with 8 person co-op and 60 player squad based online. Gears was a great game. But you have to admit, once you got into it the best thing about it was its gore and graphics. There was not much new in the way of gameplay or design.
Who knows Gears 2 may push the envelop more, there's really no way to know yet, but I highly doubt it. And like I said, they'll still be using the Unreal Engine which is not making as many advancements as Insomniac's engine. Not only are they pushing graphics which may be unrivaled on any system (including other games on the PS3), but if you've been able to get a copy of the last Game Informer then you know that they are including gameplay elements that have never been done in a game before, ESPECIALLY in an fps... they are pushing games forward with Resistance 2. That's a lot for Gears 2 to try and match.
Which game sold more and pushed more systems and pushed more xbox live accounts.? Gears is also a TPS it doesn't have to match Resistance 2 which is a FPS. Gears is loved because of it isn't a chaotic mess.thats why its hard to talk to cows, they actually think Resistance II is going to be better than Gears II. YOu can beat your house on the fact that EPIC willout due Insomnia, come on now.
Excuse me fanboy, but I'm no cow... I also own a 360. And I really have no doubts that Resistance 2 will be better based on the information that's been provided.
@too much eslim, if you're talking game sales then it's up in the air... who knows. Harry Potter games sale a million copies too, who cares?! If you're talking the best game, then Gears 2 has more to prove at this point. Because we already have some solid info on Resistance 2... and whether or not its an fps, it's pushing gaming forward, period. The first Resistance was not a chaotic mess. And I found the single player campaign and story much more enjoyable than Gears. Gears had better graphics in my opinion but Resistance also had more action on screen without any slow down whatsoever. Clearly, everything points to Resistance 2 being more technically advanced as well... and the Game Informer article makes it seem that it will be ahead in the gameplay dept again too. Hey, if Gears 2 is great then cool... but if you're an informed gamer it just seems foolish to put it up against MGS4 or Resistance 2 in the gameplay department. I'll be surprised if it even stacks up against them graphically.
