Seriously, I've only just really thought about this due to discussion in another thread...

But browsing now, I see 1000s (well...1113 to be precise at this moment :P) of independently developed titles - some of which seem astoundingly deep for the price offered (80MSP or around a £1 for a 5/6 hour long JRPG parody for example).

Trying a few now, but if anyone has any recommendations because I've got points to spare atm.

Will PSN get something similar? I'm not asking to try and insult it, but it's a great addition and good for budding developers - an advantage for the XBL platform.

I can't believe I've overlooked it for so long...they all have pretty decent trials too - so even if the cheap price isn't appealing, you still get to try lots of new things. Playing some CRAZY rail shooter now :P Beautiful - think it's called Prismatic Solid

Massive overreaction. The JRPG i tihnk you're speaking of is the highest rated game on there, and every other game sucks horribly. There's a couple decent ones for like 400pts, but they pale in comparison to 400pt arcade games. Seriously, most are just stupidly simple avatar games, or ones where it's just a screen saver.

What? So what if I'm looking at the highest rated ones? I've played an extremely addictive little game called Headshot, rail shooter, a work simulator (strangely....good), now I'm downloading a platformer, followed by a physics playground. There's a lot of rubbish - but that's the same with a lot of things like this. Sift through and find the gems.

Well tbh, that's why I've avoided it - because I thought it was going to be 'average quality' at best. But there seem to be things on there (even at 80MSP) that really shine.

Believe it's called Apple Jack - I'm literally browsing down from the top rated and going from recommendations online.

Every game on there is trash. Except the JRPG game (which i heard was decent) miner dig deep, and i made a game with zombies. Almost literally every other game is god awful boring.

I know it may get a laugh to say I would buy and XBOX for indie games, but there just isn't much else on the system I would want to play. ME, Kameo, and that's about it.

I agree with this. I have a hand full of Indie Games. Plus the majority of them are $1 dollar games! I don't know any console that offers these Independant games for a dollar. There are always new Indie Games like every day. And I also like how you can try a free trial for every game on XBL too.

lol no. That was actually the game I was going to mention though. For a while I wasn't even bothering to look at the Indie games, but that one really sparked my interest and I noticed that the quality of the games in general has improved a bit. There's also an impossible game that features Avatars. Kinda cool but doesn't beat the original imo.

Fair enough :) It was pretty enough visually to grab me, and brought it because I'm finding it pretty addictive. Any other recommendations?

I think I tried it on the iPhone (I think it's a flash game as well), it was just too frustrating for me.

I was going to ask about this :P - but if they're updated pretty much all the time, that's awesome. Yeah, as people have said - there are awful games, but finding a gem (like I just have) for 69p according to a converter....not bad at all!

Pretty much everything but FPS and stealth action. It's not just about the genre either. I don't have hours to spend at a time on games, so smaller indie games do appeal to me. I'm also single-player focused.

If you look at 360 exclusives, there isn't much more me. That's changes when you add XBOX Live Arcade.

They don't intrigue me as much as a big budget title no, but discovering some fun games I can play when in the mood for something different, is always a bonus. I've always liked flash games etc. and I'm well aware PC was there first - I think it's a neat idea how they've integrated it onto a console though.

there's a lot of good stuff on Steam. I'm playing from the Mac side, so I'm limited, but I know Steam is great for indie games, and you don't need a really powerful rig to play them.

Haven't bothered checking any out because 90% of them look kind of crap and there's a neverending stream of them. That you can sort them by rating never crossed my mind for some reason.

If you want a platformer that's hard (and potentially frustrating) you could play this.

They should have a create/share/play system like yoyogames, it would be fun (for me) to play random users games.

One of my favs is Weapon of Choice. Got it for $5. It's like Contra on acid.

Here's the unofficial main character roasting a giant mosquito/catapillar's udders with a jet engine. Yeah baby!:P

Hmm, I'll have another look through tomorrow - there are quite a few lists online recommending some so might work through that if I'm bored. I'm finding Apple Jack to be a really good game - despite the insane difficulty.

I have yet to find an indie game on XBL that really grabs my attention. That's not to say the games are bad, but it's too tempting to just pop in a full-fledged 360 game, or play an XBLA game.

Yeah I agree, because indie games are that....they get very little exposure, unless they're really really special. I disagree with someone saying they're all bad, because out of 1000+ titles there's got to be some gems. I found a gamespot union with reviews of user indie games also - http://uk.gamespot.com/pages/unions/forums/show_topics.php?board_id=909187722&union_id=19694 I don't view them as huge alternatives to an XBLA/retail title - but it's nice to try something different on my 360. Same reason I like small flash games online, etc.

Dude im always talking about this! I love indie games! Apple Jack, Miner Dip Deep, Zombie Estate, and so many others are just so much fun! I Love the price tag of 1$ per game!

If only Sony and Nintendo got games like this! Everyone should have a little indie game time there is something special about games that are made my 2 or 3 dorks in their bacement.
