And it was also not done by Bethesda.

Oblivion was ported to PS3 by a developement team from Dundee,Scotland called 4J studios, who improved and optimized the game for the PS3 version and arent affiliated with Bethesda apart from that game.
Strangely these are the guys that are porting Minecraft to 360, they do a fantastic job in porting games dunno why Bethesda didnt hire them for their PS3 versions after Oblivion being so good instead of beign stubborn and producing pretty weak ports like Fallout 3.
Sorry for the DP but heres a link to back up my statement bout the porting job being outsourced.

Oblivion PS3 was great, but it was made by a different developer. I think Bethesda patched the 360 version to bring it on par with the PS3 version as well. Why did you even bother making the game for the PS3 Bethesda?

so Sony/PS3 fanboys could take another hit:P
this is really a hard one...this is probably the game of the year and just a great game period. cows got spanked hard this time for their Sony loyalty with this one. this isnt just a multiplat game being better on the 360...again...its a GREAT GOTY contender multiplat game being MUCH better on the 360. OUCH! OWeeOWeeOWeeOw!
i'm guessing there will be a lot of cows trying to bash and discredit the game in the future, or currently. you know, the usual cow tactic when the truth is too much to admit or bear:lol:.

to tell you the truth regardless of the console i would expect at least for the dev to do a good job and not make a complete mess out it, i mean look at 4J's port of oblivion it was great little framerate dipping and looked good and never had a problem, then Bethesda took it in house and make a complete bollocks of it with Fo3 and Skyrim. To be honest it would be more sensible to throw the porting job to another company if they cant do it right.
Sure you will come back with some insane arguement but it clearly shows Bethesda arent good with the PS3 compared to the Oblivion port which was outsourced and strangely im sure ran better on PS3 aswell little ironic isnt it?

No bother its not really touted or that by bethesda or anyone really and only really a bit of knowledge if you've heard them in the news porting a few games.Sure they are a port and ship dev but they do a damn fine job.

oblivion wasn't bad on the 360 though, 4J had an entire year to optimize it for PS3.
PS3 version also came loaded with the patch for shivering isles which gave a lot of people the impression that the PS3 version was superior to the 360 one. It was at the time of release, but Bethesda did patch the 360 and PC again prior to release of the Shivering isles, this patch improved the 360 version visually and in terms of loading times too.
Also when released the 360 version of oblivion had to run from the disc, if you hard drive install it, the times improve as well. You'd have to ask PS3 gamers if they would be happy waiting an extra year for skyrim?
What you've got to take into account oblivion launched around the PS3 launch :P im sure if 4j ran in parallel with bethesda im pretty sure they could do a better job than bethesda spreading themselves a little too thin bettween platforms :P
Lol, didn't Oblivion on the 360 have this same memory leak problem 5 years ago, where the player had to dump the cache every 60 minutes or it would freeze? Does Bethesda know how to program? Or learn from their mistakes? foxhound_foxI'm glad someone posted this I remember getting the same stutter in Oblivion after so many hours of gameplay which was solved by dumping the cache, re-update and away you go. pain in the A** I know but at least it should keep you playing.

oh yea, definitely. Bethesda should be ashamed. don't get me wrong...i'm not cool with or overlooking them basically ripping off PS3 owners with their buggy mess of a port...i'm just laughing at it, lol. definitely it's really a ****'d up situation that should, and deservingly so, put some negative effects against them. its just not right.if anything i feel ps3 owners should get rembursed some money over the mess. but i just don't like cows and their general ways as a group. so laughing at them makes me feel good :) i was giddy, during the psn hack...this is a close second.yes, that makes me very immature and way too much into this...but hey, at least i'm smiling ;)

Lazy programming i guess.
themajormayor
but considering that it's nearly always on the ps3 where multiplats suffers from the worst "teh lazy programming", i guess you'd have to conclude that
1. the ps3 is simply a lesser machine that consumes more manhours and produces fewer results, or
2. it's common practice for the industry to treat ps3 owners like second-class citizens
either way, really sucks for the ones who are always stuck with the inferior multiplats on the ps3 :(
That's funny! Someone is really butthurt that there's no reason to own an xbox anymore now when its only advantage has been taken over by the PS3 PS3 superior multiplats this year: Portal 2 BF3 LA Noire DSF MVC3 SOTD Brink Skyrim (lucky) Tie: Dark Souls Deus EX Dead Space 2 Crysis 2 And many many more But yeah it really sucks getting the superior version of some of the best rated games this year in addition to much more good exclusives :(dude the 360 version of skyrim is the better version mate, what do you think this thread is about?[QUOTE="LegatoSkyheart"]

Consumers got spanked on this one, period. Limiting your scope to just PS3 owners shows how narrow-minded and fanboyish you are. Also: you're just fighting for second place. Everyone who isn't in denial or retarded knows the PC version is the definitive version of Skyrim.

I have download the patch but again Oblivion it looks and play better on the PS3.Bethesda don't know how to port a game or fix and 4J studios it looks that know the way.....lolNo joke, I mean this, I do feel sorry for PS3 only gamers who are big RPG gamers and had been anticipating this tile but now have been a bit disappointed by getting the problem version and now perhaps can't ever be fixed. :?
good luck guys.

I seriously feel bad for people that bought this game for PS3, no gamer deserves this kinda treatment when they spend their hard earned cash on a retail game. I bet you if Bethesda did rewrite the code to cull dead bodies, they would screw up 100 other things in the process. What a bunch of ass clowns in that studio.
I can't believe the game gets away with such high scores when other games get docked for having bugs and glitches. These are game breaking!!Maybe because they didn't have any problem when they play the PS3 version.....like me.Not everyone have this problem you know.I thing it is a HDD problem because i have a new HDD on my PS3 and i don't have any big problem with the game and i am 70+hours in the game. After the pacth on the PS3 the game play very good.
I'm wondering why anyone would buy the game on the PS3...you would think PS3 owners would remember the gamebreaker glitch on the PS3 Oblivion GotY disc (that was never patched), and not buy Skyrim. Why did you even bother making the game for the PS3 Bethesda?

Name some other multiplatform open world games for the PS3 that are even close in terms of complexity and demanding on a system as Skyrim. Even Sony's DCUO has all sorts of memory issues. Fallout 3 which works perfectly fine......[QUOTE="killu-later"]
Bad optimization? surely other open world PS3 games arent that bad

If you're a PS3 owner, stick with exclusives.
Get yourself a 360 (no gold membership, nothing) just to play FO3, F:NV, Obliv, and Skyrim.
Or pop in a $100 video card in your PC and play it that way.
Man, I hate to support such terrible devs to be honest, but I really want this for PC (going to get it soon). This, sueing Mojang over scrolls, crapping on PC, and more. They really just suck :P.

Oblivion is definitely better on PS3 though. Skyrim too if you're lucky. That's because the PS3 version of Oblivion came out like a year later. and even then it lacked a few things and added enough new problems to get .1 less. The Ps3, which was outdated at launch just like the 360 with a gimmick called the Cell which has yet to cover it.who can run an old and outdatedengine better than the xbox360.

Perhaps we have a selective 4x multi-sample anti-aliasing (MSAA) scouting out edges, which in conjunction with the 1280x720 resolution makes it very comparable to the approach taken in Fallout 3. However, other scenes suggest that some form of post processing is the order of the day, as long edges can look very, very clean. Regardless, the overall look on Xbox 360 is very polished indeed, though we note that transparencies (such as waterfalls) can blitz edge-smoothing in some situations." http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-face-off-skyrim doesn't sound like the 360 version is a jaggie mess to me mate
