Overrated game of the year

I'm no Sony fanboy. I don't even own a Ps3 but I have to admit that Gears of War 2 is the most overrated game this gen. It's just 8 hours of mindless shooting with absolutely no depth what so ever. I thought GTA 4 was overrated but Gears 2 is infintely more overrated.

Gears 2 and MGS 4 both.

Have yet to play GTA 4...eagerly awaiting the PC version.

I got more than halfway into the game, saying this game deserves the 10. Beat it. Dropped to a 9. There is nothing to do after the game... Online is boring for me really.

NO, Gears of War 2 received a 9.0 here at GS and its a very justified score. Its one of the most polished games Ive seen, the single player campaign was brilliant, horde is amazing, MP has its problems but overall a 9.0 was a fitting score.

If you think gears of war shooting is mindless, then you probably just dont like shooters.

Um... I would say the first Gears of War had no story depth but to say Gears of War 2 has none is completely wrong. I doubt you have actually played the entire game since you know... it has only been out for 3 and a half days. It is just a little TOO soon to call a game overrated.

I would say MGS4. Easily.

Calling games overrated is pretty overrated. Just because you don't like something that a lot of other people did doesn't make it overrated.

Overrated has pretty much lost it's meaning on the internet because of petty fanboys not knowing the difference between personal dislike and an actual lack of quality..

Um... I would say the first Gears of War had no story depth but to say Gears of War 2 has none is completely wrong. I doubt you have actually played the entire game since you know... it has only been out for 3 and a half days. It is just a little TOO soon to call a game overrated.

I beat the Original on Insane the First night I had it, so I believe Three days is enough to know if the Single player has any depth at all because you can finish it in one sitting...

I would agree with you with the exception of GTA IV, its a great game but its not a 10.0. I havent played MGS4. but Im skeptical of it deserving a 10.0. But then again, I really question games that receive 10.0s in general.

Gears 1 had a short campaign but there was alot of reply value with co-op. And if we're saying that short=no depth then so many games would be overrated, uncharted, dead space would all fall on that list.

So you completed the game twice on the first night?

I own a ps3, but I still think MGS4 was over-rated. If you are a massive fan of the series, perhaps the game is AAAA material, but for everyone else it is AAA.

Gears 2 - oh please. its a graphics update with a mildly interesting "horde" mode. mindless shooting, big butch guys. yawn. that said, 9/10 seems fair.

GTA4 - was very dissapointed with this game. so much potential ruined by a rubbish engine.

Despite some mixed reviews, I have really been enjoying Far Cry 2. Single player is great and i'm really loving the multiplayer. Just waiting for resistance 2 tho

I beat it too, but 3 days isn't enough time to fully know the ins and outs of a game to call it overrated, is what I ment.And my point still stands about the story in Gears of War 2, to say it doesn't have any depth is wrong.

Its a tie between MGS4 and GTA4

Idk how craptacular MP and terrible story lines (MGS4) equate to a 10.

Yeh, definitely not argueing that. I just wish people can take up that view for other games like Gears 2 and Resistance 2. I mean both games are awesome and probably as polished and content filled as they could get. And each game received respectable and justified scores: 9.0. And yet there are tons of people on both sides calling them flops and overrated. Cant avoid blatant shameless bias in life I guess.

Well there is also a difference between liking a game or not and calling it overrated like someone said earlier. If you don't like that game then it doesn't mean it is overrated.

GTA IV * not enough replayability to warrant a 10. Once you're done with the main quest that's it :(*

and Brawl *the online issues alone should've kept this game from getting a 9.5*

MGS4 is simply the most the overated game in history because its not even a game and its not funny.

Serioulsy ppl, This game had way more Cutscenes than game play. ANd i will glady go into detail if u want.

Its quick to note that MGS1 got me into 1 player adventure games.

• Media - GTA IV , great game ..... but they fell into the hype
• Gamespot - GTA IV , great game ..... but they fell into the hype

I think the GTA fans and other gamers are more in tune than the media on this one.
