only problem with the wii is the online is embarassing and barely on par with the ps2 online. Microsoft1234

Mario Kart, Monster Hunter Tri, Medal of Honor 2 etc. all disagree with you.
And there are some great third party offerings on the Wii, I refer you to the Wii board to check the stickied threads.

I completely agree with alot of what tc put in his OP.
The wii seems really devoid of a backbone, just the same rinse and repeat - its like if bungie made a console and released nothing but halo every year
And I agree, the mods really need to chill out. I was once suspended for AGREEING with what another poster said

Ive gotten nothing but warnings and suspension ever since I came back here, it was alot different in the early 2000's (a hundred times more enjoyable). I always say just how I feel, but that seems to be against the rules. The mod says that hundreds of people report eachother every day even though most parents teach there kids its horrible to be a snitch. Its so hyper sensitive now, feels like im in the disney land of video game discussion, its too the point that im afraid to disagree with anyone even slighty or be banned again. Oh and on the miyamoto subject, what has he done since the 90's thats been even remotely interesting? Nothing IMO

To even think Wii's online is comparable to XBL and PSN is a joke in itself. Friend codes pretty much confirm this. Online gaming isn't Nintendo's strong point considering the Wii's online is about comparable to Dreamcast's and PS2's online.
The OP is somewhat right. I would replace Miyamoto with Nintendo though. No one that is a core gamer buys a Wii for third-party games, yeah you might buy a couple but the real reason you buy a Wii is for Nintendo games. Plain and simple.

Pretty sure the PS2 did not have a good PSN in its day.Nothing? Huh? Miyamoto did Wii Fit and Wii Music. Now that might not appeal to you personally as a gamer, but you gotta admit that those games were pretty out there in concept. If anyone had told you that Miyamoto was making a fitness game before the demos hit, you would've said that source was downright crazy. As a gamer, both games appeal to parts of me that aren't traditionally included in gaming, so I can understand why some players might not find them good to use, but they are, nonetheless, interesting, if only from a theoretical standpoint.roxlimn
Wii fit, Wii sports, and Wii music are all banes to gaming, and there not new or original, they had games on the NES with with lots of generic sporting events all in one package, or generic mtv style music "games" from the ps1 era. Theres no cutting edge graphics, and that means in a technical way, or just an artistic way, theres no in depth controls that are easy to start but amazingly difficult to master, and allow for a highly skilled player to "go pro" at the game, or be so good at them that it is actually enjoyable to watch someone play at that level. There is no great story, there is no great music, there are no great characters, there are no online communities for them seeing as how they would die quickly because there so simple, and if they do have them (im not even interested enough to look) they have to be sadly bland. There is hardly an ounce of challenge to any of those games, and any game that is easy enough for grandma to play should be VERY boring to any gamer. I could go on and on and on, the "Wii" software is garbage.
[QUOTE="Ratchet_Fan8"]i agree with this but nintendo are asses, they dont drop their price for games and just keep remaking games. You cant change them its either 1.Rehash 2.Gimick 3.WII __________roxlimnI find that an interesting POV from someone who uses the handle of Ratchet_Fan8. Is not Insomniac much the same with the R&C series. Having just played several of the R&C games in series, I can tell you that they play nearly exactly alike, with minor changes and a different (usually bad) hacking minigame for each installation. I like R&C just fine. I did play several back to back. However, to call NSMBWii a rehash and single out Nintendo for this seems oddly selective.
Insomniac hasnt been doing it since the 1980's.....
First of all, the MGS franchise has a horrible story. Seriously, MGS3 was enjoyable but good god the rest are trash.
As for non-nintendo Wii games....i wont make a list, thats useless.
Inform yourself and you'l end up seeing many good third party games coming out like TVC, Rune Factory Frontier, MH3, RS2 or one of the best narrative driven games around: SILENT HILL Shattered Memories.
Oh and nintendo/Miyamoto DID try something new. You and a few others might not like what they did, but its the most successful line of games out there right now and its a new IP.
Quite a few internet tough guys love to use those games to seperate themselves from people who enjoy them but at the end of the day no one gives a crap about what makes insecure and juvenile brats feel like badasses when they're playing videogames. The rest of the world seems to enjoy them and those who dont can find plenty of other options on the same system...if they actually bother researching!!
Red Steel 2 sucks. But there are good third party games on the wii. De Blob is fun, so is Little King Story(althoug who ever came up with the control scheme idea for this game is an idiot), Tatsanoko vs Capcom is fun, Boom Blox, and some other noteable non first party games that deserve some mentioning. Like Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, it's just incredibly short. Oh and Monster Hunter Tri seems like it's very good.
Nintendo knows how to reinvent it's franchises though. Other M is proof of that, and SUper Mario Galaxy is a breath of fresh air as Mario games are concerned. I do agree that NSMB wii was too rehash territory. Felt like it tried to hard to mimmick alot of the level design from Mario Bros. 3. If they wanted to mimmick some 2-D glory mimmick the best mario platformers. Yoshi's Island and SUper Mario World.
Oh and I AGREE COMPLETELY. Nintendo you have a butt load of talent in those many buildings of yours. You have a ton of resources. I WANT SOME NEW IDEAS FROM YOU :|. Going back to your old franchises that we haven't had in awhile is not a new idea. So No I do not count Punchout as you trying something else. especially considering how much Punchout Wii sucked.
That said some of your points are a bit of a hyperbole. Personally I don't think the Wii is as good as a PS3 or a Wii, but there is enough games there you just need to research. Wether you like them up is obviously optional. Lord knows the library is very hit or miss when it comes to my tastes, but then again so is most of the gen. Great games all around sure, but theres some "great games" that just never feel all that great to me. Shame.
Objection. 1 had a fine story. It like 3 was atleast more tightly paced and focused. Was the bad writing, horrible story telling method(cutscens in a videogame), and some melodrama all there? Ofcourse it's MGS but that's sort of the charm of the series. It's a franchise that while totally filled to the brimm with some serious ambition(MGS 4 is one of those few games that actually has a story with a message to tell, and that is worthy of some admiration to be quite honest) it also happens to have some of the most rebellious but dumb aspects to go with it. Like meryl and johnny for instance :| But hey I think that's part of the love for MGS. It's the franchise that is rebellious against the rest of the games on the market, the elitists, and everyone else and does what it does. Plus the overall games were never bad. On the contrary they are damn good.First of all, the MGS franchise has a horrible story. Seriously, MGS3 was enjoyable but good god the rest are trash.

No it does not. There are plenty of great titles on the Wii to choose from. I've personally found a nice selection of them and there's still plenty more that I have yet to play.
Why does everyone complain that Nintendo is wearing out their same old IP's, but they allow every other company to do the exact same thing?Dr_CorndogBecause its the Wii and its casual crap/novelty blah blah. The same old, pathetic excuses regarding the Wii.

I see the appeal, but these games still play out like a poorly written Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode to me.
The narrative is convoluted, unfocused and Kojima just loves himself a bit too much. But again, like Suda's games, they either click with you or they dont.
As for MGS4, i really dont have alot of nice things to say about it so i'l just ignore that one :P
Snake Eater was good though.
if it ain't broke don't fix it [QUOTE="Microsoft1234"][QUOTE="shadow_hosi"]i would gladly play the same old zelda and mario games forever than have to sit through another lair or hazeshadow_hosi@ your sig, i agree 100% about the rules here and the strangle hold its gotten ridiculous (kids refer to this site as moderation spot) but i agree about the mario and zelda thing well, over the last 10 days i was suspended for a 3 day, the next day i got like 5 moderations incuding one of them being a 7-day suspention, followed by a final warning, and several days later got 2 more moderations..... i just think things like that really ruin the fun of this site, you cant say ANYTHING except 'yes *explanation*' and 'no *explination*' without getting modded for anyone that wants to report you i would eventually get bored of playing the same games over and over. 3d marios can stay, but if there are any more 2d marios, it needs to be just one and with a level editor and online sharing so that it never gets old.but ninteno really does need to create a few good franchises each gen. OFFTOPIC: its like 1st grade in here. "ooo you said the word "poo!" im gonna go tell on you!!!. then you have to go sit in a corner for awhile, listen mods, its a world full of bad people and everybody swears. get off of your high horses and get over it. especially since most of the games we discuss are rated M for mature meaning that they contain bad words and anyone who is offended by them, should not play them or be talking about them.

Hey, if you like MGS, good for you. I dont see any ambition at all, but i'm happy you do.
I know I am certainly glad I own one now. It is a great little console and offers a refreshing change of pace from the HD blockbusters. I used to be one that sort of mocked games like Wii Sports, but you know what? It is simply fun to play. It is nice to take a break from playing epic story after epic story and just have some simple, quick fun here and there. Games like this are immensely re-playable as well.
Is there not room enough for games like Wii Sports to go along with the Mass Effects and God of Wars of the gaming world? I will always love my serious, epic HD blockbusters, but sometimes it is just nice to have some good old fashion fun with a game like Wii Sports. Is it not good to have a variety? I can't answer that for everyone, but I know it certainly is for me.

only problem with the wii is the online is embarrassing and barely on par with the ps2 online. Microsoft1234You get to play with other people online, that's pretty fun if you ask me. It doesn't need the extra bells and whistles, even though it would be nice.
chicken I could care less about having a new hero, villian blah blah. All that matters to me is gameplay. and tbh, in such a M saturated industry, playing a mario game every now n then does seem fresh and new. Silenthps
This is what I think. Sony and Microsoft as well as almost every third party developer are making games that ground themselves in reality and violence whileNintendo offers the Pixar type entertainment (it's good for all ages). Nintendo's been doing the same thing since the NES, but now a days that's different from everything else the same way that movies tend to be less and less kid friendly so its nice to sit back and watch a quality Pixar film every once in a while and you know what? more often than not those Pixar films are ten times better than anything else out there.
The last amazing IP Nintendo created was Pikmin by Miyamoto and holly molly was that game completely original and brilliant! If Miyamoto or Nintendo has another IP as great and original as Pikmin we'll all be in for a real treat

Bold Text: Halo Reach isn't new. There were games like it on the PC years ago.
RedText: What you're saying is... is that Wii Sports, a tech demo that came with the Wii, should have cutting edge graphics to be good. Although it's not really a game
Blue Text: So a game like Wii Fit should have a story line & characters. What would the story be about...a group of rag-tag Miis defeating the evil BMI Monster and restoring peace to Fit Land. You do understand that this is Wii Fit. Wii Fit!!! Not Heavy Rain. Not Metroid. Not Resident Evil. Wii Fit, a fitness simulator for families.
Bold, Itallicized Text: I will just state this again. You are talking about the Wii Series. Why the frak would a series that was intended for a novice, non-experienced audience be challanging?! Where is the logic in all of this? You think that most ofyour precious "hardcore" games are challanging. IMO, games like Halo and Call of Duty require almost little or no skill to play. Instead of finding health packs around the level we have regenerating health. Lets use Brain Age for an example. Brain Age is a "casual" game intended for a "casual" audience although the games actually require some sort of skill and quick thinking in order for you to get an acceptable score. Wouldn't a game like Brain Age be considered "hardcore"? Another example, Yoshi's Island. Yoshi's Island could be considered a "casual" game due it's cartoonish appeaarance and the fact that it's a Mario game. However, collecting all the Red Coins, Flowers and maintaining all yourstars to get 100 full pts. isn't easy. A game like Demon Souls and Contrais hardcore because of its difficulty. A game like Mass Effect (NOT the dumbed-down sequel, the first one) is "hardcore" because of the Item Storage System. A game like "The Sims" is "hardcore" because of the amount of effort it takes to make each and everyone of your Sims happy.
Please, before you post something that is directed to attack someone/something do some research on it first.
Im playing the Wii more than the PS2 right now. Its my most played console. BTW I have 12 first party games and 22 third party games for Wii so that Miyamoto comment TC said is just wrong, Wii is NOT the Gamecube. And its better than Sony and MS throwing grim FPS/TPS games in my face all the time.
