[QUOTE="Juggernaut140"]Well it's official then. OXM sucks. I'm sick of them overrating games and then holding them as the standard of what other games should be like, Im sick of them shaving off points for games not having a "save anywhere" feature, I'm sick of their fanboy undertones, and I'm sick of getting next to nothing for the $10 that I pay.

I'm willing to bet Fallout 3 will be critically successful with across the boards AAA.. But suck as a game, with immense flaws and dumbed down functions in game design and balance, but none of the critics will mention it.. Just like they didn't mention a single of Oblivion's glaring flaws in their reviews.
I was talking about the Dead Space score but you're probably right :P
Oblivion got next to perfect scores and look how that turned out, Fallout 3 could get 10 across the board and I would still be critical of their decisions in the game.
God know what they arn't telling us, Oblivion had plenty of flaws that were not revealed in the reviews.

To you maybe, it depends on if you were their target audience to begin with.

That's why I'm interested. Oblivion rocked!
Same here :D
if they were aiming towards casuals they would of developed the game for the wii.

Do I really need to go into depth here? Oblivon stinked as a role playing game. They practically catered it to the xbox 360 achievement crowed, if there was an aspect that didn't appeal to them it got half baked or cut.
Everything was catered to people who wanted everything and the kitchen sink, you could access everything with minimal downsides and effort regardless of your choices. The guilds didn't even have capability requirements for advancement like Morrowind did, you could become arch mage without any skill in magic at any level.
That clear enough?
[QUOTE="SolidTy"]Oblivion with Guns.
Should have done better, methinks.Saturos3091
mixed reviews of awesomeness. all that i've read apart from blog reviews (which don't count imo) have been mixed in the category of great to excellent (8-10). to me that's a buy.
And it's good that it isn't, because Fallout 2 is inferior to the first one. Well, in my opinion anyways.
Salt_The_Fries
agree 100%, and I just wrapped up replaying both with the new high resolution patch. Fallout 1 was far more cohesive and had the better plot by far - Fallout 2 you could do more, but so much more that is lost it's cohesiveness and was a bit of a mess imo. they should have spent more time fleshing out 2 and less time adding in the stupid toilet humour and lame jokes i think.
that's my opinion anyways.
Awesome, now that LittleBigPlanet has been delayed, I get to pick up two games in the same week, I don't think I'll know what to do with them. :(lantus
What game is your sig from?
[QUOTE="tmntPunchout"]Fallout 3 did seem like Oblivion with guns and a turn based system. Is that what it basically is?sSubZerOo
From that one French reviewer said, it seems to be exactly that.. Every piece he said sounded JUST like Oblivion.. I swear Beth is the example of the industry dumbing down for the masses.. It has gutted everything that makes a rpg and turned it into a psudeo action game with pretend/light rpg elements.. And it poses as a full rpg game. I expect no less or more from Fallout3.
the definition of a role playing game is you are playing the role of a character in a story or fully realized world that you have the freedom to make decisions about. Technically, JRPGs are not even RPGs because of how linear they are. Funny how game genres get skewed like this by people.

What meaningful decisions did you have in Oblivion? You could do everything with no consequences.. All quests had only one real solution, character development was non existent.. You were always the thief, warrior, mage all in one.. They could have just gave you visual options then dropped you in the world and it would have been the exact same game..It had no real story, no real characters, no real dialogue choices.. Randomized enviroments with 1% of it being only hand placed things, leveled enviroment.. Not even the ACTION was very fun compared to other games.. And I fail to see why you even brought up JRPG's.. I wasn't talking about those, though I am not a major fan of it.. Jrpgs at least have a story to follow and stratigic combat most times.. Oblivion had niether.. It was a paradoxical sandbox of generic suckage.. And that guy was far too specific in his blog to really give any kind of bias when it seems exactly paralell to Oblivion.. Its even more hilarious that not a single major reviewer EVER talked about ANY of its glaring flaws. Its a dumed down game.. Its one of the few actual REAL dumbed down games of generation, that is cattered to casuals.. Made easy with no real consquences so idiots don't feel they are pressured into making a game defining decision. Fallout 3 we have seen looks to be EXACTLy that.. Whats worse is the video shows like its trying to be a dumbed down mass effect shooting system.
Saw it, it will probably be GOTY for sure. Definitely actually.Squall18Gears 2,GTA,MGS4 all say hi to Squall18,please stop looking into the Future

I don't care WHAT they give it. They also gave Dead Space a 6.5 and was reivewed by some woman. Stupid Magazine, worthless Reviews.Kratos_OMEGAFrom my time playing Dead Space I can certainly tell you it ain't no 9.0. I've been playing on hard my first time through and it is incredibly easy and simply isn't scary. Even the extremely cheap boo momments when the sound cuts off and something jumps you from above all scripted like.

dude only some one completely ignorant of gaming would give dead space such a low grade. graphics, gameplay, hud design, immersion, story, cinematics, sound, compelling game universe....everything about dead space is AAA.

So? a 6.5 is a joke of a score for such a quality game. I think an 8 would still be respectable. I think it fully deserves a 9, but my opinion aside that was one of the worst reviews ever. Even worse than IGN's god hand review.

It is way too easy. I'm playing it for the first time on hard, and I'm not having any problems dispatching the enemies. Not to mention the weapon balance is incredibly fubar. The first weapon you get is practically all you need. Nothing in the game has scared me at all thus far, and the story isn't anywhere near as deep as Silent Hill's established cannon. I never said it was a 6.5, but it definitely is not a 9.0.

OK EA made the HUD integrated into the actual gameplay on every level to add to immersion. Sound is fantastic and certainly contributes to that as well. The graphics are among the best of the generation also adding to immersion.
Just because you don't find it dificult or scary is not a meaningful observation to say about the game. In fact that really just says more about you. Dial up the difficulty. You don't find this scary and yet a big stupid dude with a pyramid for a head is? ok whatever.

That's all you can come up with? Sad...FYI Freespace is actually widely regarded as a classic so I don't know what point you're trying to make.

The graphics are among the best of the generation also adding to immersion. L1qu1dSwordThe HUD, I will admit, is nice, but its not like it adds a great deal of immersion. The ambient video logs and audio tapes are interesting and add a degree of surealism, but it definitely isn't atmospheric. The sound design jumps around alot as well. At times it will even cut off completely and you're just sitting there wondering why theres no music.
It is a SURVIVAL HORROR GAME, and if you would take the time to read my posts you would realize that "I am playing the game on HARD DIFFICULTY my first time through". I can't dial the difficulty up anymore. I've always been a big proponent of the idea that when you start relying on cheap B-movie horror scare tactics and giving your character guns and combat scenarios that it detracts from the horror, and it does. In Silent Hill its all about Fight or Flight. In Dead Space it is fight...fight some more...fight some more...and fight until the door goes off standby. These canned fights are so annoyingly disjointed and break up the pacing of the game that it reemoves a lot of the horror elements in the game. In SIlent Hill, fleeing was what added so much atmosphere to the game. And Pyramid head is never supposed to be scary. He is the embodiement of your own sins and your shepard in the darkness.Just because you don't find it dificult or scary is not a meaningful observation to say about the game. In fact that really just says more about you. Dial up the difficulty. You don't find this scary and yet a big stupid dude with a pyramid for a head is? ok whatever.

My point is that if you regard that cheesy afterthought of my time as a PC gamer to actually be anywhere near the greatest of all time or even "great" then i dont even have to argue with you at all. your sig really debunks anything you have to say.
