Smoother how?

taterfrickintot

Allright you caught me. I've never done any serious work on a MAC (net browsing). I just thought it was the general consensus, or maybe it's just an old argument that MAC users fall back on.

Any experienced MAC and WIN user that can shed some light on the matter?

I have been taking College level MultiMedia Classes that maily revolve around video editing. our primary computers are brand new iMacs, and we have around 18 in our classroom. i sm in the minority that prefers PC, mainly because amost everyone in my media class is like super rich, and have their parents buy them stuff. almost none of them really have any experience or knoledge about hardware.

Although the OSx snow leopard is a very good OS, windows 7 is just as good IMO. it really just depends on user preference. our primary video editing software for mac is final cut pro, and that software is superior to any PC video editor IMO, but i think that is just because i am more experienced with it than any PC video editor. i am growing fond of sony vegas though. we also use a lot of photoshop, and photoshop between PC and mac is pretty much identical.

Mac users pretty much fall back on the "mas are smoother for multimedia editing" because mac has that reputation and most Mac and PC fanboys really dont have much experience in this feild.

also sinse this is a gaming forum, windows is obviously a better choice for gaming. and IMO, the PC is better for the money hardware-wise. macs apple isnt the m,ost reliable computer maufacturer according to consumer reports so don't buy into that. the only reason to buy a mac is for its wide array of mac exclusive multimedia editors and the OS itself. other than that, PC is the safer choice among the casuals. or gamers. IMO.

Pixar uses Macs for a reason. They are the easiest for editing and production. I have both a Mac laptop and a gaming PC so I can directly compare the two. Gaming and pretty much anything else is better on Windows.

not really. both OS's are incredibly easy to use, its the software that makes the mac superior in this field, not the mac OSX itself.

Beats me why people here hate Macs (not just MacBooks) in general.

edidili

You wonder why Mac is hated in a gaming forum?

I can understand the hate if people had a Mac and it ate their homework, thesis, or something. For the vast majority of people here, I doubt anyone held a gun to their head and forced them to buy/use a Mac for anything, much less gaming. I have my own gripes with Macs. But, hate? Not even close even when it stinks for games. I don't have any hate for it. It's merely a non-factor when it comes to my gaming needs.

I do know a number of Mac users and they're all strongly console users as well, even the XBox 360.

Windows based computers. OSX systems offer a extremely small percentage of games available on the platform, and the hardware difference (and price) is immense.

A PC would be much cheaper and more powerful than a Mac.

I refuse to buy things from Apple as well.

For video editing, I use Cyberlink Power Director 9 X64 edition and GpGPU acceleration.

WINDOW-based computers are now equipped with the new Intel CPU. Mac is still in the waiting list. Time exclusive? Why not.

Your better off burning your money or spending it on something more useless, then buying a mac for gaming. I don't see pc ever stop being the gaming platform untile mac goes mainstream, which i don't think will happen anytime.

Macs are good for many things but gaming they are subpar at.

They use MACs since PIXAR is pretty much owned by Steve Jobs. They still use massive linux/unix farms for rendering.
