Pachter: GTA 4 DLC hasn't sold as hoped.

I want to ask an off topic question about that: Do Gold subscribers get access to better servers? I downloaded The Lost and Damned on my brother's 360 (he doesn't have internet access) and it took nearly 4 hours. I know it's a huge file, but when I download demos on my Gold account, they don't seem to take very long at all, even the bigger ones.

On topic: I'm sure it sold plenty, and as for Pachter... he's usually more wrong than he is right. There could be other reasons they haven't released sales figures.

I have Gold and L&D took me 35 mins. There are many things that factor into it, though. I'm pretty sure we all get the same servers.

The year is still going, but guess how many 360s and PS3s were sold in 2008: over 10 million each. Yup, despite PS3 costing twice at much, it sold about the same amount of consoles in 2008 as the 360.

It costs $20. Not too many people want to spend another $20 when they already spent $60.

Yeah, I've got Gold myself, but I haven't downloaded it yet to compare. It was downloaded at peak time, though, so I guess that didn't help. Just seemed strange that it was just that one file on his silver account, when I haven't had anything like that on a Gold account.

That's actually a really good point, haven't even thought of that. Maybe if they released it on both consoles it would have sold more.

I don't even own a single GTA game, nor have I ever. What makes you think I want to play it?

MS thought a GTA4 DLC would've changed the way people would look at the subject, guess they thought wrong.

it's like microsofts plan of just releasing dlc and add ons instead of original games is backfiring on them.

they need to leave that idea and run to find exclusives games before it's too late.

If you mean advertisement in general, I know those first two games were heavily advertised online. I don't know about Resistance 2 since I didn't own any current gen console at the time. As for TV advertising, TV advertising is dying out thanks to the internet and Tivo. It's generally a waste to advertise on TV now unless you're advertising during the super bowl or something similar.

LOL at a PS3 fanboy bringing up sales, REALLY not a good idea. Pretty much everything on the Xbox outsells anything PS3 related.

"If that content was sold at retail, it would be one of the best sellers across all platforms. It would have outsold Killzone 2".

L&D sold superbly and is one of the best pieces of DLC ever released for one of the best games this generation. Not to mention the best bang for buck in terms of hours of gameplay.

Yea, Pachter say alot of things. And the fanboy groups only use him when he is talking about good things about their system or bad things about the rival one. But bash him when he is talking about their rival system in a good light. I think we should not listen to him.

No offense but how do we take this as fact? I mean this is his assumption, I don't think we can jump the gun and say the game didn't do what they expected. For one we don't even know what they expected? Did they expect 3 million in DLC sales? did they expect 2 Million? did they expect 4-5 million? Just saying we can all assume many things. the reason is simple, it's not because the game sold well that everyone who brought the game enjoy it, thank god i didn't buy the game
