Paying $50 for 4 player laggy online

I'm talking about Gears of War. You pay money just so you can play a 4 player online game, that doesn't have dedicated servers, so the host server has the advantage if you lag. Many Gears players already complained about this alot.

When you can have 32 player dedicated online servers with War Hawk, and other PS3 games for free?

I can't believe cows are still going on with the RFoM vs GeOW debate. Xbox360 owners won that debate a long time ago.

I really don't know how can you guys call that ownage, what do you have from this stupid ratings if you pay for xbox live and then you get laggy crap but PS3 has free online and dedicated servers with no lag.

No Xbox live it self is great, but 1 year gold member is not worth the 60EUR in Europe, thats way too much for the laggy crap.

unfortunately, not excited at all about warhawk or lair. especially not with halo 3 around the corner. warhawk should be 20 bucks and id get it in a second. it just looks like a weird BF2 clone.

Gears is only 8 players online because the maps are too small to be even imaginable for more players. If the maps were as huge as Resistance then you'd see more players. GoldenGlove

Well, there IS a reason why the maps are small. The game can only handle 4on4 or else the game chugs badly. Prior to the last patch, when playing Annex, the game would chug when there were a lot of players in the same area (kind of the whole point of Annex) and there were any amount of body parts laying on the ground. Epic fixed this by making the parts disappear faster than they do in Execution, but it showed how Gears could NOT handle more than 8 people online at one time.

The maps are small because the game can only handle a small number of players - make sense? Gears PC will probably see game modes that allow for more than 8 players at a time - still tbd.

I know that's why. I didn't want Xbots to get mad if I pointed that out. PS3's exclusive titles will always have bigger maps then the 360. Gears is a masterpiece on a lot of levels, but when you sit there and analyze the game you see that they really could of done more.

And Gears does lag. And the host advantage on the game is horrible. I hate when people say it's minimal when that one more shotgun shell that the host takes while downing you AFTER you shot him numerous times is VERY noticeable. The game doesn't have HUGE lag issues but it does have a lot of minor lag problems that add up to be very annoying at times. I hate how you get meleed by the sniper then DIVE away from the attack again and STILL get hit by a MELEE from pleny feet away. That's LAG.

i played the beta and it was amazing. the gameplay is fantastic. its only $60 with a bluetooth headset and $40 if you download it. and you can share the download with friends and split the cost. 40 divided by 4 = $10.

I agree that Epic screwed the pooch when they decided to go with Host side hit detection for the game- thus, the lag you talk about. The hit detection in the game is pathetic, too. Shoot a guy point-blank in the back with a shotgun only to have him turn around and 1-shot you down. The "frustration moments" are plentiful when playing Gears. It may be that these are what bring people back - to try to do better the next time.

edit - I just went back and re-read your statement. Why do you say that PS3 exclusive titles will ALWAYS have bigger maps than the 360??? What the heck do you mean by that? That is just a fanboy comment, imo.

Truth hurts too badly! PSN = free lag free dedicated servers. 360 = $50/yr without dedicated servers and lag.

When I play R6 Vegas and go into a game it shows me as "connecting" so they don't start the game before I get in.

Is this the case on the 360 version with xlive?

Just because you're not having fun on your "superior" online service and your "superior" console playing your "superior" games doesn't mean I can't have more fun then you playing "inferior" games on an "inferior" online service. The fact that you feel the need to bash my console choice proves that you're obviously having regrets in your choice and feel that bashing my choice will help you feel better about your poor ones.
