PC at E3!?

"There's never been a better time to play games on PC. Gaming-capable hardware is inexpensive, digital distribution has given us unprecedented access to a huge range of games, and publishers have finally recognized that reports of its demise as a viable platform were ludicrously exaggerated. And soon the PC will have its own celebratory event during E3 week, with the first-ever PC Gaming Show, presented by AMD and put together by, well, us.

"The PC Gaming Show embodies the spirit of innovation, openness and community that's part of our DNA—delivered by gamers, for gamers," AMD Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Computing and Graphics Matt Skynner said. "The time is right for a PC-focused event in the week of E3 and we're honored to be part of bringing the industry together."

Hosted by Sean "Day[9]" Plott, the PC Gaming Show at E3 will feature appearances by Dean Hall of DayZ fame, Cliff Bleszinski of Boss Key Productions, and developers from studios including Blizzard, Bohemia Interactive, Cloud Imperium Games, Tripwire Interactive, Square Enix, Obsidian, Paradox, Devolver Digital and the Humble Bundlers, with more to be announced.

"We’re living in a golden age of PC gaming, but unlike other platforms the PC has no format holder, no marketing department, and—until now—no event during E3 week purely devoted to it," added Tim Clark, global editor-in-chief at PC Gamer. "We think a show like this, which brings together people from every corner of PC gaming to celebrate the exciting things happening, is long overdue. We hope you’ll join us, in person or on stream, to be part of it."

More than likely. :P As the console guys show off PC footage most of the time too everyone will say it looks the same as PS4/XB1 as well.

They really need to be showing more of Star Citizen and Unreal Tournament at this.

PC domination is far too much

Sounds good. Hopefully, it won't be all about praising indies and talking about distribution platforms or multiplats better on PC. Give us something epic. Give us gameplay of Warhammer Total War, Give us gameplay footage of Syberia 3, Reveal trailer for Serious Sam 4, opening Cinematic for Legacy of the Void and so on. Please no talks about Mobas and E-sports.

PC's always been at E3.

It's nice idea. But realistically most pc centric companies save their reveals and new demos for gamescom. Putting them on E3 is kind of a waste.

It took time but now for first time...2015 PC gaming are at E3, nice going to be great E3 to watch :D

I'm pretty sure it's "PC" that has been running all of those console demos during the conferences and floor demos.

Well, seems to me the MS show will be filled with Windows 10 and their PC plans so there's that as well.

Smart marketing idea by AMD. Not much point though as there aren't really any interesting PC-exclusives and the PC-version of multiplats are shown at the other conferences anyway

Nvidia needs to be doing a conference in the same vein as Microsoft and Sony. They need to simply show the benefits of the visuals. PC games are shown all the time, Nvidia talks product, but the ease of use has reached a point where they need to speak more competitively.

This is really cool and they should truly be commended for this. Hopefully, the show will be good so people want more :)

Maybe they will announce more steam machines too. i really want one ( i love the console size of it) but not at those ridicules prices for mediocre specs.

Cool I guess. Hopefully it's a bigger stage for independent and kickstarter projects since that's been the real back bone of PC gaming the last few years.

@bulby_g: unreal and star citizen are all I ever hear about. How about promoting some of the great kickstarter rpgs like pillars of eternity and tides of numenera?

Or maybe a real publisher should I don't know, make an exclusively built pc rpg juggernaut like used to happen monthly before x360 came out.

You guys claim pc is big, but all I see is free to play multiplayer only games and small indie projects and 100s of minecraft clones that are never finished.

For single player pc has the paradox (such a great publisher) for grand strategy and kickstarters projects, but no real publisher support for indivual prjects.

Remember quake, doom galf-life, far cry, vampire masquarde, fallout , nolf, fear, theif, system shock, dues ex ,Ultima, might and magic , gothic, elder scrolls, myst, crysis, civilization , etc... All started on pc as exclusive games...

Now all we get for publisher made exclusives is free 2 play moba and multiplayer games that support micro transactions...All that valve does anymore.

I would love to see a new baldurs gate (or any single player dnd game), a half-life 3, a new genre anything other than Dota clone number 12.

cus those games are the closest thing they have to triple A exclusives. I mean, do you realize that herms make rigs of hundreds maybe thousands of dollars only to play console ports and hipster indie games at 4k? lol

PC is always at E3. Though it is nice to hear that PC will not be completely hidden in cupboards pretending to be a games console and will have its own place for once.

MS will be talking about Windows 10 gaming, probably as well as DX12 and PC - Xbox One multiplatform development and how it should bring both performance advantages to both platforms and/or easing development between both platforms.

Ultimately, this will currupt pc gaming, making it even worse.

hopefully they will be prepared for it. They could afford to have delays/ ingame issues at their own events..but not at E3 where most of the industry will be watching you.

I like that there is a PC show, but I fear this will just be a way for AMD to pimp their new hardware. A desperate attempt to stay relevant in the PC space.

As stated by others, many of the best games shown at E3 are usually displayed via the PC version. (No one wants to see 30fps on low)

• AAA exclusives? PC gets maybe more than any one console (All those blizzard,ncsoft,sega,2k games and expansions alone).
• Ports? Getting the better version of nearly all of the games on your system is nothing to brush off. Basically better at all of gaming.
• Hipster Indys & Remasters? You mean the games that are currently padding XBONE/PS4 Library's at Metacritic more-so than PC?

The original Terminator was a gritty R rated movie. Terminator Genisys is now a PG, overwrought CGI, digitally clean film with a Sarah Conner who looks like 17 year of fashion model.

honestly..i dont know anyone in my real life that plays games on pc except puzzle games,cards,etc..PC is just a niche platform like everything NIN has put out for the last 20 years..People might play it..might be popular..might rake in more $$$$ then all of the others combined..BUT..nobody I know plays it..

Yes, but they never really had their own stage show. They just have developers showing off their games at their booths. This should be interesting though.

me neither. Not even when I was doing my internship at a MS Innovation Center I met a single person that played games on PC. Even my boss at the time, he built a rig for gaming but was always playing Call of Duty on PS3.

"Things you may have noticed" is not really the best objective measurement when it really comes to anything, especially when you are biased considering the both of your post histories. I doubt these situations even occurred tbh.

Not that it matters, there are SINGLE PC games that have almost as many as concurrent users as xbl/psn total. Same goes for sales. PC objectively has more players.

I love Terminator lol. I see exactly what you mean. PC gaming had a class quality before every teenage prick was screaming the words ''MASTERRACE!!'' all day on every gaming related video. Like an overcrowded holiday resort you first discovered years before it was popular. Yeah human beings ruin everything when there's enough of them :/

And neither of these are as bad as what happened to console gamers/gaming.

No Star Citizen event will ever be considered "complete" without disconnections, absence of sound, running around on stage figuring out what's wrong, game crashing and other technical problems. Lol. But at the end of the day, it's still fun to watch something new!

I kinda agree with you but still won't go that far to say that everything will become worse ATM. On one hand you complain about sales on PC which are indirectly affected by number of users and marketing. On other hand you are think becoming mainstream is bad.

Actually you are a prime example of what I was reffering to. Console gamers were fanboys since gen 4 with the genesis and snes. Blast Processing? That was the DX12 and cloudof it's time. Nothing happened to console gamers. They've always been petty fanboys. PC gamers were mostly console gamers too over the last 2 decades. They felt no need to be fanboys as PC gaming was just a release and something different. Now it's all about 'lol consoles' and 'superior this and superior that'.

Not saying PC gamers don't have the right to have some fun on the internet, just saying it has really changed over the years. In many ways it's even more childish than console gamer shit.
