720p upscaled at 1080p is good enough for me, i can understand if you are running it at 2500, but or else there isnt a big difference. Low res what, almost everything is low res in bc2, i know they are there, but i can only notice them if i pay attention to them, needless t osay, those blocky shadows in the rock pile 100 m away from me isnt going to grab my attention when tanks are shooting me in the ass.' My friends play the 360 version thats good enough to be the superior version for me. ;) Sandvichman
There's a big difference between running it at 1080p native and 1080p upscaled bro. Hell even non-gamers could spot that difference. Everything is low res you say? Yeah, on the console version. On my PC everything is nice and high res thanks to the improved textures. Oh, and poor shadows 100m away?
Riiiiight. That's not even an online shot. :P
Hence why I own the PS3 version. Still, when I'm not playing with my friends, it's straight PC for me - that version is sooo much better, and I want to get the most out of Bad Company 2 since it's such an awesome game. :)

I just dont see the giant difference, i know there is one, but it does zero to me when it games to my overall enjoyment of the game, I dont stare at shadows, simple as that, I still enjoy my console version, more then the pc version, eye candy or not.

Fair enough. I myself prefer the 32 player action of the PC version, but the console versions are fine to play with friends. :)

the only way 32 players are good is for map pack 7, everything, else is bad, it becomes a cluster. :([QUOTE="Brownesque"][QUOTE="Sandvichman"]Did you figure out to work the map or even try to find the enemy? Did you join an empty server? Maybe the reason it was so boring is because you couldn't find the server browser and got stuck on the menu screen. I want your Steam account and games list including Red Orchestra Ost Front and hours played. Edit your profile page to include a message to System Wars. Until we receive that, dear System Wars, please don't feed the trolls. I prefer to stay anymonous. I am not here to make you believe, because you wouldn't regardless. Gte out of your basement, and stop hating on people for disagreeing with you. No, you are right, i should just go back to cod, instead, silly me, being a inferior bro gamer and all. You prefer to stay anonymous? Obvious is obvious. You never played Red Orchestra.Wont change how damn boring the first was

I just discovered a new mod being worked on for Red orchestra 2 titled Rising storm

"
Rising Storm will cover the famous island-hopping campaigns in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945 as the US Army and Marine Corps fight it out with the Imperial Japanese army and Special Naval Landing Forces. Featuring some of the most brutal fighting in the Pacific theater, players will be able to experience beach assaults, jungle fighting, close quarters cave fighting and more across Corregidor, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and many other historic locations. The player will be able to take the part of either side – American or Japanese –playing through the Campaign Mode alone or with friends, or battle it out online in full player versus player multi-player.
Rising Storm will be created in a first-of-its-kind collaboration between a mod team and a professional game development studio. The Rising Storm team will be made up of the best developers from the Red Orchestra modding community and the mod community at large."

From the article:
"The mechanic is in place, Gibson says, to generate tension. "Little moments of panic are the why we enjoy being scared by movies or amusement park rides. For too long I feel that multiplayer shooter designers have only been trying to give players joy. Now is the time to stop feeding FPS players only cotton candy, and give them some steak and potatoes along with the sweet stuff."
"You never know exactly how much ammo you have in your gun, so you end up having those 'oh crap' moments where you run around the corner to shoot at enemies, pull the trigger, and nothing happens. It gives the player a brief moment of panic."
FGMPR
What, so no HuD with an ammo count? BF: Bad Company HC mode already does that. Too bad unesed Ammo get's rolled over. Still, far from innovative.

not official as in not getting funded by Tripwire as with Rising storm. The guy in charge of rising storm has actually appeared in interviews with the president of Tripwire, Rising Storm is being treated very much like a Psuedo expansion pack.

I think it might be official.I enjoyed the first game as much as I could. With no local (for me) servers I had enough trouble with ping, let alone trying to cope with the unique style of play. If RO2 is more mainstream there may be local servers. Either way I look forward to it. It looks great.

There are actually plenty of servers, the problem is that they released 2 official mods for free, and as a result the community split 3 way.
I know they are planning on doing official mods for RO2. I really hope they have a server browser that can browse all the official addons at the same time without having to relaunch the game.

Ok, so here's how this expansion/mod thing is going to work. It's kind of weird.
What can mod makers who want to join the Rising Storm team expect in terms of compensation?
John Gibson: As I mentioned earlier this is all new territory for the games industry and a big experiment for us. We really wanted to give a mod team an unprecedented opportunity. So this is what we are offering the mod team. If at the end of development Rising Storm is just a pretty good mod, we'll release it as an official mod for Heroes of Stalingrad the same way we've done for a couple of the mods for Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45. With an official mod we distribute it through Steam as essentially free DLC that anyone that owns the base game can get for free. We did this in the past for the Darkest Hour and Mare Nostrum mods for Red Orchestra: Ostfront and Defense Alliance 2 for Killing Floor.
Now here is where the real opportunity comes in for the mod team. If Rising Storm turns out to be really great then we'll actually turn it into a full paid add-on for Heroes of Stalingrad. This could very well involve us bringing the expansion in-house to give it additional QA and professional polish. The kicker is if we release Rising Storm as paid DLC we'll be sharing a percentage of the royalties with the mod team. This means that if Rising Storm does really well each member of the mod team could pocket a significant amount of money. And to ensure that the mod team gets something out of it, we're going to pay the mod team a completion bonus whether it becomes DLC or not. As the lines between the fans and the developers blur we think projects like this could be an all new way of making games. Of course it is an experiment, so we'll find out in the end how it all turns out.Big Download
Ibelieve In Country Vietnam is a regular ass mod unrelated to Tripwire.
Hay gai maybe you should read the article. Crazy, I know.To be honest it looks like another plain WW2 shooter. Unless someone can tell me what's so special about this game then any other ww2 fps.
Warhawk_
Two games utilizing the same setting doesn't make them alike. No one would call BF1942 a generic WW2 FPS, and the preview should give you a pretty good idea of why that should also be the case for Red Orchestra 2.To be honest it looks like another plain WW2 shooter. Unless someone can tell me what's so special about this game then any other ww2 fps.
Warhawk_
Yeah, because every ww2 fps has no cross hair, no ammo counter, a fully function cover system and total focus on realism in how you play right? To be honest it looks like another plain WW2 shooter. Unless someone can tell me what's so special about this game then any other ww2 fps.

Good to know there are still devs out there pushing the pc. Its a breath of fresh air compared to devs like dice/infinity ward/treyarch who shove out half asses games without even basic things like mod support.
I really wish TWI would just release an official gameplay video. The article reads quite well, but to people who haven't had a feel for the unique gameplay or even just seen it in action, it's not going to do much. People need to understand TWI didn't just take COD2 and tweak things to make it realistic. It's far from "just any other WW2 shooter".
Red Orchestra is NOT just Battlefield/COD Hardcore. The innovation behind some of the weaponry, for instance the 3D rifle scope, being able to adjust the sights, or even switch to the iron sights when engaging at a closer range givesthe role all new dimensions. It makes you feel like you're using all the functions of an actual weapon instead of just pointing and clicking. And IMO the fully modeled 3D tank interior is "generation-leaping" in itself. It's like having a lite vehicle simulator in the middle of an action-heavy FPS. The features and details (armour penetration system/bullet drop/etc) is fairly new for a military shooter.
Black Ops is said to have mod tools coming, though they are taking too long with it. And I wish BC2 had mods, would had been fantastic.Good to know there are still devs out there pushing the pc. although i had quite enough of WW2 oriented shooters, I'll probably make an exception for RO2... This preview was great and got me much more interested in the game :)
Eh, really? I see some cool stuff in there, definitly not your typical every day FPS. But "generation-leaping stuff"? I'll believe it when I see it...

I'm sure sitting in a trench waiting to be slaughtered in a 30 second sprint to oblivion with an unloaded rifle, whilst suffering from severe dysentery would make for a killer game.
