A forum post is evidence that PC gaming is dying? Wow... now you are just scraping at the sludge that has collected beneath the barrel.foxhound_foxAnd that sludge is my ****.
The part about the PC gaming selection in stores becoming smaller is true. At my local GameStop, they moved all the PC games to a smaller shelf, and a lot of the PC games just disappeared. :? However, at my local Target, it's a different story. However, the games there are mostly "Zoo Tycoon," "Freddy the Fish and the XXX," "EXTREME TRUCKS WITH BIG CAPITAL LETTERS AND LOTS OF EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Basically, casual games, I guess.DeathScape666Could be that digital distribution and online retail is taking over. Online stores often times have some GREAT deals...PC hardware especially. :| The prices of pc hardware in stores like Bestbuy are pretty much big rip offs.
Lmao no whats funny is that was posted on a PC fanbased website by a PC gamer.
It's also funny those who post piracy and say it's been around forever like that makes it ok! Oh and the comparison to a rental store and piracy was priceless!
Just another thread proven my points;)
The quote from the article where it says that consoles and console gaming is WIPING the floor compared to PC gaming needs to be pinned and locked so people know whats up and whose in the lead in system wars;)

PC gamers have got to stop complaining about retail because PC retail won't last forever. and with Retail out of the way PC gamers will download their games from now on useing programs like D2D and Steam. It's not just downloads. People are often forgetting about online shops. With shrinking retail section in shops most of us PCgamers buy boxed copies through shops like Amazon
sales do not equal great games. The consoles have always sold more then PC for multiplatform games and such. The consoles have been around in gameing for a much longer period as well. And yes Piracy has always been around. And its always been bad on PC. No need to being this up again. And none of your threads have proven anything. Especially since the majority of people in your threads do not agree with you. You really need to stop bashing PC and just go back to playing games. All you are doing this for is for attention it seems.Lmao no whats funny is that was posted on a PC fanbased website by a PC gamer.

The person who wrote this article is a PC gamer himself so read it carefully I will help "highlight" the important lines to back up my arguement!..;)
"Have any of you realized the lack of support for PC products as I have? It seems everywhere I go now the PC sections are getting smaller and smaller."
"So with all the vendors and retailers removing PC stock(including performance parts and hardware) from their shelves where does this leave all of us?? Sure you can say the internet!! But that doesn't help you when even most of our larger sites our trimming down their offerings as well."
"Recent articles involving the makers of Crysis, Titan's Quest, and now even John Carmack and ID software express they are switching their focus to consoles primarily because PC games just aren't selling anymore."
"Console sales and gaming is wiping the floor with PC's and all the evidence supports this."
The Last line is ownage for the thread

Did you actually read that post critically? Or, as your signature suggests, do you take pride in being an obnoxious and crude presence in these forums.
The evidence that PC gaming is dying offered by that post is simply retail stores are not carrying PC games in the same quantity as before. That's not even really a properly documented trend, it's based on the anecdotes of some random forum poster from Tomhardware.Â
So why then, might this poster be seeing fewer retail PC games? Digital Distribution has explains this. Fewer retail stores are going to bother stocking PC games, most dedicated PC gamers will simply log onto D2D or Steam to get their software, since its a much more efficient and safe service. If I break my disk with a retail copy, I have to rebuy the product. With a Steam account, I always have access to the software once paying for it.
The problem is actually sources like the NPD don't know how to accurately measure digital distribution. They even admit this. Digital distribution is merely the shift to the future, a shift which consoles will go through too. Music has already made the jump, in the US the largest retailer of music is now iTunes, not Walmart.
The other major point is the citing of the increasing trend of PC only developers moving towards multiplatform status. This of course neglects the other side of the argument; many traditionally console-only developers have also released their products on PC in the past few years for the first time ever. Some examples include Devil May Cry, Rare with Viva Pinata, Lost Planet, Resident Evil and Guitar Hero.
The other examples you give are laughable. Iron Lore, the makers of Titan's Quest have actually shut down about 9 months ago (proving neither you or the post creator has much idea of current movings), Carmack claimed merely that console games appeared to be selling better (not that they were abandoning PC, in that interview your obviously referencing he said ", although obviously, our day-to-day development is predominately on the PC.") and Crytek have not announced a single console exclusive game, merely indicated they would focus on both PC and console in the future.

I would rather walk into a store and buy the game then order online and wait about a week..JangoWuzHerethen you are in minority. Especialy since to get the PC game you want you would propably have to visit 5-6 shops before you would find it if it's anything but the biggest most hyped games. Waiting few days isn't that bad, especialy for people over 30ty (which are majority of PCgamers)

And the name calling and such.Thats the only weapon some have when facts are given that they don't like mixed with lack of being informed in the gaming industry you get name calling! But I have posted article after article of people in the industry saying the same thing about PC gaming:) I'll stick with those peeps;)

Computer devs have been going to consoles since the start of PCgaming. Even Rare started like this. So if this has been happening for30 years already how is it a sign of PCgamong dying?
And everything else you provide are opinions, yours or of other people.
Facts show that PCgaming is doing fine, the fact is that it's bigger and more profitable than ever. That's a simple fact actual sales date prove. Â

Your topic is based on the anecdotal musings of an anonymous forum poster.... Do you honestly believe that has more authority than say, an NPD analyst? So what! He is a PC fan and he is fair in his post. And it's funny Danm999 how you avoid the fact that whole software companies are making a move to consoles because their sick of losing money! It is person after person, company after company, PC is not the leading platform period. Consoles are more popular and have more games and are way better in sales. And before you try the download line then ask the devs who are starting to make console games along side PC's who are sick of losing money why they just don't stay PC exclusive since there is so much money being made in the download part of it! Huh funny they say they still lose money. I take the word of the people in the industry
st. And it's funny Danm999 how you avoid the fact that whole software companies are making a move to consoles because their sick of losing money! It is person after person, company after company, PC is not the leading platform period. Consoles are more popular and have more games and are way better in sales.Erm...which company was loosing money? You're spreading nonsense. They move because they can make more money on consoles, not because they were loosing money on PC.
jasonheyman
And PC not leading platform? Consoles being more popular and having better sales? Lol... are you 10 years old or something? Is this your first generation? Because otherwise you would realize it has ALWAYS been like this. PC was never the leading platform of industry and never the most popular or best selling one. PCgaming has always been niche and since forever some PC devs were switching to consoles.
So explain to me... how is this a sign of PCgaming dying? It's exactly the same as it has been for the last 30 years. How come suddenly something that has always been natural element of PCgaming is somehow a sign of the platform dying now?
See my post on the last page. Just because your not reading my responses on the issue doesn't mean I'm ignoring it.[QUOTE="jasonheyman"][QUOTE="jasonheyman"] Consoles are more popularjasonheyman
Bzzt. There is an estimated 263 million PC gamers worldwide. That's larger than the userbases of the PS3, Wii, 360, Xbox, PS2 amd GameCube combined.

So what if they have more games? Quantity doesn't equal quality.

Fact Consoles make more money in sales the PC

As they always did.
Â
You want more facts?
Fact : console games cost far more than PC ones to make
Fact: console games cost many times more to advertise
Fact: only the biggest developers can survive on consoles.
Fact: most PC devs do not belong in above category
And no...sales steadily go up, the only thing that goes up and down are retail US only salesÂ

lol blizzard havnt said anything about piracy. and people here need to learn what facts are because a few devs say something DOES NOT make it FACT.The reason why is because of Battlenet which makes Blizzard pretty much imune to piracy. And yes they have hinted at it due to the possible charge of their survice when Starcraft 2 is being released. Why is Blizzard and Valve taking all these safety precautions with WoW and L4D if Piracy isn't a problem? EA even went as far as to implent DRM and removing of LAN Co-Op support for Red Alert 3.
