PC gamers hating Halo

I think it was interesting. thoughts?

I personally played the game for a few hours online with a bunch of friends. I thought the game had fun game play, but I do think it's way overrated. WarHawk, IMO, has better online game play.The_Gamer81

warhawk's ground combat is rubbish. i love the warhawks and only every play the dogfights.

I only played the first halo and thought it was good but the level design was really boring like that guy said but i thought the flood was cool and the vechicles.Holden1985

Speaking of which, why does the Covenant speak perfect english? Even if they did why would they be using the language letting Master Chief know they are pissing their pants.

I totally agree with him.. Most rational people arn't saying its a bad game, they just can't believe how its being worshipped by alot of people as the best game ever.. To me its like a person watching a pretty good movie for sci-fi and claiming its the best out there.. Why? Because they havn't played many if any others.. Thats how I see Halo 3, its a good game thats at least worth a rent by any oen who owns a Xbox360.. But claiming its one of the best games ever made? Hell no.sSubZerOo

And another person could say the exact same thing about consoles, was there a point to this post? No one is saying PC is the best out there, just that Halo 3 is way over-rated by the attention and rants it gets, nothing more nothing less. Its a fun game no doubt, I would give it a 8.0 to 8.5 a very respectable score indeed, but hyping is as one of teh best games/shooters of all time? no.

Agreed with most of it, but towards the end with the consoles are more popular crap , yea if you add all the consoles, but individually they are slaughtered by the PC gaming community .

But yep, its true, everything about Halo has been done before for us, its character design is average , Halo1/2's SP level designs were terrible , MP "ok" ... Halo 3 has good SP levels but for some reason AWFUL MP maps...

You know, its purely marketing and sheepish culture, and it frustrates people..

Its like ... Stargate SG:1 being outsold by Stargate: Atlantis ... or Star Wars Ep 4/5/6 being outsold by 1/2/3 ... like WTF? why...?

No one is saying that a pc gamer can't like Halo, alot of people are only saying that its over-rated.. For instance I liked Bioshock alot, I think alot of sites relativly overblew it out of proportions due to some glaring flaws as having a complete lack of the so called rpg elements and the decision making that really didn't do anything.

When you PC game you start to have standards for good games, so its hard to go from a game like Counter Strike or UT to HaloGarchomPro

I know someone who is an avid Counter Strike player (has been playing it for years now) but has no problem switching to Halo.

Playing Halo with friends is an absolute blast. Some of the most fun I've had in videogaming.

However I'll still prefer to play many other PC games like Quake 3 or CS then Halo. Halo is a good game and that can't be denied but the whole point of this arguement is how did it get to this point? Why is Halo where it is now even though other greater games are struggling (and we can look past the FPS genre).

In general, we always have games that are popular and then we have some of the greatest games out there that never have gotten any attention. Why is that?

Playing Halo with friends is an absolute blast. Some of the most fun I've had in videogaming.

However I'll still prefer to play many other PC games like Quake 3 or CS then Halo. Halo is a good game and that can't be denied but the whole point of this arguement is how did it get to this point? Why is Halo where it is now even though other greater games are struggling (and we can look past the FPS genre).

In general, we always have games that are popular and then we have some of the greatest games out there that never have gotten any attention. Why is that?

Halo is a great console shooter; but it's outdated by about 1.5 years compared to the PC shooter genre.

Same here.

Halo is a great console shooter; but it's outdated by about 1.5 years compared to the PC shooter genre.

Being a PC owner, I don't feel compelled to go buy Halo 3, even if I owned a 360, because just like Halo 1 and 2, the PC version will eventually come out and be BETTER and even more polished. (and more mod-able)

Well, i'm a PC gamer, ive played and loved halflife 1 and 2, duke nukem, battlefield andthestarsiege tribes series and i'm currently playing quakewars... i also have halo 3 on the 360....

I don't see how halo 3 is years behind pc fps gaming, honestly? I don't even see how it's just "average" and "done before"?

It's an fps, granted, but for me the melee and grenade hotkeys, sticky grenades and arcadey vehicles give it a pretty unique feel compared to other shooters, just like how jetpacks are unique to tribes. Then, certain events like the Scarab battles in the SP campaign... where you're taking down this giant 4 legged metallic monster with a tiny atv , dogfights going overhead, squadmates getting crushed underneath, WHILE taking on the scarab's crew and trying to blow it's generator.... Sorry but i don't know any other fps that has that same scope nor "rush" that halo 3 can put on the table... And what about COOP?? No pc game has yet to include the feature even though the SVEN mod for HL 1 was awesome/popular.

Oh and to the PC guy in the the link, ewoks RULED :P

I'm not saying it is the best game of all time, but I mean it is up there. For me on the 360 Gears of War still is my favorite game. Halo 3 is starting to go over that. I have played many shooters before, from Quake, Doom, never got into Half Life, Unreal, and so forth, I can't explain it but its something about Halo that just grabs me in and keeps me there for a long time, Its fun and enjoyable game. I think with its sales, and amount of great reviews it gets from people its hard not say it is one of the greatest FPS of all time. Its basically like saying the Cowboys, 49ers, Pittsburgh are all over hyped teams even though they have all won 5 superbowls each. Halo 3 has the following and has the sales to put it up there as one of the best FPS ever in history. To say it is overhyped trash and this and that is just negative not well thought out criticism. I think that is just bashing it. If you dont like the game you still have to give it credit for what it has accomplished and what it has done fore the gaming community.

Halo 3's problem was that Halo 2 was so great it's kinda hard for it to be BETTER then Halo 2.

As it turns out, Halo 3 is just Halo 2 with nicer graphics and a complicated Level Editor.

you beat me to it, I love tomshardware and these guys are always putting out great videos. I agree almost 100% with the video. They are just being sarcastic when they are call it "Halo Hate", it's like many have said, the hype just doesn't match the game and it could better be described as "Halo Frustration". Doesn't mean we don't like Halo, just that it's to the point of ridiculousness. Like they said in the video, there are so many other games that deserve the attention Halo gets, and as fans of those other games, it's frustrating, but not hate. I definately got a chuckle out of them making a video about it though, good points. mismajor99

yeah tomshardware is one of the best tech sites out there. I love going there to read stuff on various tests..etc. like I said before, Halo is a good game, but there much greater games out there. I don't understand the Halo hype either.
