Cutscene (where the budget went), QTE, mediocre cover shooting from 2006, repeat.

I like that.

We know. When it's really all you get for your exclusives, you really have no choice.

Nah. They've decent gameplay too. You people just dont know it because you jumped far too quickly on the "idiot bandwaggon" because some bigger idiots on interenet forums told you these games are all cutscenes and nothing else.

Or you know, we've played them... use to playing games with far more variety/options/challenges and are simply not impressed by how shallow and limited these games end up being in the gameplay department?

Uncharted/Last of Us are prime examples of this, if they wern't flashy they would went down as "nobody cares" games.

Getting the Deus Ex games to work in a decent way for example was more than a hassle

Deus Ex 1 supports 16:9 resolutions and works on modern systems out of the box with no issues, same as every other UE1 game. I have no idea what "hassle" you're talking about.

For me GOTY already came out in the form of Monster Hunter World, and i'm not looking forward to much across any platform for the rest of 2018. PC least of all, but I guess there's the upcoming Dark Souls remaster. And I loved MHW so much I'm probably going to double dip on the PC version.

It's not looking great for my other two systems either. PS4 in particular has several big AAA games coming out like Dad of War, Spider Man (I think?), and David Cage's latest trainwreck but I'm not looking forward to any of them. Maybe From will surprise us at E3 and release their new project later this year. Red Dead is supposed to come out by the end of this year but frustratingly little has been shown of it so I'm not excited. I think the Switch kind of blew its load last year and doesn't really have anything besides Wii U ports, unless you count Smash 5, but that's almost definitely going to be delayed.

I can safely say nothing on that list (that I know is going to come out this year) really interests me.

Anyone who isn't a PC gamer is missing out. Once you go PC, there is no going back.

And yet I left PC gaming and have no interest in going back..... paying thousands for a PC just to play 3rd party games at slightly better settings, resolution and frame rates while still missing the good exclusive games became boring.

My last PC (Built in 2014 so slow by today's standards)

De-lidded 3770k and direct die water cooled @5Ghz

SLI GTX970 flashed with custom BIOS and clocked at 1.7Ghz under full cover blocks

RAID 0 SSD

That PC had more money spent on water cooling gear then most people spend on their entire rig.

Loads of games on my STEAM account just sitting there and doing nothing and if it was legal to sell a STEAM account I would of sold it ages ago.

All that money and time (Although I loved the building process) just to play games that at their core were no better then their console versions.

The only thing I kept from my PC gaming days was my 1440p monitor, which now has my PS4 connected to it.

And you're only spending thousands of dollars on a PC of you're buying a prebuilt.

The 2018 list looks superb, just like every year pc get more and better exclusives and also the best version of multiplats.

@scatteh316:

You gave a subjective response to an objective statement.

Fact 1. You said you stopped PC gaming due to missing out on good exclusives. But accordingly to MC and GS, PC gets the most good exclusives per year. By a large margin. Objectively, the person you quoted was correct and you were wrong.

Fact 2. It doesn't cost thousands more to beat out consoles. This is a flat out lie. Please do not lie. And you appear to already own PC parts, meaning you probably would have to pay far less than even one thousand dollars. This extreme exaggerating response makes it appear as if you are trolling.

Fact 3. Double to triple the frames is not a minor difference. This alone is rather striking to the human eye. Same goes for several gfx settings depending on the games. Or gfx mods.

Fact 4. PC is home to competitive gaming and entire competitive genres. The next system over isn't even 1/5th as big. I can't imagine this at 20-30 frames, to relate this to fact2. Or thumbsticks. Or the sheer lack of high skill cap online games.

Summary: Its not a stretch someone would pay around double (or less, if upgrading) the price of a XB1X to experience the better version of nearly every video game on that system (substantially so for some games) on top of having 2-3x more good exclusive per year and extremely better online gaming options.

You pay more for the far superior product. Welcome to the planet Earth.

A high clocked 970 is still on par with a GTX 1060, which is easy with water (ASIC depending), so there's still more power in that box than any console running today.

Cable management is your friend though. You could have got a few more beats out of it with better airflow, it's still important with water cooling you know.

Nah. They've decent gameplay too. You people just dont know it because you jumped far too quicjly on the "idiot bandwaggon" because some people on forums told you these games are all cutscenes and nothing else.

Or you know, we've played them... use to playing games with far more variety/options/challenges and are simply not impressed by how shallow and limited these games end up being in the gameplay department?

Uncharted/Last of Us are prime examples of this, if they wern't flashy they would went down as "nobody cares" games.

Again, I always find ironic a The Witcher fan to point the finger at games that definitely do gameplay better than The Witcher ever did.

Oh, and if you dont believe I've beat all The Witchers, you can check yourself on my steam account. I've beat The Witcher 1 at 41h (wich has trully HORRID gameplay) and beat The Witcher 2 and have the achievement to prove it. When it comes to The Witcher 3 you can see my trophies

again, fvckin ironic and hypocrite to see a The Witcher fan to call out other games for their "lack" of gameplay, wich definitely isnt true. U4 and U:TLL have great gunplay and fluidity/dynamics of movement within combat situations. They also have great A.I. When it comes to The Last of Us it definitely has decent survival mechanics and gunplay. Horizon Zero Dawn also has good gameplay. Dont be a liar if you've actually played them you would realise they've decent gameplay, at the very least. You might have a problem with their pacing for being cinematic (something I've zero problems with) but the gameplay is definitely there

Because his PC was so expensive (Thousands? He is either trolling or got ripped-off) he is upset at it, and wants an objectively inferior gaming experience in nearly all games to spite it? What? 20-30 to 60+ fps alone is night and day, and someone who has a PC like that knows that fact from constant use, unless he never used it.

"Guys, My Ferrari cost so damn much. Annoying! I'm not gonna drive that stupid thing, were are the keys to my CIVIC."

Yeah. He's certainly not just trying to get a rise out of people here with an illogical contrarian viewpoint. Surely not a troll.

Cutscene (where the budget went), QTE, mediocre cover shooting from 2006, repeat.

I like that.

We know. When it's really all you get for your exclusives, you really have no choice.

Nah. They've decent gameplay too.

And even the witcher managed to have a variety of enemies, an incredible ammount of options and choices.....

Uncharted? oh .... thieves... and more thieves... maybe some mutants in the first one because WHY NOT TPS FARCRY .....

yea, keep pretending those are equal comparisons.

well I would think (but dont know) that checkers has more options then that.

but fair enough let me back out of this conversation while I still can :)

although I should point out the phrase 'an incredible ammount of options' when meaning 'more than uncharted' which I assume means magnitude of 10 or 5 instead of 100 is a bit off in use of words

Choices means anything.

Where to go next?

What choice did I make that changed the outcome?

What traits/skills do I choose?

What enemies can I kill?

These kinda games are leagues apart. a playthrough in Uncharted is exactly the same beyond bullet sponge difficulty. They are shallow easily created games.

let me try this again with the same words

QUOTE:

'an incredible ammount of options'

MEANING

'more options then Uncharted which can mean 5 but absolutely does not imply 100'

ASSESSMENT:

to me 'an incredible ammount of options' means 100 or more options for skill sets alone REGARDLESS of the context

having more options than Uncharted but still only lets say 20 is not 'an incredible ammount of options' in any context

All I can do is shrug, you are entitled to your interpretation.

But just don't look so confused or surprised when Witcher 3 stands the test of time, and Uncharted 4 (lets be honest it already is) becomes pretty forgettable.

personally I think they are both simple movie games but that is my opinion.

From my perspective (for example) a 'good' game is one that requires a wiki to even understand, likely has about 100 skills min. and liklely doesnt reveal everything about it in a weekend of play. at least this is a sloppy way of me trying to paint a picture.

but i am different that way :) so I see it from a different perspective

Enemy variety? Options? lol, dont make me laugh. The alchemy in The Witcher was poor and really wasnt needed at all when "cast armor spell and mash square square square square" was all needed to do to beat most fights. All that enemy "variety" was an ilusion because outside of the ghosts, all of them, being human or monster had the exact same outcome. Hell, even the ghosts all you had to do was fight in a spell circle and the rest was exactly the same sh*t

And its funny you focus only on Uncharted when Uncharted wasnt the only game you were pointing your finger at. Are you gonna tell me Horizon or even TLoU didnt had enemy variety? gtfo

Oh and btw, even if Uncharted had mostly "thieves and mercenaries" as enemies you still had some variety within their ranks like gunners, gattling machine troops, snipers and in U2 you had the "yetis", in U3 you had the Djin. etc, etc. Sure it isnt much varied, but its still ahead of the average shooter. Why do you hermits praise Half Life so much when its mostly troops throughout the whole game also? Again, hypocrite much?

Perhaps i should mention the New Gundam Breaker, or as i'd like to call it... ALL ABOARD THE NAIVETY TRAIN! But that's likely a rant that will warrant its own thread later down the line.
