alright since the last thread conoslites werent understanding it fully, here it goes again: pc gaming is much cheaper;

pc: about $800 including moniter speakers and everything which will still blow consoles out of the water + games at release cost $50 in steam and as low as $2

console: $300 + $1300 for t.v.+ $80 for games at release ($69.99 + %13 tax)

(and i know what consolite r gonna say "buh buh evry onez haz a t.v.'z" well everyone has to have a computer. i mean how are u even viewing this thread right now?)

obviously u can see that pc is cheaper, heck even if u upgrade $100 bucks a year, it will still be cheaper

so please, in the future, please do not play that old "pc gaming costs $5345 and consoles cost $300!!!" card again because U R WRONG!

They're both kind of expensive. I mean you don't NEED an HD TV unless you wanna play Dead Rising (cause it has like the most unreadable words in SD). You also do not NEED top of the line hardware on PC. I do enjoy not spending 60 on games though, and the pricing dropping faster than normal as well.

They can be similar in price, or they can have a world of difference in price. It depends on the end user, and whether they buy 2-3 games per year or upwards of that.

I know it's cheaper. Everyone knows that. On what other system can you buy 18 next gen games for 99$?

Try $500CDN for a 720p 32-inch. Why go with a ridiculous price tag considering the severe reduction in HDTV costs on LCD's.

not everyone will buy a tv just for gaming and to waste so much just to play games isnt worth it unless you got money to waste :) and if your also buying a monitor on top of that when you could just hock it up to you tv is more of a waste......but you know its what you wanted and seeing as i dont know how your house is set up you might have limited space to play around with :P

Its questionable about the TV. I mean yea, duh, everybody has a computer. Everybody doesn't have a computer that can run new games.

It varies from person to person. For me... I could spend the 800 dollars (not that I know how to build a computer, but pretending I did) and get a computer to run all the new games, or I could spend 300 dollars on an xbox and hook it up to my family's TV. Sure, if I had to buy the TV myself, I would have likely forgotten my dream of having an xbo and stuck to PC gaming. But I DID have a TV lol.

And i like on xbox, even without bargain hunting or using unreputable means, its easy to get older games cheap. Simply Gamestop's used games (which they dont have for PC) are very cheap. Wait 1-2 years (depending how wildly popular the game was) and its down to 30 dollars, even the most popular ones. Wait at least 2 years, even the most popular ones are 15 bucks. its just so consistent its great. GotY or no, they all drop in price quite fast. PC you can get used games and old games cheap, but they tend to be sorta on and off deals that are a bit irregular.

The TV is as useful as a PC is today.

So you need a PC anyway.

Almost ALL modern PCs EVEN NON GAMING ones come with quite strong processors and LOADS of RAM....

So you get a CHEAP NON gaming PC at $400 THE LEAST. Plus $300 for the Console and wait youve got a $700 combo...So why not simply get a gaming PC at $700?

that is still more than pc gaming just to tell you and yes if you go to best buy or future shop and ask their magaer for sales spreadsheet (my cousin is a manager at best buy) you will see the average is $1400.

if we r playing the cheap game, you can build an entire gaming pc thatll blow consoles outta the water for about $500-$600 including monitor

Thanks for such a hilarious few posts

alright since the last thread conoslites werent understanding it fully, here it goes again: pc gaming is much cheaper;

pc: about $800 including moniter speakers and everything which will still blow consoles out of the water + games at release cost $50 in steam and as low as $2

console: $300 + $1300 for t.v.+ $80 for games at release ($69.99 + %13 tax)

(and i know what consolite r gonna say "buh buh evry onez haz a t.v.'z" well everyone has to have a computer. i mean how are u even viewing this thread right now?)

obviously u can see that pc is cheaper, heck even if u upgrade $100 bucks a year, it will still be cheaper

so please, in the future, please do not play that old "pc gaming costs $5345 and consoles cost $300!!!" card again because U R WRONG!

iliatay

Your logic is extremely flawed. Everyone has a TV, therefore its cost should not be included to the cost of a console, since you would buy it ANYWAY to watch TV. Plus - a gaming PC for $800 (including a monitor) wouldn't last very long. I'd say - at least $1000-1200 if you want it to be useful and run all the newest games for at least 3-4 years.

that is still more than pc gaming just to tell you and yes if you go to best buy or future shop and ask their magaer for sales spreadsheet (my cousin is a manager at best buy) you will see the average is $1400

So because the average spent is $1400, every TV costs that amount?

Not only that, but we're assuming that as fact. Even though it's an arbitrary number the TC pulled out of thin air as of now.

[QUOTE="00154"][QUOTE="iliatay"] nope only for gaming since im never going back to cable since i watch all my movies and tvshows on my pc

iliatay

not everyone will buy a tv just for gaming and to waste so much just to play games isnt worth it unless you got money to waste :) and if your also buying a monitor on top of that when you could just hock it up to you tv is more of a waste......but you know its what you wanted and seeing as i dont know how your house is set up you might have limited space to play around with :P

oh and werent u the one who blew your money away and bought a mac thinking it can play games? talk about wasting money...

Haha yeah i bought my iMac not for gaming but was saying that it can also be used for gaming (most people dont know that)......i have my ps3 and xbox 360 for that anyway

1st TV

2nd TV

3rd TV

4th TV

That's 4 examples for you.

Also,m do you have proof that the average family pays $1400 for a TV in Canada?

So in other words, you have no proof then?

I didn't say it wasn't more, you put a ridiculous price up for a tv, and I stated you can buy a 32-inch for $500CDN. You didn't believe me, I proved it, and you proved nothing.

Thanks for such a hilarious few posts

26" 720p TV = $290

A PS3 Slim = $299

So, sub-$600.

A new release game= $56

Oh, and all of this is on Amazon, so no tax and free shipping.

Sweet, on my next Uni essay, i'll tell the professor to go ask a certain somebody for the information i'm displaying to prove or disprove my thesis. Seems as that's the way you do things :o

You need accessible proof to back up statements of fact my friend.

alright since the last thread conoslites werent understanding it fully, here it goes again: pc gaming is much cheaper;

pc: about $800 including moniter speakers and everything which will still blow consoles out of the water + games at release cost $50 in steam and as low as $2

console: $300 + $1300 for t.v.+ $80 for games at release ($69.99 + %13 tax)

(and i know what consolite r gonna say "buh buh evry onez haz a t.v.'z" well everyone has to have a computer. i mean how are u even viewing this thread right now?)

obviously u can see that pc is cheaper, heck even if u upgrade $100 bucks a year, it will still be cheaper

so please, in the future, please do not play that old "pc gaming costs $5345 and consoles cost $300!!!" card again because U R WRONG!

KiZZo1

Your logic is extremely flawed. Everyone has a TV, therefore its cost should not be included to the cost of a console, since you would buy it ANYWAY to watch TV. Plus - a gaming PC for $800 (including a monitor) wouldn't last very long. I'd say - at least $1000-1200 if you want it to be useful and run all the newest games for at least 3-4 years.

no ur logic is flawed. everyone also has a pc and an $800 would last you minimum 4 years. i had a pc i built for $780 in 2006 that i was gaming on until 6 months ago

I'm pretty sure Lundy prefers the PC. You're argument is just insultingly biased. I can get a TV for under $300 (The one I'm using now actually).

I know quite a lot of people who just use their TV for gaming however i don't know anyone who just uses their PC for gaming.

The TV does not factor into the cost of a console. What can you not understand about this?

Everyone already has a PC and monitor. Should those be included? If not, then just add a 100$ graphics card and play games far better than consoles. If yes, then you're a hypocrite.

The TV does not factor into the cost of a console. What can you not understand about this?

789shadow
You need a TV to use one therefore it is included in the p[rice of using a console as a form of entertainment.

That's bull****. A TV is not solely used for gaming, therefore it cannot be factored into gaming costs.

Not 500. The size needs to be comparable to your rig's monitor, which will be in the mid 20" range, which means a comparable TV will be $300 or less.

Okay, then the monitor and PC excluding the graphics card shouldn't be included either. Thus, PC gaming wins even more especially with much cheaper games.

You do not go out and buy a TV just to play games. Therefore it is not a gaming expense.

So because you don't watch TV on it, it counts as a gaming expense for everyone?
