[QUOTE="washd123"]that's why it's such a serious hobby for some people. It's not cheap, but the performance is worth the effort. If you want something easier to use go for a console, that's why they exist. They are an inferior product in terms of gaming but you get what you pay for.well at least its cheaper and easier to use.
console are way too expensive.
rabakill
you mean pc.
consoles are way too expensive. and theyre about equal for ease of use.
Might be the biggest waste of $2000 i have ever spent, good thing I'm loaded tho.
And at least my picture album loads up fast.
What did you build? As in, what are the specs of your PC? Also provide some pictures, of course, of your rig.
im preferable to console gaming myself as well, pc gamings not bad though. i've enjoyed my share of everything from the old 90's arcade ports and the gold box d&d games up to crysis. while generally pc does look a little better ive noticed people overreact. crysis looks good but even on my pc as "vanilla" it looks good but between framerate issues, monitor fullscreen issues and a small bevy of other issues i had getting the game setup and running, the consoles are just easier to deal with (i cant run it full screen, just windowed in an almost full screen, and if anyone thinks im bs'ing, google "crysis samsung full screen problems") if being more streamlined means i don't have full 3d hd shadows for everything in the game then fine, i'll deal with that.
My god...Might be the biggest waste of $2000 i have ever spent, good thing I'm loaded tho.

Thanx, I like your stylish monitor.
It's a Samsung PX2370, just came out a couple weeks ago.
LED, 1080p, 2ms response time, 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, Great viewing angles for a TN panel, i like it a lot.

Is there anything more graphically impressive than Crysis? Maybe I'm just not looking at the right games.
I'm awaiting proof that you own that rig, actually. Is there anything more graphically impressive than Crysis? Maybe I'm just not looking at the right games.

REally depends on the game. My PC is in dire need of an upgrade, so my pc gaming is not impressive :P
I built a computer, and I must say, PC Gaming is not impressive at all. What was all the hooplah about? Even the graphics (Crysis) which are so highly touted are hardly better than consoles.
GioVela2010
PC gaming for me is unlike console gaming in the sense that there isn't always something I'm interested in playing at any given moment, unlike consoles. With consoles, especially if you own more than one, there is a likely chance that there is, for the most part, always a new game to keep you busy. Solid PC games are a bit few and far between, especially this gen, but when they do hit the shelves, they are truly epic.
But you gotta admit, PC games are responsible for sucking more lifeblood out of gamers than any other system in existence. Think Battlefield 1942, BF2, WOW, and all the endless multiplayer games PC is known for. Not that consoles aren't time-vampires, but you gotta hand it to the PC in that aspect.

Technically or artistically?
Technically, no, as Crysis does what it does whilst rendering a very, very large island.
Artisitically, definately. I like the look of Metro 2033 better (haven't played the game yet), along with the Stalker series, Sins etc etc.
PC gamers...the most easiest trolled faction in SW.

Better is purely opinion. Just because you don't prefer it doesn't mean other people don't. I personally like PC gaming more, however I still enjoy playing the consoles.
GioVela2010
I meant the graphics, which is borderline between opinion and truth.
Borderline between opinion and truth? I don't think so... the only reason it would be borderline is if you were using sub par hardware. Obviously cards from 2 (the geforce 8 series for instance) generations ago will not look as superior to consoles as cards from last generation (the 9 series) And then if you have a GTX 2## class card you are destroying anything that the consoles can offer. That isn't opinion.Im not gonna say any system is better but pc owners do need to stop with the PC is the best comments.Respawn-d
You are going to criticise PC gamers for defending their platform of choice in a thread specifically attacking that platform?
Im not gonna say any system is better but pc owners do need to stop with the PC is the best comments. Its not, its just as good. Sadly many dont seem to get that good graphics arent needed for good games. Give me spyro the dragon over crysis anydayRespawn-d
Here is what happens. When the PC is out of the picture, the 360/PS3 fanboys are all about technical prowess, and laugh the Wii off. When the PC enters the equation, then they go all "gameplay >>> graphics" on you. Please.
And then what is wrong with PC gamers thinking their platform is superior? We are elitist jerks for that? What about PS3 owners who think their better than 360 owners, or both of them thinking their better than Wii owners? Hypocrites, all of you!

PC gaming shines when it comes to precision and speed, it's the only viable system for competetive play. Rest is just preference.

You're misunderstanding computer hardware. There are different variations of cards. The GTX 2** series are DX10/10.1 cards, along with the ATI 4*** series. You're card is in the ATI 5*** series, similar to the GTX 4** series and utilizes DX11 (though only a few games use it as of right now).
Barring these things, upgrading a GPU to a more powerful GPU allows for bumps in resolution, effects, and gives a nice bump in FPS.

Why not use the 50'' if you prefer it? And what about audio?Because I mainly bought the PC for Strategy Games (and regular everyday use) , and strategy games on a couch and regular every day use on a flatscreen/couch dont go well together.
And about the audio, probably just gonna get some Orb 2.0 Speakers for the PC. I don't want my desk/computer area looking all cluttered.

I figure the Orb Speakers in the brushed metal finish with black mesh screens would match well with the rest of my setup.

Again no, because you have one of the highest end cards on the market right now. You have the newest series of ATI GPU's which utilizes DX11 (should the game use DX11). You should be running pretty much every game available on highest settings at decent resolutions.
Furthermore, did someone build this computer for you? Pardon my rudeness, but you seem to have very little understanding regarding computer componenets. This would make it incredibly difficult to put a PC together and get it up and running.

It wouldn't take much effort to hook my PC up to my 55'' LCD and 7.1 surround. If I wanted to sit on the couch all I would have to do is plug in the controller I have for racing or fighting games. Console gaming isn't better by any stretch, didn't read the thread but I'm waiting for the Sheep, Lemmings and Cows to combine all their systems in an argument against the PC which proves that the system is better since you need 3 to the 1.
