Since 87% of pc players are also console players, we can easily assume we want both.

Each of these items addresses a specific need. If the pc was the all in one gaming device that some seem to believe...We won't feel the need to buy consoles.

But the fact is that we do buy them and for a reason, but SW seem to turn a blind eye on that. As usual.

The way people talk in system wars it's easy to think it's the other way round, 87% of console gamers have gaming PC's.

I'm a PC gamer through and through, have been since I built my first PC (that was likely before a lot of people on here were born) but I've owned at least one console every generation (I do mean every gen). The way I look at these threads is if I had only one system, which would it be? That's where I get my answer from, can't speak for anyone else though.

Isn't the purpose of owning a console is the fact that exclusive games matter that you cannot play anywhere else?

Both PS4 & even now, Switch offer good exclusive games now, that's the reason why I own PS4, Switch, because it has the exclusive games I wanted to play on, but my PC is also my ultimate gaming. Owning a console nowadays is just a bonus option if you see something that you wanna play if it doesn't come to PC at all.

More than that, it's got to do with what kind of games you are used to play on some specific system!!! Kind of some habit.

I enjoy fps on pc, fighting games on consoles, Jrpg on consoles, Wrpg on pc and so on...

The technical side of it, res, fps, pixelcounts etc is not something that bothers me at all. Nor the 30/60 fps mantra!!!

Of course exclusives matters too, but I'll never play SFV on pc, and i have a potent one, as I will enjoy much more, let's say : Skyrim on pc even if i can play it on consoles.

For me, some genres are more suited for some specific system, even if people on consoles play lotta of fps now, i still consider this genre designed for pc, for example, and this is true for all other genres. Take DCS as sim, noone in his right mind will think to bring that to consoles!!!

But that's just my experience, and I just wanted to point out that as harsh as SW can be on console with regards to the technical side, the majority of pc players don't pay much attention to that. They enjoy their games no matter what the platform is.

Console.

1. I appreciate the ease of use and the fact that I'm not looking at computer screen like I do all day.

2. Unified experience when used with a controller. No need to "controller mode" to navigate the UI. I have no want to use a KBM. I do that all day. I'm trying to stay away from carpal. :)

I know Steam (the big picture or whatever they call it allows for contoller mode navigation, but I dno't know about Origin and other services).

3. My friends are on XBL

People don't just have preference of platform, they also have preference of form factor.

For example someone who PREFERS to use tablets or laptops, can't really play AAA games on it, especially if it's a Macbook or Linux.

That's why consoles are handy, it's a "cheap pc in a box" for $250 bucks that can scratch that itch.

I for example love laptops, I don't like using desktop computers, I prefer the laptop "look and feel."

So I'd be locked out of gaming or only relegated to playing Civ V or something.

Voila, with a console I can still be a laptop ho and still have a machine to play AAA games.

Nothing agaainst PC, it's a great system, and technically the best, just not everyone's cup of tea.

Get a new laptop that is actually more powerful than your phone, or don't and carry on gaming on your Xbox One. It's entirely your choice.

Either way I really couldn't care less tbh.

I have a Dell XPS. It's quite nice actually. Bought it for work and such. Nice and compact. Good for traveling and surely more powerful than a phone. Don't think it does games, though...

What he said, get a new laptop. The Asus Rog Strix, for instance, will easily outpace your Xbox One.

I just bought it. But it all seems too complicated for me. First I hear Apple Books can't play games and now Dell too. I'm just glad Microsoft ensures every single Xbox One can handle any game on the market.

You don't know much about Windows, do you?

You can run any game. It's all up to the hardware as to whether that game will run at a sufficient framerate or not.

I... don't see this happening. I have no doubt with the childishness of the gaming community as a whole that it has probably happened, but I think the reverse - represented in the first comic - happens much, much, much more often.

I mean, this is topic about preferences for people between playing consoles or PC gaming, and it is full of "PC gaming is objectively better". Not simply "I prefer PC gaming because of ___". Because it's never like that with discussions on this topic (you may find a couple of people who simply say "I prefer" but they end up flooded out). It's always "PC master race", "console peasants". Including the inevitable comments that have been made in this very topic that PC emulating consoles makes consoles irrelevant altogether.

The PC gaming community has this image for a reason. Not that the console gamers deserve a good image either. The gaming community is just so toxic as a whole. What is it about gaming platforms that makes people go so crazy? I couldn't care less what platform someone plays. Just don't act like it is the perfect platform without flaws. Every single platform has flaws, more than the fandoms wish to acknowledge. As a longtime Nintendo fan, I really am not excited for the Switch and most certainly don't think that it is God's gift to gaming/Nintendo, which a lot of Nintendo fans do not take kindly to.

I see so many pluses with PC. Modification being a big one. Console gaming is rather hostile toward modding. But modding is so good. It's a shame that consoles are like that. Being a simulation player, I think that genre in particular just kind of requires modding, and that's perhaps why Animal Crossing games have never been as special to me since I started playing The Sims on PC. Animal Crossing City Folk in particular was a bad game, but modding probably could have fixed a lot of its issues. (But then again, you run into games like The Sims 4 which are just so incredibly rotten to begin with that modding can't even help them. But that's on EA. They made a trash game.)

But I wish we'd stop pretending like PC is the perfect platform.

Yet you are, right here. You are ignoring people's expectations. Some people prefer keeping it simple--buy a console, and see what games are available. That's it. There's another facet to pc gaming--one which offers potential for a better playing game here and there--but you are ignoring that some people just don't give a dang about it and that there reasons do not make sense.

That's fine if they prefer it. I'm just pointing out that being willfully ignorant is a weird concept.

@DragonfireXZ95: Not all Dell are shit, they just don't know how to put the correct hardware together for optimal performance most of the time.

However, if you pay attention and grab the right config when it comes along, you can end up with a sick machine on the cheap.

In November of last year, I bought my alienware 13" for roughly $ 1300 CDN, or $1100 USD.

For that price I ended up with:

i5 6300 hq

6 GB gtx 1060

8 GB ram

180 GB m.2 ssd

It's 8 months later, and I still can't buy anything new that would outperform it for that price.

I'm PC all the way and while I have in the past took a break from PC to jump ship with console gaming, I ultimately make my way back to PC. Especially now, since I've been gaming on 4K 60 frames for almost 2 months now and I absolutely love it. I've bought and sold consoles so many times, I'm an impulse buyer...lol. PC is what I tend to always go back too. It's got the visuals that I seek, highest possible settings I can throw at and just in awe enjoy the game and immerse myself. Most of my friends play on PC. Communicating with them is easy, having a group of us on Discord as we jump from Battlegrounds to Rainbow Six: Siege or even switch it up and play some Dead by Daylight or Duck Game...lol.

What is interesting and something I notice @sovkhan above me posts is the types of genres to play towards a specific system. I've been noticing this lately with myself personally as well. For some reason, I much rather play single player games on consoles...lol. I enjoy the ease of use, the comfort, the achievement/trophies which are far better implemented than how Steam does it. With this strange observation I've noticed within me, I've decided to re-purchase another console to have alongside my PC. The decision is tough though...

I'm torn between the Switch or Playstation Pro. I do love the JRPG's that Playstation offers and they do have a solid line-up of single-player games. I remember playing Horizon and never beating the game, thought it was pretty damn cool and still to this day think it's the best looking console game I've ever played. Persona 5 is a big hitter that I would love to jump into since I've heard nothing but good things and I'm looking forward to Ni No Kuni 2.

As for the Nintendo Switch, you got Breath of the Wild which I was dumb enough to only play the first hour or so and never really dug into the game. Would love to give this a proper second chance. Super Mario Odyssey looks great as well as Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle coming soon.

Right now, I give a slight edge to the Playstation Pro because of trophies, which I know are dumb to some but to me I enjoy collecting achievements/trophies in games. Gives me more replay value to feel like I personally completed the game 110%. Again, I know I can pick up the Switch since Nintendo games don't see the light of day on PC and grab those JRPG's on Steam, Ni No Kuni 2 as well, and wait until those rumors of Persona 5 & Yakuza coming to PC but again, I just have this habit and preference of playing single-player games on console, my own personal experience to just sit back, relax, and enjoy.

These threads get made every other day. It never matters what everyone likes because someone always calls you out and lets you know YOUR CHOICE is not the right one..SO...really these threads are nothing but trolling,spamming,etc..just play what you play and like religion and politics, keep it to yourself.

It's a Dell. They are automatically shit. I know, because almost all of our work laptops are Dells.

What he said, get a new laptop. The Asus Rog Strix, for instance, will easily outpace your Xbox One.

http://www.microcenter.com/product/475524/ROG_Strix_GL502VS-WS71_156%22_Gaming_Laptop_Computer_-_Black_Aluminum;_Intel_Core_i7-7700HQ_Processor_28GHz;_NVIDIA_GeForce_GTX_1070_8GB_GDDR5;_16GB_DDR?storeID=45&gclid=Cj0KCQjwiLDMBRDFARIsACNmiX9kvhfV9ZBjsEFFqgs-Qsuf-75PG6Thj3Tx6QXwHDUfQ0fgQz7eNagaAsYQEALw_wcB

No, it's hardware + Software without both your PC won't work!

It isn't being ignorant.

If you have children and take them to the park to play Basketball, is the fun they are having more important than the quality masonry work on the building down the road?

On Vista. Got it running but it crashed whenever saving a game file. Reminded me of when the PS2 didn't come with a memory card and I had to live with it until my dad would buy me one.

Yeah, those parts may be decent, but we've had so many problems with Dell and Windows 10. We had an instance where not updating the BIOS resulted in repeated blue screens as some Windows 10 updates rolled out. While not as bad as HP, they definitely aren't up to standard compared to some of the other PC manufacturers. Maybe just due to lousy software support rather than actual hardware.

Haha, well Vista was pure garbage, so I understand your pain there.

It depends on the game

Some games are best on a console on a big screen and some games are best on a pc.

Sure, but that does not change anything.

Some games are just better on a console and some are best played on a pc.

If screen size is no longer a factor, being equalized in usage, then what is it that makes particular games better on a console?

Consoles, for R&D purposes, alone.

It must be, when my mates come round to my house and play Forza Horizon 3 or split screen Gears of War 4 on the TV, they always moan about the rock solid 60fps. ;)

Except it does change. The FoV can be modified. The UI can be rescaled. And if need be, the Resolution can be adapted to the resolution supported by the TV.

im being sharply reminded of just how "convenient" a console is. my fat PS3 60GB model sadly died (a moments silence.......man MS and sony messed up their launch models last gen...........right then) so i got a PS3 slim. i had a backup of my PS3 not long before it died so i thought it was just going to be a case of restoring the backup on the new system and away i go.

nope.

my saves are restored except for Dark souls 2 and killzone 2 because reasons (im guessing its signed saves in an attempt to hold off cheating in online games). also all the game data (installs and such like) was not restored. why!? what possesed sony to think that restoring the game data was a non runner if it was a different PS3? it took 8 hours to update GT6 on my old PS3....8 frickin hours! thats not an exaggeration.

so i need to download everything again. on the PS3 of course (im assuming this is not the case for the PS4) once something is downloaded it then needs to be extracted and installed which is slow.

to top it all off i cant deactivate my old PS3 due to it being a little bit dead. at best that means a call to sony to see if they can do it (im guessing you are limited to the number of PS3s you can have activated on your account). at worst it means an avtivation is gone on my account for all time which is almost nintendo like in how bad it is.

convenient? not even remotely close. i could have a new PC playing games in less time. i just really hope sony have improved that for the PS4.

@ryu_silveira:

Well that exactly the point, whenever P5 or Ni No Kuni come to pc, if it happens, these games, to me are best played on consoles!!!

Lotta brag about the powaaaa, and all, but it doesn't change the way i play my games.

Pc + Consoles is the only way to go for me, even if by now, i restrict my choice to Pc+Ps4 because i hardly have enough time for gaming.

Some, in SW, are too young to know what it's like to be a family man :)
