you know, pretty much all "inovations" that console gamers play came from the PC beforehand.

cobrax25

Not true. Only the base tech
[QUOTE="GunSmith1_basic"]The best games of all time were on consoles110million
This is a way console gamers delude themselves because they haven't played so many of the greatest PC games, the PC is filled with epic classics, Deus Ex, Planescape: Torment and the like, that are often arguably some of the best games of all time, they feature a depth and complexity that does not exist in any console games.

just look at lists of the top games of all time buddy. Consoles dominate those lists and for good reason. PC games do have unmatched complexity, but complexity is not synonymous with quality. Yes, there were great games on PC, but they are nothing compared to the advancements on consoles. The story of gaming is the story of consoles with PC always in the background, the industry fueling console technology but ultimately finding it's most brilliant artists on consoles

Carpel tunel, what the?

lowe0

It happens. Doom 3 ****ed me up so badly it felt like half my arm was on fire. I freaked out and went to the doctor, who put me on anti-inflammatory drugs and ordered me off of PC gaming for 2 weeks. Which sucked, as I'd REALLY been looking forward to that game. Technically since it was short term, that's tendonitis, not carpal tunnel, but the point is the same.

LOL, are you serious? Wow, that's crazy.

But, must be the same feeling when I get blisters on my thumbs ... LOL, just not as bad as your arm.

[QUOTE="Banjo_Kongfooie"]Is that as poweerful as a 360 because those ATI cards cost like 300$+ and ATI is supposed to be cheaper...

Banjo_Kongfooie

Does it matter if it is or not? I'm not up to date with the 360's GPU, but it can run all modern games on medium-high settings.

Well my PC has a graphics by ATI sticker so idk if it is Nvidia compatable, plus 75$ is like 3 games for 360 just to get my PC to run quality = to the 360's?

What, 75$ = 3 games for X360... you buy them second hand?

yeah fail math some more.

I wish games were $25, luckily with steam, you can get several games for $75, entire collections even, but its better to go ahead and spend the $75 on 3 360 games.

You have never bought a used game?

You can do the same with hardware...

PC isn't in the background, its up in the sky, looking down. :) Many of the arguably best games ever are on PC, it doesn't matter what random console-biased lists you've been looking at.

Geez this topic is filled with PC fanboys. I play on both PC and consoles and whichever is better is up for opinion. The fact is that PC is no doubt stronger than consoles, but also most console gamers don't even worry about being superior, they just enjoy what they have with little worry. The ignorance of PC gamers is facepalm worthy, it's like you guys have never played console games all your lives and only stick to PC.

Not to say that console fanboys are ignorant too, but just because you game on PC does not automatically make you superior, cause that's the vibe everytime you fanboys give off when you rush to topics like this to defend the PC.

XxjackassxX

I don't get it... there's fanboy on both side, yet your only dissing the PC gamers... even though the TC clearly has old and some what bad arguments.

Well the game plays very differently, unfortunately it is not an FPS, you can not run and gun, and the game takes a few hours to open up, but it is a fairly unrivaled experience.

No man, didn't you hear, consoles are what drive creativity and innovation, screw those hundreds of creative and awesome indie games, those guys are jerks, they should give all their profits to MS or Sony instead and let them release their games on consoles.

The tutorial was cool then I did the first mission which sucked imo then was at this dock and he wanted to send me into a place... I mean it has horrible shooting mechanics imo and it is FPS atleast combat wise.

I did however enjoy multiplayer a lil bit but it was a big waste of 9$ to me.

Valve takes 4 to 5 years for major releases, sometimes much longer, Valve does not get critical acclaim because of games like L4D, it does get acclaim for them, but titles like Half Life and Portal, that are truely innovative and awesome, is what Valve is known for. Its ironic you would use L4D and valve releasing games quickly as your argument, since those are 2 games of many, and the only instance of them releasing games quickly back to back.

It was never designed to be a FPS, it's more of an Action RPG that focuses on stealth. You miss your shots because you haven't gained enough experience, the game is based on character skill not player skill like a good RPG should be.

Unlike other companies valve doesn't steal ideas. If they see a promising mod or indie experiment they hire the developers to make a game, which is what they did with TF.

That explains why I hate it then because I had no problem aiming in the tutorial nor did they tell me that aiming sucks outside the tutorial. You cannot defend the praise for the story though because it was just bland and even if it gets better later on a good story should be good all way right?

Well that game isn't their success then since it was still based off a non valve mod. So I repeat they have Half life and Portal... even if Team Fortress did count that in no way makes them deserving of being called better developers then Epic, Capcom, ID, etc.

[QUOTE="Banjo_Kongfooie"] I was not criticising their games I was just showing you how console devs games have more "soul" then valve games. I mean they did Portal, Half Life 1 and 2, but Team Fortress was an idea taken from an addon if I remember correctly and L4D1 was pretty barebones in content.

Banjo_Kongfooie

Unlike other companies valve doesn't steal ideas. If they see a promising mod or game they hire the developers to make a game, which is what they did with TF.

Well that game isn't their success then since it was still based off a non valve mod. So I repeat they have Half life and Portal... even if Team Fortress did count that in no way makes them deserving of being called better developers then Epic, Capcom, ID, etc.

Counter Strike ... hello?

Day of defeat... again, classics.

You do know, this is all based on opinions?

Banjo_Kongfooie

yes opinions of the vast majority of gamers

Just look at his avatar... Majora's Mask is an amazing game you would be hardpressed to find something like it on the PC. Console dev's focus more on the experience while PC devs go for mechanics imo

I would agree with that, but to be fair, PC gaming has a lot of innovations, but just not to the degree that you would believe from PC gaming supporters who claim that PC is superior in every way when it actually lags in many areas. IMO the reason for this is that the line between pc and console is extremely thin, with the only difference being performance and options versus ease of use and stability, and most devs opt for the latter. Most gamers do too

[QUOTE="Banjo_Kongfooie"] I played it and it is FPS combat wise... you get spells (augments) but it is FPS with wonky aiming system. I missed most of my rounds with my handgun and you barely have ammo in that game.Banjo_Kongfooie

It was never designed to be a FPS, it's more of an Action RPG that focuses on stealth. You miss your shots because you haven't gained enough experience, the game is based on character skill not player skill like a good RPG should be.

That explains why I hate it then because I had no problem aiming in the tutorial nor did they tell me that aiming sucks outside the tutorial. You cannot defend the praise for the story though because it was just bland and even if it gets better later on a good story should be good all way right?

As you progress into the game plot lines open up and you are presented with choices. I haven't played any videogame with a story I would write home about, but within the genre it's well paced. What I liked most about it was the world and atmosphere the developers created, it's still convincing to this day. Very dystopian.

BioWare Says the PC is "Made For Games"

BioWare designer Daniel Erickson says the PC is "made for games" and that despite the never-ending predictions of its imminent demise, it's the "natural" platform for BioWare's RPGs.

"There was not a question when we started Old Republic - or any of our games, for that matter - [what the lead format would be]," he said. "There's a reason the lead SKU for Dragon Age was [PC] as well. When we're developing an RPG, it's a natural place to be."

he told CVG. "And yet, all of the biggest games that ever come out - that set the records - are nearly always PC games, and a lot of them are fantasy games."

Okay another game... still does not even qualify them for runner up of the best dev imo

You are forgetting that Valve hired these devs, that means they are Valve. Valve hired the developers of Counter-Strike, Narbacular Drop, Tag Team, Team Fortress and various other modders. Those people make up Valve, so their success is Valves success.

But the games were developed pre-valved thus not adding to Valve's rep as a dev

before posting get your facts straight.. the guy who I quoted said that the most talented devs are on consoles yet you have Bioware saying the following....

"There was not a question when we started Old Republic - or any of our games, for that matter - [what the lead format would be]," he said. "There's a reason the lead SKU for Dragon Age was [PC] as well. When we're developing an RPG, it's a natural place to be."

he's responding to the ridiculous claims that pc gaming will die, which will never happen. There are always going to be people and devs who prefer PC, but they are the minority
