Damn the ps4 whips my 580. Although with all the exclusive high range titles coming to Ps4, I'm struggling to find reasons to upgrade.

GTX 670= stock 7970 , so a GTX 680 would comparing to a 7970ghz or 280x

Is that right? I thought the R9 280X was a rebadge of the 7970 GHz edition so should be 3.2 not 3.1? The chart @04dcarraher posts seems to back that up.

Either way i'll be picking one up soon and it still stomps the next gen consoles :P

This is only going by the TFLOPS performance if you look at pixel rates and texel rates many of those gpu's are 2x or more faster in one or both those areas.

For example my OC'ed GTX 760 has a texture rate of 112 vs PS4's 57 texture rate nearly 2x faster, then pixel rate of 37 vs PS4 25.6 a 31% difference.

Also you cant directly compare Nvidia FLOPS vs AMD's gpu's FLOPS,for example R 280x is a 4.1 TFLOP while GTX 770 is 3.2 TFLOP but yet 770 beats the 280x.

So many of those gpu's are actually faster then the chart is showing

Yet when you plug one of those cards into a wall it doesn't do shit it just makes a fart noise. After you buy the gpu you still have to worry about the rest of the PC.

$400 PS4 you take out the box boom ready to go. No assembling shit; No big ugly electricity guzzling tower; No petition signing for late ports.

PC gaming is bootleg. The "booming" "PC gaming" industry is Farmville and other no name bottom of the barrel garbage. The best games last gen never even made it to PC and this gen will be more of the same.

i have a 780M. in desktop terms thats around a 660ti (though the 780M has 4GB of Vram).

against the PS4 it loses out in memory bandwidth (160 GB/s on the 780M vs 176GB/s on the PS4). i cant dig up official figures for the gflops of the 780M which is odd. the 660ti has around 2.4Tflops. the 780M has more cores but is clocked lower so its probably around the same as that. that beats the PS4s 1.84 terraflops.

so on the GPU side im probably packing around 1.2 PS4s or 1.6 xbox ones.

Not bad for something thats also smaller than the consoles. costs a bloody fortune though :P.

It seems that someone has only taken the flops into account which is really only accurate comparing gpus with the same architecture. Cause the R9 280x is certainly not better than the GTX 780. I think there is a more accurate graph comparing Nvidia gpus to the ps4, but I cant seem to find it.

What I learned from this thread and my own research is that if you have anything less than a r9 270x you might as well buy a console and save yourself the trouble. Even then, multiplats will be a problem due to optimization.

It's funny how some PC gamers keep trying to compare their rigs' power to consoles... Like they have to prove how powerful their expensive rigs are. Wow! Good for you!
