PC > Everything

Seriously now, why is there even a debate. The PC is the best console availabe, by far.

Well first of all, it has the best graphics available. They look crazy good. Consoles don't come close to comparing. But thats all a given. So I'm not even going to talk about that.

But I'm gonna talk about what matters: the games. The pc is home to the highest and best library of games. It has the best graphics by far. You can't even do true HD on aconsole, my pc could go way higher than that even in the 90s, lol. Seriously, the graphics kick the console graphics out of the park. True, you have to upgrade, but you could easily build a high end pc rig that could run Gears 2 easily for less than $400.

You don't have to configure anything, its simply options if you want to. You can simply pop in and go. You don't need to update your card each month either.

The PC has better genre diversity than the 360, at very least. The only areas in which it's sorely lacking are fighting games and what..arcade-action titles like Ninja Gaiden? (which is basically the reason I purchased my 360)

Superior online play with the PC is indeed true simply because of dedicated servers (not to mention the lack of paying a monthy fee for no apparent reason.) With that: smoother online play, consistent online communities, and you CAN have private matches with friends without even setting up a dedicated server. It's called a listen server..and it functions exactly the same as your average XBL match would (except it's generally MUCH more customizable)..

Just a couple of things...

I like my PC, ( I spend about equal time on my consoles and PC ), Eg, it's just better for some sort of games (Try to imagine playing Company of Heroes or Age of Empires on a playstation...)

PC > Console for RTS's and most of the decent MMO-FPS's (Battlefield etc) are on the PC

Yes, you may be able to build a computer for $400 that can play Gears for less than $400, but i don't want to have to fork out another $150 a year just to keep it up to date...

At least with my consoles i can be sure that a 360/Wii/Ps3 game will run on a 360/Wii/Ps3 2 or 3 years down the track without having to fork out more just to keep up with the times... (Lack of Standard 360 HDD put aside)

On the other hand, PC gaming is MOSTLY (NOT always) held back not by the high end, but the low end...

It was only a couple of years ago that i saw CD versions of games stop being published whereas consoles more or less moved from CD to DVD with the release of the Ps2/Xbox (Aside from a few early games). The PS3 has Blu-ray, no doubt the next console MS has lined up with have an equivalent (If not Blu-ray), but it's going to be a fair while away before we see Blu-Ray become a standard for PC's and DVD versions becoming obsolete. I think console game developers have it easier because they can assume that all the consoles their game will be played on have the same CPU, GPU, etc (Multi-plats are a bit different but not too different), whereas on a PC they have to think about the millions of different CPU's, GPU's and their combinations. An example of this away from gaming would be OSX vs Windows, the programmers of OSX have it easier because they know what hardware their OS will be running on (More or less), whereas the Windows programmers have a **** of a job (feel sorry for them really).

But a redeeming feature PC's have is the fact that you are about 10x more likely to get DLC and patches.

It's also funny how you say that ports give nothing than just a resolution boost considering Mass Effect on PC scored higher than the 360 version and getting exclusive content in both Burnout Paradise and Devil May Cry 4.

my old pc could run crysis, almost any PC can run it just not on high. my pc (8800GT OC Quad 6600 ect.) can run it on high no problem and untra-high is actually berable. it only cost me about £1000 all told, thats incuding monitro 5.1 surround and TV tuner and gaming mouse.

Whether or not you prefer PC or console gaming is all about PREFERENCE! PC gets superior RTS games. Consoles get superior JRPGs. PC gets superior MMORPGs. Consoles get superior fighting games. PC gets superior FPSs. Consoles get superior platformers. Whether or not you prefer PC or consoles will all be down to what you personally enjoy!

I think my 220 euro LCD monitor is far more expensive than the rest of my rig, and I finished Crysis twice.

I have a P4 @ 3 Ghz, 1 gigabyte of RAM and a Gforce 6600. My keyboard was three euros, the mouse 20 'coz it's a cheap laser Logitech, my helmets were 4 euro, the sound system that I use for movies is my neighbour's former 2.1 that he gave me for free, my DVD-RW was 25 euros, the motherboard is a 4 years old Gigabyte AGP that was about 60 euro then, and my HDD has only 200 gigs.

The PC is the best, unless you prefer playing on a console.

i've tasted PC gaming, i've tasted the latest hardware and all the good games out there, but you know what? its not worth the money and constant upgrading just to keep up to date and play the future games to its max. its rubbish.

2.) you pay for mods/updates/maps/ EVERYTHING!

God PC gaming is rubbish, I cant stand it!

1) you must upgrade everything every few months just to get an extra few pixles on your small 20" monitor! Whilst i enjoy my 42" HD tv!

2) Its incredibly anti social, you cant really do spilt screen play (unless yiu like sharing one office chari between 4 people). I will enjoy my conole which can support 7 players 9ps3) on sports game.

3) the keyboard is hopless for racing games.

4) wh=ith every new game you must spend half an hour just twaeking the settings. Then you find it cant do everything on ful, and you must spend ages figuring out the best settings. I think I will just put my game in and play.

5) my ps3 keeps all of my music and videos on the smb which is incredibly easy to navigate and I can chat with those on the ps3 easily and go online if I please.

6)We have to pay for mods becuase compainies know they cant charge on the pc due to pirates stealing the mods. THE SHAME!!!!!

7) Actually the online community is fine, no 5 year olds on COD4 thanks.

Have fun with your console ports, will play MGS4 and other exclusives on my couch with my 42" tv now.
