I'm just throwing this out here.. Most people on this inane forum do not agree with the AAAA status of any game, be it MGS4 or GTA4 or SMG2. Why? Standards. When they were released, there were more people in abidance with the AAAA status but as time progressed, better games were released. Another developer raised the bar in some way or another, making the glory of an AAAA game slightly jaded. Sure, these games may not have been given an AAAA score, but in hindsight some of the AAAA reviews were questionable (such as giving MGS4 a technical graphics award over Crysis: Warhead) so it's a null point really. Even so, AAAA in 2010 would be better than an AAAA in 2008 (i'm going to hope ignorant people don't start a SMG2 war again; it is on a console with lesser technical proficiency, don't get wrapped up in yourselves again, please). These advances in the game engine, the graphics, the whatever, were all helped by better understanding of the console hardware, and "squeezing more power" out of it. Since the PC is always on the cutting edge of technology, it is fair to say that the incremental increase of standards would also apply. The only difference is the margin. If you cannot understand the concept of modern things being more proficient, you should go back to school, or read a book. PC games are ahead of what console games can do; they are marked at a higher standard because of the raw potential of the platform. And before anyone says that there are no decent games for the PC anymore and everything is a bad port: A) the bad ports are a minority, most ports far exceed the console counterparts B) This is occurring on EVERY PLATFORM this generation, the obsession with HD graphics on a home system was spawned way too early (thanks Microsoft) and combine it with resultant higher development costs to sate the average consumers lust for higher fidelity explosions along with a collapsing global market, it is no wonder that almost all games are released on all main platforms; it is only business sense in a requirement to survive. Even then, look at how many companies have gone bust in comparison to last generation, or had their staff cut in half (hi Activision). Regardless of the state of ports; the PC still maintains the most AAA, AA and A exclusive games against all three consoles combined. If that doesn't speak volumes enough for you, please try to realise that PC gaming is not dying; it's evolving, it always does. PC gaming is always on the cutting edge, just as PC sales have shifted almost entirely to digital distribution, the games being developed are changing. The niche markets are expanding, most prominently being led by a resurgant Eastern Europe market, with phenomenal games such as The Void or Cryostasis being made. Just because it isn't mainstream, doesn't mean it's bad; quite the contrary. I'll admit this was rather a long-winded way to say that PC is judged by higher standards; but if you can't even read this small post on a web forum you should go back to watching Michael Bay movies. peace

Eastern/Western Europe are quite a large part of the world, throw that in with places like Korea and you have a pretty humungous market. Nowadays I wouldn't call it underground or niche, considering how we've seen numerous developers move to multiplats, including the PC in their development.
It's definately not as well marketed or as well known as console gamiong, but in and of itself it's bigger than each of the consoles.

Not true. Certain games, absolutely. A PC game will always run at higher FPS when you upgrade, things like that don't count, especially when you account for a screens refresh rate (i.e. the amount of frames it can show per second.
Oh yeah? For every console game that gets a 9 or a 10, I can think of a PC game in the same genre with a score of 8 or lower that is more fun. Probably. I've never actually looked at PC game scores.
Another thing is, my Steam games list will put any of the current consoles' libraries to shame with how many awesome games are on it. The difference between a good PC game and a good console game is completely staggering both in scope and enjoyability.

The PC version got 9.0(AAA) while the console versions were 10 (AAAA) There's a big difference plus it's a horrible port and badly optimized for the PC version. TES4 got a 9.6 on the 360, 9.5 on the PS3, and 9.3 on the PC. Guess which version got the "Best" tag (hint: not the first two, and BTW, it released at about the same time as the 360 version so time was not a factor, either).

GTA IV on the pc has been patched SEVEN TIMES ALREADY, get off from under your rock and go read an article or something. ever since patch 1.0.3.0 the PC version has had superior graphics AND much better performance There are still crashing issues and low FPS even with the new patch and their patches are weeks too late weeks? it took valve 4 YEARS to update counter strike source, what is weeks compared to that? do you have a clue of the ludicrious amount of programming it's needed to patch something as big as GTA IV?

Not everyone has a high-end PC. Even mid-range PC's were having trouble running that GameStill is best on the PC :) That only applies to people who have High-End Gaming PC's
They Are? Gamespot has dropped reviewing on Pc for MANY Pc games in the last 4-5 years including mainstream multiplatform games. You can go look it up yourself.

pc gaming has been dead since ea milked the sims series on it, ,
you may get your occasional hit here and there but still the vast majority of games are on dl services in a store your more then likely to run into sims games and new releases of console games as well ,as jewel quest etc
so ya um ,, one word -steam , ,that just about sums up pc gaming lately , aside from crysis gta and cod and sims , no real pc game has been released lately
it's odd how on xbox 360 and ps3 GTA4 is a 10, while on pc it is a 9.0. Maybe pc is at a disadvantage in that the game releases later??? I think those 10 scorers could be caught up in the hype and the pc score is a more sober opinion. I would agree about that for gta4.
I will tell you why :P. Because reviewers are not always right. I am sure many people could name a PC game they would give a 10, and for me Diablo II is without a doubt a 10. Now I am not saying the game is perfect, it isnt. But it is the best game in its genre, as well as being revolutionary and offers the most replay value ever. I wish I knew how many hours I have put into that game....err...maybe I don't lol.

It is because the AAAA games that were released this generation were rated AAAA because of the hype. A game will always be a lot more fun if there is tons of hype around it.

what you forget is that if you buy a console, you probably spend money latter to another prebuilt pc to check emails or write application to get a job and other stuff.
Because an 8 for a PC game is equivilent to a 9.5 or 10 for a console game. You know it's true.
