quick make pettion!

It really is an amazing game, and its good that more people could get the chance to play it. If it does come to PC, it would be amazing if it had mods, since I'd love to see what kind of insane levels and monsters the community could cook up.
As a bonus I think hardcore hermits would shut up about Skyrim and why they think its better over Dark Souls because "it has teh mods".
I have to admit, its weird that Namco didn't think the game had a big demand on PC since the difficulty, complexity and RPG features are the sort of things you'd see in a classic PC RPG, not to mention all the people who wanted it on PC.
Sadly I don't know if it would happen since the team would rather focus on their next game then even do DLC, but it would be a great way to get some more sales and a bigger audience.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Is Namco a big PC company? I'd hate for them to make a horrible RE4 type port, if they even get around to it.
Really, PC gamers should take this opportunity to petition the hell out of having this happen instead of whining about Left 4 Dead 2. Some priorities need some serious arranging I think.
I already own it and don't really have any interested in the PC version unless they can do something like that Super Mario 64 PC sequel and make an entire new game through mods, but I do think fellow gamers without a modern consoles (who are you?) deserve this game.
petitions don't work

I was about to ask that question. I've yet to see a petition that was followed through.

This is true though so...
Who knows? It probably won't happen. Its like those Red Dead Redemption on PC rumors, everyone expected it like GTA, and it never happened, or the MGS4 on 360 petitions.

Petitions never work man, very rarely outside of games do they work. Sometimes developers listen to their audience (like when Sucker Punch made Cole more shaved and less pretty boy because of mixed fan reaction), but a full on petition tends to never work.
Though I'm really pulling, I don't think Dark Souls will make it to PC. Hopefully the sequel, but I'll probably get it on PS3 like I did with my last two Souls games.

in government and politics petitions work because those officials are trying to get re-elected so they try to make everyone happy, in the gaming industry that crap doesn't fly, companies do whats in their best interest and not for the people. We had that big Megaman petiton, capcom said f**** you guys, we had that big xenoblade chronicle petition and nintendo said f**** you guys but later they changed their mind, i'm guessing they said f**** it lets just bring it to America, which made sense since the freaking game was released in Europe and not here so it was already in English. But seriously guys, don't go out of your way to sign a petition for a videogame, don't start a facebook page, its pointless.[QUOTE="SPYDER0416"][QUOTE="Chris_Williams"]

I mean, Valve fanboys make one for everything nowadays. Oh no, L4D2 is coming too soon, oh but Half-Life 3 is taking too long to come, but Portal 2 is blah blah blah.
I think this would be a good chance for a serious petition, but I don't know Namco well enough as a publisher to know if they'd be willing to get a port done because of the community.
If the PC version gets made, someone needs to make a gun mod. That would be hilarious, probably make every enemy a cakewalk. Or a DMC skin. Ooh, the possibilities!

The game was developed by the Japanese video game company From Software, and released December 16, 1994 in Japan, making it the first RPG released for the PlayStation. Since it was never published outside Japan, this game is commonly known as King's Field Japan in the U.S. The game has later received a fan translation in English.
A complete remake was released in 2000 as part of the Sword of Moonlight: King's Field Making Tool software suite for Windows
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King's_Field
unlike most developers, From software actually listens to their fans. Demon's Souls was never supposed to see the light of day outside of Japan, if fans make a big enough noise they will listen. It would actually be really really awesome to play this on PC *drools*.
[QUOTE="Chris_Williams"]I thought those petitions to get Xenoblade and dem other JRPGs released in NA worked. Mebe not. I would f*cking love a PC version, and have said so in most Dark Souls threads. hahahaha, no remember nintendo brought out that official statement saying, we appreciate you guys for wanting this but f*** you........ okay it wasn't exactly like that but pretty close then months later they changed their mind, i assure you the petition had nothing to do with it, the game was already translated, no extra work was needed so they said sure why not. I laugh at people who do petitions, you have more of a chance if you send in mail to a developer and theirs probably a chance he will read it and be moved that you really want to play his game. But hey man i'm cynical maybe petitions do have some effectpetitions don't work

Damn, looks like unfortunate non console or Dark Souls owners have hope yet. This is good news, but like I said, I'm not rebuying the game unless I lose it and my PS3 catches fire or something, or someone creates enough modding to justify almost an entire new game (though usually people just make a bunch of skins and gameplay changes and sh** as far as I see in the mod communities of most games that aren't Valve Source games).

I just want them to have more money, If a game like this gets in the PC community they are going to go Live-wire on it giving From more acknowledgement of their work and reason to make a true Demon's Souls 2.

No way man, do you have any idea how easy that would be, using a mouse in Dark Souls?

So, not erally any hint or confirmation, which of course means it is not coming to PC actually and is totally not possible
This is a good idea. The only console exclusive I actually have a particular interest in. I almost considered buying a PS3 just to try it, but despite it being so cheap to do so, buying a console for just one game seemed a little ridiculous. I hope they release it on the PC, it seems like the kind of title that would be an obvious success on that platform.

Actually since everyone would have played it on xbox 360 and PS3, would be the ultimate failure in sales
The petition has 12 signatures so far, misses just another 99.988 at least to mean anything

Actually, because the game is already made, they only have to cover the porting costs.
But I wouldn't expect you to know such things.
You forget the disribution costs, if you make a million copies and ship 10.000, you are looking at closing doors
Also about the simple port, same goes for every single PS3/360 game, why is FF13 not coming to PC then ?
From Software has never made a PC game BTW, would be a first in history
i loved Demons Souls on PS3
i was hyped for Dark souls and had no need for a PC version, but then came the terrible terrible framerate... it needs a PC version, they ruined the gameplay by having the framerate so god damn bad
Hmm...yet another lowly consolite game that the high and mighty pc gaming crowd wants, huh. It's fun mingling with the peasants every now and then, ain't it herms? :)

why would you care about distribution cost. just put it on steam. no need to pay about CD
I think if they put it on Steam and it wasn't a terrible port, they could make a lot of money. A deep and invovling RPG like Dark Souls is almost misplaced on the consoles.
Wasdie
The game would be destroyed imo if made for the non analog keyboard and mouse

Alright, explain why you think that.

r12qi
You mean the game will be playable only with controller ? Then will be fine i guess, but only 0.00001% play only with controller and would sell nothing
If it would come to PC, would have to support keyboad and mouse, destroying the gameplay completly
Alright, explain why you think that.

Because of the obvious non analog controls

I think it is obvious he doesn't want PC to take another game away from his precious Xbox 360, because he'll have less material to throw at PC that is already small
