PC has already won this gen. easly. With the best multiplats and most 3rd party support = easy win.

Depends on how you look at it. I've got a 4870 HD, can play all those games maxed out and I'm still unhappy we don't have Braid, Uncharted or Heavy Rain (which might come anyway).

One of the most obvious factors is socializing. You're not exactly going to bring a crowd around a PC monitor are you? Sure, you can say "just hook up the PC to the TV", but just like how you don't exactly picture DVD watching on an iPod, socializing with a PC is an oxymoron.

If you got the 'average' girlfriend (or boyfriend), she/he isn't going to gravitate towards the PC. But the Sims, you say? Ever tried playing the Sims 2 together? No, not because there's only one mouse, it just doesn't feel right. She'd rather play it when you go to sleep and let her spend time doing up her entire house. Or the casual boyfriend who'd rather play his sports games on a PS2 than KB/M on the PC. No, he won't go out of his way to buy a controller for the PC. The PS2, funnily enough the 360, and definitely the Wii encourage the notion of group gaming.

It's things like that which contribute to who chooses what. If you'd much rather game alone and in longer sessions, you'd game on the PC. Yes, I'm calling PC Gamers loners ;).

Frozen, the rules apply equally to all platforms or 'systems'. Afterall we all know what the name of the forum is and we all know the rules. I mean how many threads do you see, the Xbox 360 pwns or PS3 is da best! etc

LAN cafes are always popular, and LANs in general are great fun (its no wonder console developers took note with 'system linking'), and who doesn't use their computer for socialising?

Sure I agree directly playing with groups of friends is best left to a console like the Wii (the best in this department this gen, unquestionably) or the 360, if LANing computers or laptops is not involved, but there is loads of socialising to be done on a computer, hence the whole rage around Web 2.0 nowdays anyway.

Actually to be honest in the local 'gaming with friends' department this gen the PS3 and 360 have been all too lackluster, and even they and their mother companies are tending to gravitate towards the online far more than local.... who only Nintendo seem to see it as a primary form of multiplayer.
