This is obviously flamebait. Shoddy hardware? How exactly is my Razer mouse shoddy hardware? My Logitech G15 shoddy hardware? My 9800GX2 shoddy hardware?

Please explain.

ScrunchMuppet

Oh no, it's fantastic hardware. It just ain't well suited to games.

And the PS3 and 360 are, I don't know if you heard but both the PS3 and 360 use PC hardware, CPU- got it from macs, GPUs- RSX= 7800GTX, Xenos= x1900/R600 hybrid, Memory- DDR3 and Rambus were all being used in PCs, so by your logic consoles aren't suited for gaming neither.

No, they're GAMING consoles, hence they are for GAMING.

you do realize PC's give birth to console games...

you should show more respect to your parents :P

Crysis, World in Conflict?

Uh, yes? Do you think spouting out game names somehow wins you the argument?

Allow me to retort, again: Big Rigs.

What the HELL does Bg Rigs have ANYTHING to do with the argument?

When people think of PC games, they immediately think of Big Rigs. I'm not denying that the PC has good games, but Big Rigs, unfortunately, defines PC gaming.

Sigged.

And you have no clue what you're talking about. Console CPUs are more suited for number crunching and the lack of RAM is just disgusting. The only thing "gaming" about console hardware is the GPU and those are grossly underpowered even compared to weak models in the 8 series.

All the numbers and stats in the world can't save you from Big Rigs.

Look I appreciate that the PC has a few games that are slightly better than mediocre (Star Wars 1 Racer was pretty cool). But power doesn't equal good games. And that's what consoles offer in spades. For all its simplicity, Tetris can own any of these so called "powerhouses" like Crysis and World In Conflict (sound like some terrible metal band a 12 year old would listen to) becuase it's a better designed game.

And Big Rigs...man, still not recovering from that nightmare.

What is the difference between a PS3, an Xbox 360, a Wii and a PC? A couple of answers there - first off, the PS3 is the obvious winner. But secondly, the PS3, 360 and Wii are gaming consoles, whilst the PC is not. I'll repeat that - they are GAMING consoles. What's a PC? A personal computer? Where's the gaming?

Can a PC offer original, innovative platformers like Ratchett and Clank, with its clunky keyboard as a control scheme? No.

Can a PC offer unparalled racing simulation with responsive controls, with its clunky keyboard as a control scheme? No.

Can a PC offer engrossing, in depth RPGs with precise controls, with its clunky keyboard as a control scheme? No.

Not a knock at the keyboard or the PC - it wrote me this message after all. But why don't the hermits just stick to writing emails and doing Excel spreadsheets, and leave the real gaming to the big boys, k?

FYI, realistically with a gamepad a PC is also a NES,SNES,Sega Genesis, N64, GB/GBC/GBA, PSX, on top of many great pc games

Can a console offer unparalled RTS simulation with its chunky gamepad? No

Can a console offer Fps experience like pc's can with its unprecise gamepad? no

Can console's offer the graphics pc's offer? No

Ohhh, I know, I know! PC has the best games, while the XBox and the PS3 have watered down games that try to be PC games but aren't as good, while the Wii has games that are it's own thing.

So a mouse specifically made and marketed towards gamers isn't well suited for games? A keyboard that comes with game specific hotkeys and a screen for displaying game statistics isn't suited for games? A graphics card which displays game screenshots on the box and comes with game advertisements inside isn't well suited for games? So all those companys like Dell http://www.dell.com/gaming , HP http://h20435.www2.hp.com/ and Alienware http://www.alienware.com/ are making products that don't exist?

And my PC is a GAMING PC, hence it is for Gaming.

You see, Dell even has its own line of GAMING PC's.

http://www.dell.com/xps

Look, there happens to be a number of entire COMPANIES devoted to Gaming PC's.

http://www.alienware.com/

http://www.falcon-nw.com/

And look, there is even a Wiki page for a GAMING PC

so..... did I just win?

I use my PS3 controller for playing some racing games actually. If I'm really in the mood I'll use a wheel and pedals but not often. The KB/M combo isn't perfect for everything, but it works just fine.

ScrunchMuppet

Well dude, if you don't like keyboard that much, there's a pretty simple solution for ya: go and buy X360 controller, plug it in your USB port, and there ya go!

And regarding that games you mentioned...

1. There are tons of fun free/indie/mods platformers on PC also.

2. You might try-out rFactor, Live for Speed, GTR 2...

3. Erm... really, what?

It's the anti-Painballz. If we merge you together, what happens? I think we'd be looking at dynamite romantic comedy material here!

The failure here is so much that replying to this thread is like blowing a bean in front of a donkey.

You realise that the MMORPG is king on the PC, yes? So your comments about the keyboard's inability to support great role playing games are way off.

Sorry but I lol'd.

I hope you know PC's support gamepads, such as the 360 controller. PCs can be more powerful than the PS3, and at a good price as well. PCs are home to WRPGs (Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, The Witcher, Planescape, etc.), maybe not JRPGs, but WRPGs are a subgenre of RPG and can be included. PC can offer good action games, and has flight simulators, a far more complicated genre than racing simulators, especially considering there is no racing SIM on consoles that I know of (GT5? Forza 2? Yeah, sure . Doesn't mean they're bad, just not sims).

[QUOTE="james28893"]And that's why there are USB ports. You fail.ScrunchMuppet

So you admit they keyboards are awful for gaming then?

No, he is saying that keyboard & mouse isn't the end all solution for gaming. Its great for many things just like a dpad is great for fighters and a analog is great for platformers. Each has its respective place. Don't want to play a platformer with a k & m? Then go out and buy a gamepad you bum. Its not like its impossible to have one on PC. And I don't want to hear that PC doesn't come with a gamepad. Because it doesn't come with anything unless you make it so. Thats why its a open ended platform.

Also, can't play rpgs with the k & m? The Witcher says Hi!

PC games in general aren't as good as console games. If I had consoles without PC gaming, I wouldn't feel like I was missing out on much. If I had PC without consoles, I'd feel like I'm missing out on SO much.

Meh.
