PCs or Consoles : Which offers better gaming experience? (if you had to choose)

assuming both hooked up to a home theater and an HDTV...

and if you had to choose only one (i.e. you won't be able to play games on the other option)...

which option would you prefer to have for your gaming?

extremely powerful PC (anything you wish for; quad sli, cross-fire, etc... )

I think they both offer pretty similar gaming experiences once you get past the obvious technical differences.

Probably PC, since I'll be able to do more non-gaming related things with it. Plus I'll be able to hook my controller up to my PC to get a console-like experience if I wanted.

actually how about controls in general. most games support controllers of some sort, or a joystick, or altered keyboards, and mindcontrol.

By having the most AAA, AA, and A games this gen, and the most AAAe, AAe, and Ae as well, on top of providing the best graphics available, the most customizability, and multimedia features the PC is doing pretty bad.

I'd take the PC over any current gen console easily.

Only way you'd get me to drop the PC is if I had to choose between the PC and something like the Genesis, SNES, and Dreamcast. Then I might have to side with consoles.

"sales" Pc is faling in sales, thats why all the good vevs have moved to the consoles, Why do you have to point out AAAs? For example ODST got a 9.0 and mgs4 and gta iv a 10 but there are so many people whp dissagree PS3 in my opinon has the best ecxlusives but it doesnt do well at sales.dakan45

guess what look at 90% of the games this gen theyre multiplatform. devs are going multiplat formerly console only devs now make games on the pc and formerly console centric developers are now focusing on the pc as well.

Lets see, bad ports and many games that come out for ps3 and pc, apart from that pc has the best graphics, but neither the developers or gamers care, all the sales go to consoles and their games not pc. Overall pc is doing bad at this gen, if not bad then worse than the last gen and worse than the consoles. If you dissagree with that, then i would advice you to take a look around. most of the people i know game on the pc but own a console. what bad ports? so far this gen i saw saints row 2 and mercs 2 . GTA4 was fixed in about a day.

the rest have been flawless better versions.

and actually most of the time the pc version sells just as much as a single console usually more.

This whole generation has been about devs moving to multiplatform development, it's not exclusive to the PC platform like you're implying. It's 70% for PC, not PC and 360 combined. 43% were creating console bound games. Ports like you're describing are few and far between. It's true most multiplatform games are lead developed with a console, but the PC version is usually the best version of it. Batman: AA, Red Faction: Guerrilla, Resident Evil 5, NFS: Shift, GTAIV, Dead Space etc. These are all semi-recent multiplat games where the PC version is the best. Just because a console is the lead development system doesn't mean the PC version is a bad port. Games developed like this tends to keep down system requirements which is a good thing for budget PC gamers.

None of your points have been valid so far, dead space did not sell well on pc quite the opposite i am afraid, also there are many bad ports. Gta iv, saints row 2, bully schollarship edition, godfather 2, mercanaries 2, ghostbusters, bionic commando...all of the qualiffied as bad ports from the reviews, only good ports are resident evil 5 which has awfully weird control and arkham asylum which i admit is amazingly well done but many people have noted tons of issues, i remember even someone mention it here on this forum. Even the pc exclusives like arma 2 stalker cleark sky and cryostasis are buggy and badly optinized. So i have to re think it and say pc fails in everythig no matter the development, i am better off with my ps3, it has no problems and pretty good control f you ask me...besides control schemes in games are made for consoles and not pc, so yeah the control is fine.dakan45

dead space sold 1.4m copies across 3 platforms that means in order for it to have sold poorly on the pc itd have to sell significantly less than 45k copies. somehow i doubt it sold less than that.

GTA4 was bad for a day. ghostbusters wasnt bad at all. it runs flawlessly on my machine. same with bionic commando. and thats it how about Mass Effect,RE5,Batman AA,GTA4(patched),lost planet, and gears 1. some ports i know about. then theres almost every single multiplat game

and good for you. if you feel your better with your ps3 then stick with it. but stop talking about pc gaming like you have any experience with it or know what youre talking about
