[QUOTE="Nin360"]Another lame arguement is for teh future titles.
I live int he present not in the future. If the future 360 library is bad then I will trade it in then. Right now it's spectaculor and ps3's library looks to get no better in the NEAR future.

How is this a lame argument. Two of my favourite franchises are GT and FF. When I decided to buy a next gen console this was one of the main reasons it was a PS3 I bought. I think a lot of other people are thinking along the same lines there. So it's safe to assume lots of people are going to choose a PS3 for this. How is this lame?
How? Because you are buying a console for a use of 1-2 years? Why wait 1-2 years? Youcould wait to those games actually come out and then buy it. THat is why
I don't know about the probles with the PS2 you're referring to, but I'm glad we agree again ;)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_2#Disc_read_errorNielsNL
I always have a good laugh when I read crap like that! where the hell do you get: " the PS3's future looks brighter than 360's" It's in last place in sales, dev's favor the 360 andthe PS3has only about 1/3 of the total games the 360 has! MGS4 & MGO, KZ2, LBP, GT5, Infamous, FF13, white knight story, L.A. noire, GOW3, resistance 2, The agency are all future games ot look forward to. along with many devs starting to figure out PS3 with unreal engine working on PS3 Infinity word making a qualtiy PS3 game shows PS3 has equal if not more power than 360. PSN is continuting to get better and with the edition of home will only get better and when sony said PS3 is a media center they promised having great BD player, great for video clips and music, which could turn in to a DVR in late 08 how can you not say PS3's future looks bright? 360 on the other hand graphics haven't really imporved that much, you can make the argument gears is still the graphics king for 360. RROD still isn't going away MS is might pull the plug on 360 in order to recoop losses, lack of HDD and nex gen media could limit it's potential while 360 is good right now with all that and a lack of announced future games 360's future isn't looking as good as PS3's[QUOTE="Ragashahs"][QUOTE="xX0LDSCH00LXx"][QUOTE="Ragashahs"]some people get frustrated with RROD while other look at future and you have to admit PS3's future looks brighter than 360'sNin360
What a way to throw some 2009 games in there. Microsoft is not talking about their future lineup right now. Especially 2009
so the future doesn't include 2009?[QUOTE="NielsNL"][QUOTE="Nin360"]Another lame arguement is for teh future titles.

ERRRR, How does a warrantee fix the problem? THAT FREE fix isn't a fix....but a temporary solution, the problem has yet to be corrected, since it concerns the GPU producing TO MUCH HEAT.

Can't forget Warhawk
Then why had the 360 sell so poorly this year before Halo 3 came out this year? In that lodgic should not the sales of the game system have been higher because people knew that Halo 3 was coming out?HarlockJC
I think you need to double check your numbers. The 360 sold just as good ALL this year as it did last year. Possibly more so. The problem is that some people, such as yourself, look at the SHIPPED numbers and confuse that for actual sales.
MS overshipped last year to pad the store shelves (and their numbers). This year, they shipments plummeted as stores still had units in stock. But if you look at their month SALES, as reported by NPD or some other similar company, they SOLD more in a month that they supposedly shipped. This is because stores were still able to easily sell the overstock.
Make no mistake at all. In every single region of the world, even Japan, sales of the 360 have been constant and slightly increasing as time progresses.
HOwever, to answer your loaded question, the 360 sold roughly 12 million consoles BEFORE Halo came out. Since every knows that a new Halo game was going to come out at some point, it is easy to make the arguement that people bought a 360 at launch (or shortly after) based purely on the fact they knew a Halo game would be out in the future.

And what did Sony do with the DRE's before the lawsuit?
People had to pay to ship the unit to Sony to get it fixed. I think it cost roughly $100 - $150. My buddy had his PS2 break.
Then again, I still have my launch PS2 and play it constantly. The difference is that I don't deny the PS2 had a problem when lemmings constantly bring it up to this very DAY.
The irony is that lemmings crucified Sony for the DRE. There were tons of threads where they claim to have sold their consoles and would never support sony ever again. They said Sony screwed their loyal followers by releasing a crappy console. They saif this is proof that Sony is arrogant and needs to be put in their place for thinking they could release faulty hardware and expect to be #1. They said they knew people who bought 3 or 4 PS2's (instead of just fixing it) and that was why they had such high sales. They laughed at anyone who claimed their launch unit (such as mine) had no problems and called the liars.
Granted, Sony handled the problem as bad as anyone could possibly imagine...but it's funny that suddenly the lemmings feelings have changed when it comes to the 360. Suddenly THEIR console doesn't break so they don't care. They claim the problem is actually small and blown out of proportion. They do anything they can to excuse MS and downplay the situation. They now consider it a totally stupid that anyone would buy a new console when they could just fix the old one. And of course, suddenly it is about the games. Games are way more important than faulty hardware.
The circle of fanboyism has come full circle. It's sad really.

I appreciate the edit...however I never said that people "claim the 360 doesn't break." I simply said that lemmings now downplay it, makes excuses for it, and now laugh at the very arguements they createdand thought were perfectly legitimate just a few years ago.
I won't lie, everyone is entitled to their own tastes but for the people that do it on these boards that actually no about video games I do find it disturbing. First off I must say that I don't believe 90% of the people on the boards that claim to trade a 360 for a PS3.
No matter how you cut it people buy video games systems for just that.Video games. At this point in time the 360 has better games and better exlusives, Period. It also has its big gun out Halo 3. The PS3's games just don't stack up to the 360's right now. The multiplats on the PS3 just don't stack up to the 360's right now.
Sure you can claim that you did it for the games in the future but seriously what kind of logic is that? Why not play the 360 now and then trade it in later when that supposive future does come?
I really don't understand the logic but like I said its not me doing this. Its those people's choices and its those people's opinions. I have no problem with them doing so and I won't give them flack for it. But if you asked me to trade in my 360 for a PS3 right now, on this very day, at this very moment and time on December 4th. If Sony did that it doesn't make them look good. How long did the DRE's exist and what percentage of consooles were getting them?
NielsNL
Yeah, Sony did the stupidest thing a company could possibly do. They first denied the problem, until it became so big that people sued them. Sony eventually settled out of court for a huge chunk of change.
However, there is some discrepancy in the timing of things. People like to say that the DRE issue lasted almost the whole life of the PS2, based on the fact the SOny lawsuit didn't really take off until 2005. However, that isn't true. The court system just takes a lot longer than changes in the real world.
I believe though, that the DRE really hit its peaks around 2002/2003. Sony fixed the problem as soon as it came apparant that it WAS a problem, but that doesn't help the millions who already HAD a faulty PS2 and Sony was refusing to accept responsibility for the problem...even though they "fixed" it in newer hardware releases.
As for the exact percentage, just like with the 360, nobody knows for certain.
[QUOTE="Rikusaki"]LOL! Thats pure fanboy logic.. you make no sense at all.[QUOTE="xX0LDSCH00LXx"][QUOTE="ZarBlayda"]hes probably thinking about the future when the PS3 will have a line up like the 360 does now and when the 360 is maxed out at its power.Magical_Zebra
But what if its true? The PS3 will get many good games in 2008 and the graphics are beginning to pass the 360 right now!
Look at Gran Turismo 5 and Uncharted! Both of those look better than any 360 game!
Blah blah blah, the same story just a different day. I remember when YOU and various other fanboys were spouting off how Lair, Folklore, R&C every other PS3 title looked better than any other 360 game. :shock:With R&C they'd have a point IMHO.
I'd probably laugh at you.
Blackbond
So first you say that you don't believe the people who trade in a 360 for a PS3...then you say that people should buy a 360 right away and then trade it for a PS3 when it has games they want?
And to top it off, your only logic to back up this seemingly contradictory claim is that YOU believe the PS3 has a library that would never appeal to anybody.
[QUOTE="NielsNL"]Good post. Very informative for me.
If Sony did that it doesn't make them look good. How long did the DRE's exist and what percentage of consooles were getting them?
ZIMdoom

Geezus christ son, THINK.
RROD isn't a lame arguement, for the fact that its such a serious problem that still plagues gamers 2 years later. You don't just let that slip by, easily.
Considering the better PS3 titles out now, that BLURAY ONLY argument is getting alil old.
#1 Inot your son,Probably old enough to be your father! LOL!!! and RROD is a lame argument because that was an issue with launch consoles, MS has modified the current systems to correct this. No its a lame arguement because MS fix it for free with a 3 year warranty. Cows hate this, its burns them and they have to deny andignore it or they combust. You should never brag about the 3 year warranty as a solution. Think about this for a moment, exactly how many electronics do you own that have a 3 year warranty that you didn't pay for out of your own pocket. Answer is none. Besides the 3 year warranty doesn't cover everything.

You couldn't select a game that has fewer issues in terms of bugs as your example? Good luck with that.

[QUOTE="HarlockJC"]Then why had the 360 sell so poorly this year before Halo 3 came out this year? In that lodgic should not the sales of the game system have been higher because people knew that Halo 3 was coming out?ZIMdoom
Even if you say sold to ship. It only matters to MS what they ship out because that is where they get their money. They goal in 06 was to sell 10 million systems which they did. Then their goal for 07 was to bring that to like 11.6 million by June. 12 million system is not a lot of game system. The PS2,PS,Wii, SN?, DS and Gameboy all leaders for their gen sold that many systems in less than a year. A huge number of 360 sold well right after Gears came out. I believe without gears they would not have made their goal last year.People bought the system for the game. There were some who bought their 360 because of the fact Halo was comming out. But once Halo came out the 360 sold over a million systems in one month.
I understand that some people do buy a game system ahead of time but normally it takes key games to make a game system sell. Look what FF:CC did for the PSP in Japan for the first time it outsold the DS for a month. Then what DW6 did for the PS3 in Japan for the first time the PS3 outsold the Wii.
I am also one of those who bought a 360 after Halo came out just because Halo was on the system.

Neither this thread nor your comment has anything to do with what MS thinks matters. Your comment was that the 360 was selling poorly this year. Actual sales numbers by NPD prove you wrong. Even in Japan the 360 is seeing a slow increase in sales over time.
You are wrong. Pure and simple. The rest of your post is just damage control.
maybe they just prefer ps3 games than xbox360 games..... not everybody have the same taste...
and btw why would i take you seriously if you have Nin360 as a name

No you lost track of what we were talking about. We were talking about how key games make a system sell better. I comment on the fact that I don't think we are going to see increase in sales for the PS3 until more key games come out. Because people don't normally buy game systems before the game they want comes out. They buy it after they come out. There was no point were I said the 360 sold poorly this year. I was trying to use a compare the before Halo sales for the year to the after Halo sales this year. And how Halo and GOW made the system sell better.
Then I showed were other games did the same thing. And I believe I was right because the month after Halo came out they sold two to three times the month before using NPD. If you think I am wrong talk to me about that don't try to turn me into some fanboy. I own well over a 1000 console games and almost every game console from the NES up I am not just some random fanboy on here.
some people get frustrated with RROD while other look at future and you have to admit PS3's future looks brighter than 360'sRagashahs
Uh, why, ecause of two games, almost all of the Multiplats are superior on 360, so I have little doubt the 360 version of GTA4 will be better, so its not getting MGS, and gran toursimo, how does that make the Sony ps3's future brighter, because the 360 had the best holiday season for any console in history, and there's no way it can do it again next year
I'm somewhat suprised with all the 360 bashing here, either the Ps3 owners see that if the PS3 has a poor holiday season its pretty much finished, and are just jealous of all the fantastic games I get to play on my 360, while they are stuck playing inferior mutliplats on what's suposed to be the most powerful system.
oh and to those who say the 360 is maxed out performance wise, keep dreaming, I know after droping $400 to $600 on the flopstation, your hoping the PS3 can somehow surpass the 360 in some major way, and the fact is, it cannot, the systems are so evenly matched, that they are closer in term of capabilities than the original xbox and Ps2, so I see a bright future for the 360, and a slow death for the Ps3
As for the RROD, over half of the people here who complain about it are loser fanboys who have never owned one, I keep my 360 out in the open, and bought the fan stand from Pelican, it has been flawless for over a year, please drop the RROD, its just as much of a problem as PS2's disk read error, I went through three Ps2's
And lastly, there is little question, the 360 has by far and away the best library of games available, and when MGS finally gets released, that won't change, even if its AAA.
1. I own all 3 systems and I tend to buy most my multiplats for PS3 I like them that way, and if the 360 is far superior I'll grab that one.
2. Everyone has there own tastes, not everyone wants to play ME, Halo3, Bioshock, it's just a fact that not everyone LOVES shooters wich are in abundence in the 360. Most people buy a PS3 for the prospect of the future games, yes I know "wait" or whatever the hell you fanboys like to call it I know the PS brand will have the best RPG's and no ME does not interest me.
3. To whoever was bashing folding @home, thats just wrong I have lost all respect I may have ever had for you, perhaps it does nothing, but were contributing to the research and thats good enough.
