hyping summer 2016 games already?
wonder if Mass Effect 4 will be a 2016 game
ME4? Would be suprised if that game would come out in 2016.
@Suppaman100: yeah, its probably 2017 to be fair, still we can hope
Indeed. We hardly had a real trailer at E3 but hey atleast we know they're working on it.

Doubt that. That's marketing strategy to build hype and get pre orders and then delay the game to early 2017. They did the same with Mass Effect 3. ME4 will come in March 2017. You'll see.
DAY 1!!!!
OMG 2016 has way too many games for PS4 wtf!!!
man xbox owners have it really easy, they got no games so not much spending on games... LOL
I guess I'll just never understand the hype for these.
Where should I start if I wanted to play these games? Is it a continuing story or new every time? I don't have a Vita but I have a PS4 and PS3

New story every time but there are recurring characters/plot elements. You can get Persona 4 and Persona 3 (PS2 versions) on PS3 via PSN. You can start with either game, personally I recommend 4 since it's the most popular of the series and pretty easy for newcomers to get into

New.
I'd start with Persona 3 FES, but keep in mind that the game is really dark. If you want something more light-hearted, go with 4.
I like the darker tone from P4, they toned it down a bit and I appreciate that.
This is definitely on my radar.
what am i missing?
Good taste in games?
you dont have to be like that. im just asking. i like jrpgs like final fantasy and kingdom hearts, but persona has always come off as one of those creepy high school dating simulators to me. im just wondering how i am wrong, i have a ps4, and id like to get this if this is any good.

This looks a bit more like SMT, that's what has my interest. Which traditionally has much darker themes at play as well.
I don't understand what people see in games like this?
outside of that 2016 is looking pretty stacked the divison, quantum break, scalebound, gears 4, Mass effect 4 are already must buys on my list and who knows what else will show up
Definite day one purchase for me. It's a shame they pushed it so far into next year though, especially when they were insisting that it was coming out this year before.

@darkangel115 & @appletv:
Give Persona 3 FES and/or Persona 4 a try, they're like $10 on PSN on the PS3. Then maybe you'll see why people are excited to play the next entry in the series.

Playing them in order isn't really important sense they're all seperate stories. I think digital devil saga is the only one that has a direct sequel.
I liked SMT Nocturne the most, I think the setting is the coolest.
@Cloud_imperium: you are probably right pal. If there is one thing i dont like about our hobby, its the long winded hype train. I love the fact the bethesda announces fallout 4 and then says it will release in 5 months time. so much better than announcing a game and then drip feeding screenshots and tidbits over a 2 year period, then you often get delays!
You have to do it that way to get the word out on your game or it gets overlooked. Maybe ME could do it like FO4 just did this year, but, I think they were working on FO4 for longer.

Well, you don't have to play Persona 3 to enjoy Persona 4. Persona 4 is a slightly better game since you can control all member of your party in combat, whereas in Persona 3 you only control the main protagonist but not the party members, not directly anyways, they act on their own in combat but you can still set strategy regarding their combat behavior. Both are good for their story and writing and likable characters and excellent localization and balance between combat and social aspects of the game. You can't go wrong with either, not for $10 anyways. The only reason I'd see needing to play Persona 3 first over Persona 4 is that it might feel regressive if you do it the other way around since you can't control the party in combat like you can in Persona 4.
I'd also recommend for first time players you play on easy mode. I'm sure this is a debatable issue among Persona and SMT fans. But I'd recommend it because a death of the protagonist is an instant game over, whereas on easy you have 10 revivals to make use of over the entire game, and trust me you're going to want them as enemies have some instant kill attacks that can ruin an entire hour or so of dungeon crawling. And "easy" really isn't too easy it'd bore you, and you don't want your first experience with a Persona game to be a frustrating one remembered for its grinding and difficulty.
lol no thanks. I'm not a 20 year old virgin's who closest chance of a date is playing persona. I'm clearly not their target audience as a married man with kids in his 30s
Your loss. You could just play them because they're fun and exceptionally well made JRPGs. And I'm saying this as someone who finds most JRPGs to be generic weeaboo shovelware.

I don't like JRPGs at all. Not my thing man. It's literally my least favorite genre right behind indies. Last time I liked a JRPG was FF7 like 15 years ago. I'm not a teen anymore lol

Kinda seems silly to be spending time in this thread then. And indie isn't a genre.

Yes I know indies come in all genre's but they all suck
I speak for Charizard, the game looks like crap
JK day 1 purchase, looks leagues better than P4 and P4 is already amazing.
I am simply posting in this thread - once - to confirm that I did indeed follow through on my bet, and that I am now adorned in Yukiko colors for the next three months, as promised.
Now back to my exile I go.
@appletv: if you're interested in the SMT games and subseries, here's an interesting set of videos talking about them, I saw them a while back and they're good at explaining the games, themes, and good intro games for newcomers, definitely check out the section on "gateway games" if you're interested in picking a good intro game, but hopefully fans of SMT games and subseries find these videos interesting as well, I really found the 1st & 4th video very educational.
Here's an embedded four video YouTube playlist for convenience...
