Phil Spencer “Very Confident” in How Scorpio Will Run Xbox One Games; Talks Game Lineup and More

Phil Spencer shared more insight with Xbox fans on social media, talking about Project Scorpio and much more.

Microsoft’s Xbox division head Phil Spencer loves to interact with fans of the brand on social media, and today he took to Twitter once more to respond to a slew of questions and provide insight on the state of Xbox.

First of all, he explained that he is “very confident” in how the upcoming new console code named “Project Scorpio” will run existing Xbox One games.

Spencer mentioned that he feels “very good” about this year’s lineup, with more first party games than last year and “great diversity,” plus launching a new IP (which he later mentioned being Sea of Thieves).

Interestingly, Spencer described the upcoming Xbox One version of Phantom Dust as a “Port+,” promising more details on what that means before the game launches.

Phantom Dust is a remake, right? I don't do those, but I'm interested in State of Decay since Scalebound got cancelled.

Yeah looks like it will be a remake, I'm sure MS want to see if there's an audience for Phantom Dust before they truly commit on making a full sequel, makes sense to make a remake first and see how it sells.

I mean either way it will be a first party game for them. Making a remake opens up people to what the game is cause I'm sure a lot of people don't even know what Phantom Dust is. It could be a good idea for the remake but time will tell.

They are going to have at least 1 maybe 2 new brand new IP to come out for the Scorpio late 2017 early 2018 i am betting. They aint Sony with the delaying games and closing studios everywhere and laying off staff.

The thread has different stories and comments by Phil. I trust Phil to have games out on time, ahead of schedule. Sony on the otherhand delaystation.

What does Sony have to do with this thread? Stop putting words in Phil's mouth and what games. What is the official release date on State of Decay 2, Phantom Dust Remake, and Crackdown 3? So we can know when they are early.

Sony just released Last Guardian in December, Gravity Rush 2 in January and have Horizon releasing at the end of this month. They also have 3rd party exclusives like Nioh, Yakuza 0, KH 2.8, Persona 5 and Nier Automata all out in Q1 this year.

The only exclusive MS has scheduled for this year before the Scorpio launch is Halo Wars 2.

Phantom Dust is out before E32017 Phil has already commented on that. Crackdown 3 and State of Decay are set for 2017 release, all websites report 2017. And there is even a rumor there be a beta of Crackdown after E3 Microsoft conference ends, but like i said it just a rumor. With Sony the majority of games shown at E3 2016 by Sony had the tagline in development.

There not AAA games they are niche games that a few hundred thousand gamers on the playstation network are interested in. They only exclusives anyhow because nobody will buy Persona 5 or Yakuza on xbox. Nioh maybe. There is independant exclusives games just for Windows 10 and xbox one, but nobody cares only Playstation fanboys hype niche games on the internet.

Last Guardian was in the works for 6 to 7 years can you imagine a game taking 7 years to come out on xbox one? Phil cancelled Scalebound because the japanese devs were taking the piss and taking time off and not putting in the work to finish the game.

Sony has a great line up this spring. This past fall and holiday they had complete shit line up...The Last Guardian...which flopped.

New IP is good. I hope he means more than one to make up for the loss of Scalebound. Judging from his wording in those responses, it looks more and more like Scorpio will be treated as a next-gen XBox rather than an upgrade. In my opinion, that would be for the best. The brand needs a redo, but it is wise to not forsake the hardcore fans that showed up for the Bone. The backwards compatibility is a good place to start.

Quantum Break was announced late 2013 and was given a release date of late 2015. It released early 2016. For a remedy game thats a short release time.

Fable was just a multiplayer game and was free to play. It was not AAA game. Yes it sucks the franchise seems to be on hold for now.

Crackdown April 2014. Yes this game is delayed but they are working on a game that introduces tech never before used with a game, so i am all for giving them the time to have the game right.

Phantom Dust was delayed because the studio could not create the game on time and within budget. So MS cancelled the reboot. MS is not leaving fans empty handed they are releasing an updated HD version of the game

Scalebound the devs were taking breaks off, not keeping to schedules and were taking on other projects for PS4 and not finishing the game up on for xbox one. The head of the Studio was cursing MS on hes twitter feed, in the past, so not surprised MS told this studio to go **** themselves.
