To those just looking at the current October offerings (Forza will move sales and consoles in october it releases at the end of Sept.) It may seem that the favor is in Xboxes hands.

But we will see what happens.

Forza will move consoles and so will Halo:MC. The problem is the PS4 will keep selling at this ridiculous rate, so I don't see the X1 making up any ground.

FH2, SO & MCC along with price cuts and saweet bundaru's will cure their ills this holiday season.

Be interesting to see since Titanfall count do it.

I would not bet on that Forza isn't a system seller even less FH which sold worse than Forza.

Halo could move some units after all Halo has more copies sold on xbox 360 on each version than the xbox one has sold units to date,hell Halo 3 more than double the xbox one hardware sales.

Problem is will Halo fans buy a new console for a bunch of games they already have on xbox 360.?

Yeah last holiday wasn't pretty for MS,they got outdone by 1.2 million units when the PS4 had a shortage and the xbox one had 900K units that when unsold.

PS4 could sell without games what makes phil think that will change? :/

Forza 3 moves systems. Forza horizon is getting incredible hype on the internet and probably should not be compared to the first one.

At the same time, 1 to 2 million (in the next 6 months) will probably be all that it will move. probably even lifetime.

But last gen many NPD victories were not during the holidays. For the first few years anyway, then 260 just kind of ran up.

The problem has been that even with games coming out on the XB1, the PS4 continues to kill it.

Sony could release nothing but multiplats at this point and still beat the XB1. Destiny, a multiplat, was a PS4 system seller. Things are getting out of hand.

You actually think that if the PS4 had no games all of next year that wouldn't be an issue? It does have games next year, but using your example here this is silly thinking.

No games for 1 year or 2 years only works when you are the FAR leader of the consoles (Wii is still technically #1)

Not to mention Sony advertised Destiny as an exclusive (and in some countries did not widen the sales gap of each version of the game as much.) The same Destiny that Activision won't release Sales numbers for oddly. Not sure what you mean by Xbox releasing games and things are out of hand.

Uh, there's 2 games that will move consoles in october, so it makes sense why people are thinking MS "may" win October. I mean one could say Forza horizon 2 is a Sept game, but it releases at the end of the month and I don't think 2 days of FH2 is going to top Destiny. So it's really an october game along with Sunset, who is expected to move units in october even before launch.

If a new game from the CoD makers which received a lot of marketing couldnt do it aka titanfall then its highly unlikely that an HD collection of already released games and probably the least selling racing franchise out there to do anything for X1

I actually agree that X1 has a better exclusive lineup for this fall, but PS4 keeps getting more third party support and, consequently, more games.

I don't see X1 selling as much as PS4 anytime soon. PS4 is simply more popular.

Nobody cares about people in western cultures outside the older ones, it's always company brand. COD creators mean nothing if Infinity Ward and/or Activision is on the box.

Also even then, it did do something, it sold over 2 million on Xbox One awhile back (probably 3 now because it sold 3 million in total, the Xbox 360 version nor PC version have broken 500,000 so...)

I mean in only a few months the game is at 3-4 million units. To say it did not do anything is silly. Arguably, the Xbox One would have been dead and hit a wall if that game did not come out.

While I agree the Xbox definitely has an edge in games lately, I highly doubt Forza Horizon 2 and Sunset Overdrive will be massive system sellers. I guess they'll increase sales, but anyone who wanted an Xbox One for the new Forza already got it for Forza 5, not Horizon 2.

Well from the beginning, through the rest of the year its Forza Horizon 2, Titanfall, Halo MCC,Sunset Overdrive vs Infamous, MLB The Show 14 and Driveclub.(I know most of these aren't necessarily exclusives, but they could have an impact on XB1 or PS4 purchases) I would personally pick the Xbox One in that matchup, but the PS4 will sell more consoles every month anyways. They could delay Driveclub again and it won't matter.

I was one of the many that thought Titanfall was going to move consoles. But the PS4 won March and April even without a hyped shooter. Now the gap is so big that even with a Halo remaster launching during a holiday, the Xbox One has no chance of catching up any time soon. If that isn't the definition of "getting out of hand" I don't know what is.

I think I may buy an XB1 for Forza Horizon 2. If I don't, it will definitely be one of the first games I get for it when I buy one.

The PlayStation 4 won at E3 last year, let's be real here.

Sony would have to go full Tony Romo in a big game, and Microsoft would have to essentially find the second coming of the wiimote/pokemon to turn this around. They lost, the most they can hope for is 2nd place in a console war.

Exactly. Look if MS hadn't shot gunned their own feet off with reveal policies maybe this would be closer. But PS has been the world wide favorite 3/4 gens. A big gen in the US and UK were never going to turn into world wide domination for xbox imo. Its all good because I am not going to limit what I can play no matter what. Never have, never will.

No your whole theory is broken because it was entirely based on believing Xbox has been releasing tons of games and the PS4 outsold it regardless, when it's been literally ONE big game they have released so far.

@cainetao11: I doubt it was the announcement alone that screwed Microsoft. Look at the end of last gen. Sony really picked up a lot of steam near the end of the generation and eventually overtook the sales lead. Meaning Sony sold more consoles with a year less time on the market.

I think Microsofts biggest downfall is the way they mistreated the Xbox 360. They started off extremely strong. Then near the end of the gen they release the kinect and that was the beginning of the end. From there it was a steady stream of shit party games with almost no AAA titles and absolutely no new ips. Top that off with the fact that most people had to buy about 7-10 Xbox 360s due to hardware failures and you've got a recipe for a shitty next generation.

Sony on the other hand released their biggest titles and new ips near the end of the generation and went into this gen riding a huge wave of success.

Then the infamous E3 happened and just solidified people's choice in console b

According to metacritic PS4 has currently 116 games and Xbox One has 74. Considering both consoles have about the same number of exclusives, i would say PS4 has 42 extra third party games.
