Planetside 2 = Graphics King?

It looks great, especially considering the scale, but definitely wouldn't say it's graphics king.

The scale is incredible but Crysis 2 still look better.

Its lighting looks very impressive. Its textures leave a lot to be desired though but as clyde said this is a F2P MMO and thus designed to run on a whole slew of systems so thats understandable.

It has a great artstyle though and so does Planetside 2. There are only a few MMOs that look exceptionally well, can't remember the names but they were Korean or Chinese MMOs.

Dear god not even close! You can tell it is a F2p game... Look at the character model, very low res, as are the ground textures. That med pack is last gen looking, the sky is very simple. This would impress if it were a console game, but by PC standards.. pretty meh!

Crysis still remains the graphics king, followed by Battlefield 3 and Metro 2033. Then you have the likes of Arma II, Shogun 2, Mirrors Edge, Stalker COP, Stalker CS, The Witcher 2, GTA IV, Crysis 2.

I'd still favour the likes of Far Cry 2, Batman: AA, Hitman 5 over this too. ++ many more.

But is it the best looking F2p game ever made? Quite possibly so.

To you three people who voted that Halo 4 is graphics king, you absolutely digust me.

Its a decent looking game, though during the night when tracers are flying everywhere its exceptional looking.

I remember Aion had a great art style. But in the MMO world, its always a trade off. You either have great graphics or good gameplay/metagame. Unfortunately, very few games let alone MMO's can have the best of both worlds. clyde46

I think it has to do with development costs. Making an MMO with state of the art graphics would require an insane subscription fee to be viable.

I would say it's in the top 10, although it looks pretty bland with my 550 :?

Seeing it with higher end GC do the game great justice though.

Looks very good for such big maps and so many people. But gfx king? lol nope.

In some ways it's the best looking game you will ever see, especially when you add the scale of the whole thing. Overall though it is let down a lot in other areas, namely textures.

Still a fantastic looking and playing game for a free one.

TLOU will look marginally better than UC3 is my guess. Graphics always get polished up before release.

The graphics jump from UC1 to 2 was pretty big. From 2 to 3 pretty small but still noticable but now from UC3 to TLOU it's barely noticable. Just shows how old 360 and PS3 have become: you can only optimize for that hardware so far.

And the want for the WiiU shows that the market is ready for new hardware. If sony and MS don't announce a new console before or at E3 next year I'll be disappointed.
