wow i was going to post that just a second ago. this is not good new for MS for being the cheaper console for 2 year PS3 being more expensive and in 08 holidays having the recession work against sony and still not being able to outsell the PS3

So you think that a MS system selling as much as a Sony system is no good news for MS??? Im sure that the fact PS3 is not selling 3 times more than the 360 is really bad news for sony :P

Did you ever see the movie Rocky? In the end, Rocky didn't win. What was his accomplishment? He went 10 rounds with the best. The movie wasn't celebrating mediocrity, it was celebrating excelling far beyond expectations. And now PS3, which had been deemed this generation's certain victor even before launch is in 3rd place, while the scrappy underdog has cemented a place in front of them. If PS3 was celebrating a small lead, it would be celebrating mediocrity. But for a player like MS, who had to split 30% marketshare with Nintendo last generation, it's a victory

First I doubt they have the true numbers cause kinda hard to have them. Lets say they do though.
1) Sony first year sold more then the 360 and now they sold slightly less.
2) PS2 sold over 100 million consoles more then the X-box and now not only is the PS3 still in last place but AGAIN sold slightly less.
Reason I keep saying slightly less is cause The PlayStation 3 shipped around 10.8 million (closer to 10.78) and the Xbox 360 also shipped 10.8 million:

Sorry but the Playstation brand is the biggest and the only sonys weapon this gen! Thats the only excuse i see for a console with an inferior lineup and superior price sell almost as much as the competitor.

Where was the 360 going in sales before this falls price drop? Exactly. The PS3 dropped it's price right before the holidays last year hence the increase in hardware, like I've said it's all about price. You just use straight up numbers without factoring in why it happened, there is no "spin" involved.
Good news for both companies. Anyway, those guys who thought that PS3/360 gap were beeing smaller and smaller were completly wrong :DPAL360And so are the guys that said it widened. Year lead!
Not To Surprised To Here That Considering PS3 Beat The 360 in a lot of the early months. Then the 360 dominated the PS3 in the holiday season sales wise. That the brand name meant nothing when it came to games. Now you tell us that its the brand that is selling it. Well which is it? Sony dominated the console market during the last 2 gens (15 years more or less). Do you think it only affected the first year of the PS3? Lots of ppl at leat here on Portugal dont know what a xbox or a 360 is. They think console = playstation! Other guys like me who play games since 80s and like to read games magazines and consult gaming site, know that PS3 is far from a success. It has its great games like LBP and Heavy Rain (to name some games i really want on PS3)but not as many as its competitors...

I owned this dude on his sig yesterday. You must have missed it. Rocky was the underdog. Rocky loses. Telling us that Sony is the underdog is humorous at best. While the fight is/will be a good one, the champ will be the voctor. And the end of the sig says it all about 360-fanboys. "Market share." That's great for MS and all but how does that benefit gaming? What has MS brought as a console maker they couldn't have done in conjunctiuon with Sony or Nintendo to make their systems better? You can't possibly tell me that a Sony/MS branded console wouldn't be insane. Sony would have the brain power on the hardware and MS would take the OS and software part of it. Instead we're all about "teh market share." Excited to see a company who f-ed up last gen and cut out early and rushed into this gen with faulty hardware. I'll be the first to admit that if the PS3 doesnt come in first that it's indeed a failure. No way they ever come up with the same market share as the last 2 gens. this is the dumbest thing ive read on this forum. if the ps3 is sucking wind the the 360 is too, i mean even with a price cut it managed to barely beat the ps3 in sales. the FACT of the matter is even in a recession & the price of the ps3 its still selling very well so when the price cut comes this year its trouble for microsoft.

How does marketshare affect gaming on the Xbox360? GTA IV (on launch day), FFXIII, DMC4, VF5, Tekken6 and RE5 all say HELLO to you. Yes, marketshare is the sole reason why those games are now appearing on the Xbox Brand this gen.
Funny thing is; All of that would be obvious to if you didn't worship Sony :)

Since I own both consoles and play my Xbox360 far more than my PS3; I'd say MS has brought a lot to the console industry.

this is the dumbest thing ive read on this forum. if the ps3 is sucking wind the the 360 is too, i mean even with a price cut it managed to barely beat the ps3 in sales. the FACT of the matter is even in a recession & the price of the ps3 its still selling very well so when the price cut comes this year its trouble for microsoft.
At first I was going to respond till I saw the last part. I can not even take the PS3 people serious anymore when they throw in the JUST WAIT and the 360 is in trouble anymore. Ya ya ya we heard it all before MANY times.I know when this happens..PS3 launches the 360 is done
when the European launch happens the 360 is done.
when Heavenly Sword and Uncharted come out the 360 is done.
when the new sku comes out the 360 is done.
when MGS4 comes out the 360 is done
when LBP comes out the 360 is done.
when home comes out the 360 is dead
and now some price cut that has not been confirmed and also you have no date for...the 360 is dead.
Heck I have see many PS3 fans even say firmware updates would kill the 360
How about this at least get a date or Sony confirming a price cut at least. Sound good? Considering Sony is the only one of the 3 consoles posting a money lose then I would not be so eager to jump on the price cut bandwagen.
So now lemmings are all saying that the PS3 only matching the 360 sucks?
Uhmmm....what happened to all those threads and MS PR spin about how MS is INCREASING THEIR LEAD? What happened to that? Lemmings were all over that MS spin, calling it fact and decrying the death of the PS3. I seem to recall one enlightened soul arguing that MS wasn't increasing their lead if you look at the actual numbers, but lemmings endlessly attacked that person despite his being unbelievably right.
Now who was that person again? Hmmmm. Might be time to bump that thread. Maybe one day lemmings will learn that MS is just as guily as spin as Sony and stop acting like every word Sony says is a lie while every word MS says is the word of God.

Sony are loosing money and MS as making money with their systems actual price. What make you think that Sony can do a price drop and MS cant. Looks more like the oposite to me.
Well, to be perfectly honest, we know MS was making money BEFORE they dropped the price. There is no proof that they are making money on every 360 sold now that the price is dropped. They MAY be...but we don't know that just yet.

They won't address the issue of MARKETSHARE, but rather instead focus on the Xbox360's one year headstart. :lol:
I'll be the first to admit that if the PS3 doesnt come in first that it's indeed a failure. No way they ever come up with the same market share as the last 2 gens. However the 360 1 year head start did help take some market share from Sony but the majority of the market share has been taken by the Wii.To be fair, a dip in Sony's marketshare was expected this gen.
However, Sony/PS3 will be lucky to retain 50% of the marketshare the PS2 held last gen. That is too much of a dip.

How does marketshare affect gaming on the Xbox360? GTA IV (on launch day), FFXIII, DMC4, VF5, Tekken6 and RE5 all say HELLO to you. Yes, marketshare is the sole reason why those games are now appearing on the Xbox Brand this gen.

What has MS brought as a console maker they couldn't have done in conjunctiuon with Sony or Nintendo to make their systems better? You can't possibly tell me that a Sony/MS branded console wouldn't be insane. Sony would have the brain power on the hardware and MS would take the OS and software part of it. Instead we're all about "teh market share." Excited to see a company who f-ed up last gen and cut out early and rushed into this gen with faulty hardware. Since I own both consoles and play my Xbox360 far more than my PS3; I'd say MS has brought a lot to the console industry.

Again you point to software. a company thats good with software should stick to it. This has been obvious from last gen to this one. And I asked you how does it benefit gaming overall, not how does it benefit the 360. HUGE difference. And because so many games are now multiplat, you think that's a good thing? :lol: Yeah, i love how multiplats don't maximize any systems features. Tell me those same games wouldn't be better as exclusives. No, a Sony/MS system is not reality. But it would sure have benefitted us all as gamers a lot more than the split we have now. Is this true? Is the source credible? If so lemmings just got majorly owned. They had me convinced that the 360 had outsold the PS3 by like 8 million and now this comes in and they tied? When in the same price range the ps3 was killing MS WW for like 6 or 7 months until the 360 price cut and when ps3 has another price cut down to 299 ps3 is gonna start selling again. and the only price cut you might see from 360 is from the elite model. they definitely aint dropping the arcade down again.
