Lots of people prefer to game on consoles these days, no surprise here, you cant go wrong with PS3 or Xbox360, even with the Wii if that's what you're into, other options have proven to be problematic in the long run.
so it's tied with the 360?
 now sony and xbox are both last place
Nintendo wins again

TheEpicGoat
Obviously it's better then kinect, anything is, but why would anyone actually buy a move? it has no games.. maybe sony shipped 10m units hoping the wonderbook will be the next big thing :P
wii 97million

a true gamming revolution this gen..
KBFloYd
Last Gen

Really? but the gameboy advance was so popular back then, i can understand microsoft leaving, the original xbox was a total failure, nobody wanted an overpriced system with no games
Having all 3 'close' in sales is a good thing since it will push them to work harder... Last 2 gens Sony dominated but that made them become somehow arrogant, so I hope they learnt some lessons and wont repeat them next-gen..
Those are shipped numbers! The 360 is still ahead by 2 million consoles don't believe the Lies! :o
xhawk27
Xbox and ps3 are both at 70m
Pretty sure all the different Move components count as 1 sale, so for example the Nav+Wand = 2 "Move units"
That was the case last time we got Move numbers from Sony.
Of course, with the yellow light of death destroying almost every launch PS3, everyone will have 4-5 PS3 by now
Congrats Sony, you made me buy 3 of those damn things. Your disc drives suck but your games are good.
What I want to know is, why do the 360 and PS3 both still cost over $150? By the time the PS1 hit it's fifth year, it was at the $50 mark, same for the PS2. Why are the current consoles still over priced?AlexKidd5000
Because there was more competition when PS1 hit its fifth year.
Now there is no word on next gen consoles from Sony or MS and the only new competion in a long time comes from the release of the WiiU
They still sell well at the 150 price point and unless WiiU and other next gen consoles will take a part of that market share it won't go down soon.

The old shipped vs sold argument again wonder how big the gap really is now.

shipped is sold as far as sony is concerned. im pretty sure ms moved a few units since the last time they announced numbers so theres still going to be a gap. this brings up something interesting....if the 360 outsold ps3 by less than 1million units....would this still be cow ownage, or lemmings fuqin up?[QUOTE="AlexKidd5000"]What I want to know is, why do the 360 and PS3 both still cost over $150? no argument. RROD - 360 is officially dead lastUgh, and it probably costs half of what they sell them for to manufacture now.AlexKidd5000
After so many years of producing the 360 and PS3, optimizing the production through so many console redesigns the costs for manufacturing are probably even lower :P
probably because all companies want to squeeze as much profit as they can...plus there is inflation to take into account....jsmoke03
What do you mean with inflation ?
You are right though: the reason MS and Sony are waiting to go into next gen is probably money related.
Nintendo was the first to announce its new handheld and console faster because frankly their hardware was the weakest so they felt the push to better hardware from developers faster. Won't be long till MS and Sony follow.

Yeah I would love for you to show me figures how RRoD and YLoD have affected the ammount of consoles out there, If you can't your argument is pure speculation.

True_Chaos_UK
Gap has to be less then a million you would think, it's impressive knowing the ps3 came out in 2007 while the 360 was out in 2005
Sony might fail in handhelds but they are brilliant when it comes to consoles, with everything that has happened to them "such as the price tag, psn hacking, lack of games" sony still pulled through.
This actually worries me because if anyone can top nintendo in the console market it will be sony, microsoft has done an excellent job this generation and the xbox is a great brand but it's mainly us and uk based, microsoft really needs to make a mark in europe and japan or else they will never get first, sony on the other hand has all 3 markets in the palm of there hands, and they could potentially dethrone nintendo.
Hopefully the wiiu is a success

ps3 came out in 2006 360 had a year head start. Next Gen is anyones guess I;m thinking a lot of gamers may go for a Wii U/ps4 or 720 combination. I guess It may come down to Sony and MS's new console specs and exclusives, new IPs are a must and I got to admit Sony has been pushing a lot more than MS in that department.
a dollar back then isn't the same as a dollar now is the easiest way i can explain inflation. so $100 console price back then is the equivalent to like $200 now ( don't know the exact value figure)jsmoke03
Oh yeah. But it means you can buy more with that dollar say in 2005 than you can do now. Becuase prices have gone up.
So isn' it: $200 back then is about $100 now ? Becuase you can buy less now ? I'm confused, when is the last time I had economy class :P

it is speculation so you can't quantify it, but i know a lot of people that bought more than one 360 because of rrod. same could be said for ps3 after ylod and the hacking incidentPlease Log In to post.
