it is speculation so you can't quantify it, but i know a lot of people that bought more than one 360 because of rrod. same could be said for ps3 after ylod and the hacking incidentjsmoke03

Basically due to inflation, the value of money goes down, thus the price number increases. So $50 back in 1995 would be far far more today (possibly $100, I again don't know the values). I don't know all the ins and outs of inflation, nor do I know if what I just explained is dfefined as inflation, or jsut the result of people printing more money, but it is a definite reason for things becoming "more expensive"

I like the PSV and it has lots of potential, but clearly requires a few more killer titles... Currently its struggling in sales due to lack of titles which would attract a larger no. of gamer in buying the system..

Very good numbers for Sony. Although I do get suspicious when Sony releases their numbers after MS and somehow sell almost the exact same amount of consoles. The numbers really are just estimates anyway. Otherwise they would say they sold 70,234,174 consoles.

Back OT good job Sony coming back from that mess at the beginning of the generation to end strong. Well not really end. I'm sure the PS3 will be sold for at least 5 more years, long after MS stops selling the Xbox 360.

Nothing against 3DS cause its surely a great handheld, but it would be a pity if Sony didnt offer some level of competition cause its always good having options..

If sony wanted a COD title so bad on PSV, spend money and make sure devs working on the game have resources to produce a decent game not the crap COD:BO declassified ended up being..

Sony has to released the usual GT, GOW, another good Uncharted game along some killer new ips, but also needs to invest in 3rd parties... I'm sure many would gain interest in PSV should Sony announce exclusives for PSV like GTA, MGS or Final Fantasy..

Honestly what i think is all sales count and it doesnt matter whether new systems are out.. Until a systems keeps selling than its relevant to the market even if it offers 'old' hardware...

I dont think PS3/360 owners will stop dicussing or caring about games coming out on these consoles simply cause next-gen kicked-off with the WiiU

And Nintendo shouldn't exactly be proud of how little their console bricked. It has the complexity of a calculator when stood next to the HD twins. Less moving parts and thus far less reason to fail. Even if the Wii had the exact same failure rate as the 360, it'd be a lot worse, if that makes any sense

Gaming just keeps on getting bigger and bigger. Gaming is a lot more mainstream this gen than it was for example 2 gens ago, and ESPECIALLY 2 gens before that!

in the first gen, there was only a few hundred thousand gamers, which quickly rose into the millions when the Atari 2600 came along, the we had the NES that outsold all other previous consoles combined, then in the 4th gen there were two large multi-million consoles, the Genesis AND the SNES

In the 5th gen, gaming for the first time ever became mainstream with playstation, selling more than the NES+Genesis combined!

1st gen:

Like 1 million or so

Here's the numbers:

Atari 2600: 30 million

total for the generation: approximately 35 million

3rd gen:

NES: 60 million

Sega MS: 13 million

total for the generation: approximately 75 million
