Playstation 3's Trophies Or XBOX 360's Achievements?

Which do you prefer? Achivements or Trophies?

I personally prefer Achivements, but I wanted to see what other people's opinions were.

Achievements for me, but only because not many games have trophies.

Trophies are cool don't get me wrong. They just don't have that "dang, you play a lot" effect

Some games have trophies...more to come in the fall.

Personally for me I like the fact that there are Acheivements in every game, but I'm a cow so I like Trophies more.

Stop being so defensive. I was simply saying that i prefer achievements, but only because trophies arent in PS3 games yet. Obviously they're present in some games, but very, very few. Other than that one issue, the two systems are pretty much the same.

It's actually not really a fail at all.

Not many Playstation 3 games have trophies.

Sure, there is Uncharted, Burnout, Warhawk, PAIN and Super Stardust H, but that is about it.

I am a huge PS3 fan, but I do prefer Achievements.

The fact that developers need to include them is better on the 360, cause on the PS3 they have a choice on whether they want to add trophies or not.

Achievements only because they're part of XBL. EVERY game has them.

but other than that, they are the same. They don't really mean anything.

That's just the thing, I don't find it fun to earn them. You often don't unlock anything important or interesting in the game by completing them (bonus levels and content, secret weapons ect.) they're just a bunch of redundant challenges that you you don't actually achieve anything by completing. So what if it increases your gamerscore? I just use that as a measure for how interesting the person's life is >_>.

also trophies judt copy achivements which is kinda admitting defeate on the sony side, the spin is really lame too. i think achivements becuase trophies are sporadic and i will always feel they are a rip-off.

Achevimenntnments arnt a peice of papers sasing well done. Its good better and bigger than a trophie its a statute.

They are one and the same in theory.

In practice, I give the edge to Achievements only because of universal implementation.

Of course. Sony has really dragged its feet in convincing the devs of really Trophy-worthy games like MGS and R&C to include them. It'll be a while before the trophy system can truly level the playing field.

EDIT: And acheivements. Even though I don't own a PS3, I've decided that because the selection of games that use trophies is limited and acheivements are universally implemented accross all games. Near enough everybody saying trophies seems to be a bit of a fanboy.

Achievements = description + a score

Trophy = description + Bronze/silver/gold

both are completely pointless. M$ invented "achievements" (what exactly do you achieve? O.o) as a sales gimmic so people buy more games to get more points. and it was also a tool M$ used to get people to buy multiplats for 360. I still think the whole idea is a sales gimmic, nothing moreRafinator

I play the games for fun, and the trophies are just something extra
