I don't know what's worse:
Companies creating unrealistic hype.
People who believe a company's unrealistic hype.
People whining because they believed a company's unrealistic hype, and discovered it was all a lie.
People who bash others for not believing in a company's unrealistic hype.
Yes I know, all as pointless as the thread itself.
Imagine if epic spent 4 years making Gears of War 2 lol

Im sure it would look the same as gears 1, just like gears 2 did
"In direct comparison, we can't say the visuals in late-gen Xbox games looked that much different than Halo..."
Making game development as idiot proof as possible does not equate to better games. In fact, it alludes to a tendency to cut corners. It's like how a person who's used NT all their life knows how Windows works better than a person who uses Vista or XP. That's why I have more confidence in devs who dedicate their time to the PS3 and understanding it.It might be strange, but i belive that xbox 360 have potential to make bether looking games
Why? because devs have easier time making stuff and such they can spend more time on polish

Unless MS start putting money into there first party to develop new and exclusive game engines, then The PS3 will have better looking games.
Sony's first party s very strong, and Sony are always willing to invest in it. This allows games like Killzone 2.
MS have a weak first party on a much smaller budget, Rare are the only team to make good looking games.
[QUOTE="RobbieH1234"] awesome quote Eh, they use similar engines though. It's claimed that Halo 3 uses a brand, Xbox specific game engine, but it really just re uses old tech from the previous Halo engine."In direct comparison, we can't say the visuals in late-gen Xbox games looked that much different than Halo..."

MS need to up there game if they really want to see off Sony.
Wow a playstation site......saying that the Ps3 is stronger than the 360 .....That is truely amazingLordDhampireno way, seriously?because the success of PS3 doesnt directly effect them at all.
It started with Uncharted, then it continued with Metal Gear Solid IV, and it is about to happen again with Killzone 2 later this month. The gap is still small but it's definitely there and I do think it will widen (with Heavy Rain and Uncharted 2).AppleBladeTo be fair, Graphics comparisons are limited. I disagree with every game you just said. I think Gears 1 is better then MGS4, and Gears 2 is better then Uncharted. There is NO fact on which game looks better, saying otherwise is silly. It's all opinion. Kameo is the best looking game this gen, on PS3 or XBOX ... Imo.
Most of the time spent on KZ2 was for the game engine. How many years has Epic been making the UE engine? 10+ years?Imagine if epic spent 4 years making Gears of War 2 lol

Yeah, but they had to start somewhere right? UT didnt pop out of thin air, they had to make the engine first and that took a lot of time and money. Same applies for KZ2. They had to make the engine, now that they have it, you can expect to see KZ3 with much better production values but in a shorter time.Imagine if epic spent 4 years making Gears of War 2 lol

It's claimed that Halo 3 uses a brand, Xbox specific game engine, but it really just re uses old tech from the previous Halo engine. He's comparing how Halo 1 looked(a launch game), to late gen Xbox games, not just to Halo 2...He wants to show how much more the PS2 grew from launch to end compared to the xbox. Of course to say that Halo looked anywhere near as good as Ninja Gaiden and Escape from Butcher Bay and Chaos theory is a severe case of burying your head in the sand to keep your point working. Unreal Tournament was a pretty good looking launch title and compared alright to later titles(as well as halo did to later titles), and if you want to use crappy launch titles for the PS2, use games like Azurik as your reference for Xbox launch titles. This whole article was a comparison that was as stacked as it could be to try to support his point."In direct comparison, we can't say the visuals in late-gen Xbox games looked that much different than Halo..."

maybe TC wrote that article
it's just a shame that half of those games aren't even outThis are the PS3 games that are graphically superior imo:
Uncharted
Uncharted 2
God of War 3
MGS4
Killzone 2
Gran Turismo 5
All this games are examples of what the PS3 is capable of, while the 360 only has Gears 2.

so when you stated the 50 million budget were you thinking of any game in particular that uses that budget?
no, I was just imagining if Epic spent $50 mil making Gears 2

That's because the PS3 had to use a totally new engine built for the PS3 and not anything else. Gears 2 uses the UE3 engine that has been upgraded and developed over a period as long or longer as KZ2 dev time. It's a fact that the PS3 can't use the engines based on the X360 properly, because they are'nt utilizing the cell. Even PC's would struggle with the KZ2 engine.
Graphics don't always make the gamesnakes3425I agree!!! But the 80gigs of Blue Ray Data storage space allow for some longer/lengthy games compared to having to be stuck with an 8gig DVD. An advantage that the PS3 has in development of EXCLUSIVES!
