Poll PlayStation 4 owners, PS4.5 releases, what do you do? (140 votes)
So what would/will you do?
So what would/will you do?
why do you care?
Why do you care if I care?
Either way it won't help xbox one sales so crying about PS4k won't help your beloved xbox.
Are you going to start crying now? Would you like a tissue? Stop making things more than they are, it's just a question psycho.
I dont even Know what the PS4.5 does/will do.
If its just for 4k and better VR, I dont give a shit.
If it make a decent change in terms of gaming, then I'll just buy a PS4.5 then if I feel like it.
I planned on buying whatever Slim models the PS4 would be having this gen, so Im not completly agaisnt getting a PS4.5 even if its pointless 4K and VR stuff, but I'll get it like when the gen is coming to a close.

Overly sensitive Emo Cow. LOL
If this is just to play 4K movies on the PS4, or upscale 1080p to a 4K signal then I don't give a shit, but if it's actually going to do some real enhancement in image quality and enhance PSVR even more then I'm pretty pissed already as I JUST got a PS4 barely three months ago. I was expecting just a PS4 slim or something like that, not this bullshit. PSVR is $500 with the Move controllers and PS Camera bundled, now I'm gonna have to spend an additional amount to trade in and upgrade my PS4 or risk getting inferior running games on the system, **** that. I'd rather sell my PS4 and get a gaming PC.
Why would someone ditch the PlayStation platform just because they are releasing an updated console? That is SUPER petty. These companies owe you nothing. Get over yourselves.

That's kind of why the first option was there, I figured a group of people would be so off put by the entire situation they just jump ship.

well, can't say for certain yet as I don't know if this will be the case or not but if there's going to be a difference in gaming performance between PS4 and PS4.5 then **** that bullshit, otherwise if it's just to play 4K movies on 4K HDTVs then I don't give a shit
but if it's just to play Ultra 4K Blu-Rays then I don't really care, in the last 5 years I maybe only bought like two or three Blu-rays tops, and I'll still be streaming Netflix/Hulu/HBO on a bandwidth incapable of 4K capabilities, or watching shaky-cams in the darknet

If its only an option why would current PS4 owners jump ship?
If it's a totally new system and there's no sort of trade in program....I go back to PC full time and buy an NX for my console games.
I keep my PS4 though and game on it for as long as it lasts.
No PS4.5 or PS5 for me.

because it's basically a big f*uck you to early adopters by telling them their games are going to run in poorer performance to games designed to run on more capable hardware after the big upgrade
that's of course IF this is going to effect game performance, if it's just there to play 4K movies then I don't think people will be that sour about it

It might just piss people off feeling like they're getting treated second class, like they were beta testers for a more finalized product, something that if they want they'll lose a large deal of money on to get if they wanted to, I'm sure there's other reasons.

Lamprey meet IPAD and PC. Do you see a bunch of IPAD and PC owners getting butthurt when better hardware gets released?
It's time to get over this idea that console hardware needs to stay static for 6+ yrs. Its time traditional console cycles end.
@dynamitecop:
Refer to the above.

On the other hand though. People are used to buying a new version of a device that is only a slight advancement compared to the previous model.... Apple.... anyone?
That's a market that is geared for those kind of things, this is not.

EXACTLY!!! People act like this model is brand new. Do none of these people own mobile devices?

Well, people will just have to get use to change. Not everything has to stay the same way. Some of you guys are really acting like a bunch of stubborn old men who are afraid of progress.
Either upgrade or keep my my PS4, it depends on what it does. I doubt it will do anything other than upscale PS4 games to 4K and play 4K blurays, two things I don't give a shit about.

That's not how the world works, you have to ease into these things, not drop a bombshell. None of those markets got to where they are by changing things quickly, it was gradual, over many, many, many years.
You can't do something like this mid-generation in a market it's never happened in before and expect anything good to come from it. You have to gear your market and prepare them for this, talk about it for years, talk about it for the next generation...
Wait and see if it's worth caring about.
You know for all we know for sure it could just be a Ps4 slim with 4K video and hdmi 2.0.
Which yeah there's talk from "devs" about an actual new gpu and whatnot and it sounds legit, but you never know.

And if that's the case, that's fine, that's comparable to Microsoft adding an HDMI port to the Xbox 360 to cater to technological advances, making hardware more powerful that will impact games though could have very adverse effects on the existing consumer base.

fingers crossed that's it

This is an awkward time for consoles as we have just come from the longest generation ever so consumers are used to that, the PS4 has been out since 2013, 3 years and we're already talking about a new model. You can't really compare a mobile device to a console. I'm struggling to find the words to get my point across but on that new iPhone, of the new stuff Apple added in, do you use any of it? Do you make use of the all the added features or did you just get it because you're nearing the end of your contract. Most people only really use a smart phone to access media, social media and the internet on the go whilst having the option to call and text.
I bought my ps4 for little big planet and No man's sky...as long as those games are working...I have my money's worth
@dynamitecop: Hey, NyaDC. Is this new and improved alt of yours going to feature new and improved meltdowns? That's a more relevant question.
I have serious concerns about what the PS4K would do the PS ecosystem and if The Know (aka Funhaus) is to be believed, a release this fall alongside PSVR will cannibalize each other's sales. I imagine Sony has no other choice but to bring it to market at the same time since it appears MS is likewise poised to update the hardware of their X1 SKU. Bad for business to let MS enjoy a competitive advantage like that. But assuming the rumors are true and we're getting updated X1 and PS4 consoles, it looks extremely grave for Nintendo to launch NX in 2016. There is only so much oxygen in the room and 4 platforms vying for the customer's mindshare and dollars in one holiday season is a recipe for disaster.
TBH, I cannot wait. If all of this plays out as I think it's going to, it's gonna be a bloodbath (and yes, I'll absolutely upgrade to the PS4k).
Buy one and make more fun of the even more inferior xbox one version of games.
Well not you El Tormented. We all know you don't play anything, you only talk about it and watch it on youtube.
LOL, now that's sad.
Buy it if it's worth it or don't if it's not. Did you really need to ask?
Yes, yes I did.
@emgesp: I had my iPhone 4 until my fiancé bought me my iPhone 6 earlier this year. She bought it as a present so God only knows when I would have bought a new phone.
Before that I had a first generation iPhone.
Many ppl don't buy into that buy a new device every year. That shit is for the suckers.
It's a no brainer. Sell old ps4 and buy the new version. Sure it's only 2x the power of the old version but 1080p 60fps is worth it to me. Plus I get a 4k bluray player that does hdr. I hope they upgrade the wifi card to a AC version as well. I don't have any info on the games for VR but I will future proof my console so it's a win there as well

Or you can buy one and make fun of PS4 owners. :o
Technically he would have to by his standards of logic, or lack thereof, he would even have to make fun of 'exclusive' games, as not only would they run worse on the PlayStation 4, literally no game for the PlayStation 4 would be exclusive any longer.
