I really wish this game was better, though I cannot vouch for the full game, while playing the beta, the health system just never won me over.layton2012

and it didn't change, it seems that the only way to eliminate your opponents from the field, is by using your Super attacks (the level 1, 2, and 3 attacks)

Pro-Sony posters were just so excited for a game like this that they automatically told themselves this would be great and ignored the mounting evidence that it was going to be mediocre. The people who thought this was going to top Smash Bros. were nuts. There is very little precedent for these kind of imitations surpassing the "original."

You know, for all the people celebrating this game's so called flop as proof that SSB is better, might I point out that the original Super Smash Bros. did not score that much better on Gamespot.

And on Metacritic, it ended up barely three points ahead as well.

Now, I'm not saying that this game is better than the Super Smash Bros. games. I'm not even saing it is better than the first game (which, I realize, is an unfair comparison, considering that game was definitely better for its time); I am just saying, give this game (and the potential sequels) a chance. The legacy of Super Smash Bros. was not built in a day.

This is not that complicated.

It was hyped A. It didn't achieve A, thus it flopped.

It's especially funny seeing known cows asshurt in the comment section of the review.

Sounds like the reviewer just couldn't wrap his head around the fighting system. I'm more inclined to agree with the IGN review in this case. I'll be getting the game anyways.darkspineslayer

And it starts. I just knew people were going to glom onto the reviewer's "complex fighting system" comments.

The reviewer is very clearly saying that the complex hurts the game and doesn't help it. Contrary to what System Wars would have one believe, complexity is not always good or even desirable. This game would have probably been helped alot by being more simplistic. Super Smash Bros. works all well as it does because it is simple with some hidden depth for those who want it.

Just because a game flops doesn't mean it sucks, it got a 6.5 which isn't a good score but it's not a suckish score.

Well, I for one don't think the original Smash Bros. was a great as other people do. It was a promising concept, but as a game, I definitely don't think it was all that. Super Smash Bros. Meele was when the series became truly outstanding and Brawl continued that excellence. The first Smash Bros. was a success mainly due to novelty IMO. PS All Stars doesn't even have novelty going for it.
