Playstation Network > Xbox Live ( lag wise )( why is this true?)
- Playstation network has dedicated servers, and MS has failed to make dedicated servers because of one reason : thier cheap. Even after XBL costs a yearly fee (a nonexpensive one, that could add up) 360 users always say "PSN lags" the truth is psn games have a latency just as much as 360 in nonexclusive games, but for ps3 exclusives Sony has Dedicated Servers (the only thing that make games like Resistance 2 online (with 60 players) Or MAG (256 players) work. (warhawk - 40). Killzone 2 online (32) , also has dedicated servers and never lags like games with p2p only. (Halo 3 - 16 players) (Gears 2 - 10 players) (peer 2 peer) Dedicated servers are needed for big games with almost zero lag. They may be more of a hassle fo developers to produce, but even after the xbl fee, MS has made no game on 360 with dedicated servers Im am not saying p2p constantly lags (COD4 & W@W hardly had any), but it is a large DISadvantage from dedicated. (especially for big games)Playstation is also 100% free online with any game. PS i acually wish X360 would start using dedicated, i would then be able to play gears 2 online!
Explaining the difference
P2P - Peer to peer, player 2 player (one lags, we all lag)
360
PS3
Dedicated, all going through one server (and ^^^^ They have to pay for that?)
